  • What heads are you guys using?

  • do you ship free to canada

  • Anybody got some idea of what this sounds like live and mic'd up? As a "club mod" kit would it still be loud enough for heavy music?

  • @dfurnaridrummer i use one and i have to say when you mic up the bass drum it gives off a lovely thud, i used to mic up the snare but decided to get a black panther instead, it would easily be loud enough for heavy music. the club mod is a great all round kit to be honest, i would highly recommend purchasing one, i got mine second hand off ebay and never looked back.

  • stung by it? >____<"

  • what are you doing and whats the sticking at :22?

  • @AntunyPhrunkacki I'm playing paradiddles between the toms and snare drum. RLRR LRLL. Utilizing two paradiddles, the two right handed single strokes (R) are played on the floor tom while the two left hand single strokes (L) are played on the mounted tom. The right and left hand diddle strokes of each paradiddle (RR) and (LL) are played on the snare drum. Enjoy! All the Best, Jason

  • @drummer73 I had a feeling they were paradiddles. the orchestration on the kit for that fill is super cool thanks so much for the insight! you sound great!

  • @drummer73 what immediately after that?

  • its a 13 inch crank that snare head dude come on make it pop make it sing

  • Does the kit include cymbals & hats w/ stands?

  • Are these drums available?

  • hello there!..... i am interested in buying these drums. do they come with the boom stands pedal hi hat stand snare stand etc.? or is that separate? please reply asap.

i need a new drum set for my band.

  • Hear one of those kits played live on our channel from our album launch party!

  • I love the kit, im saving up for it, but i must ask, what cymbals are being used? I see the crash and hi-hats are Meinl, but what series are they? Thanks! Love the video!

  • @Drumm2live the bysance

  • @Drumm2live Glad you enjoyed the video. They Meinl cymbals are the Byzance series. Best, Jason

  • Do they use the same kind of shell in the club mod black zebra?

  • "It's a cool kit, you'll get STUNG by it."

    BAHAHAHA XD

Oh and BTW, what is that song in the outro to the video??

    Sounds awesome :)

  • do you guy have a gretsch catalina club mod in u tube graphic used or new i been looking everywere

  • okay so Ive tuned kits for like 4 years already. BUT i cannot seem to find that sweet tune in these. Ive had okay tuning and I had some evans ec2s on it and it sounded its best but it still wasnt what I wanted. I recently put pinstripes cause I put a powerstroke 3 on the snare and the snare and bass sound AMAZING but I just cant tune the toms! 5 lugs is a new one for me and to top it off its crossed lugs....... I feel defeated. haha :( any advice on tuning it?

  • hi music farm!! I saw that a while ago you had a kit like this, do you still have it? how much will it be that kit plus shipping to virginia zip 22202? thanks

  • is it possible to buy this set? how much is shipping to europe/germany?

  • @beatking309 you can buy the set in denmark

  • would this kit be good if u played in a hardcore/Pop punk band?

  • i dont like the kit too much. idk why. just not for me.. but i LOVE the colors and finish!

  • does anyone know where i can get a 10" add on for the red stripe set?

  • what type of hats are those

  • hey didnt you work as a drum teacher at Zampinos drum shop in Ohio?

  • what are you guys using to muffle the bass drum?

  • @mik4225drumming No muffling at all!

  • @TheMusicFarm. Allthought I am not a fan of Gretsch drum as a rule I have to say your review was both enjoyable and informative. I also like the finish on these drums. Thanks for reviewing these drums you did a good job.

  • do you recommend this kit for metal songs or heavy music? especially for the bassdrum?

  • How much are these drums

  • your double stroke technique is great man! =]

  • does the kit come with the tom arm?

  • i play a bit of every genre that i can...the ones that i mostly play though are rock, punk, metal, jazz, funk, and latin...do you think this kit would be good for all of that? i'm looking for a nice versatile kit but want to make sure before i buy anything

  • does the kit come with the tom arm that attaches to the cymbal stand?

    or any hardware at all

or is it just the shells and stock heads (is that the right word for them?)

  • @TheBIGMAC147 it comes with the arm to attach to a cymbal stand. i recommend this kit 100%

  • how much is it to ship this kit to the netherlands?

  • is it possible to get a 10" matching tom for this kit?

  • do you any more used drums that are less than 550 or 500?

  • @TheMusicFarm Do you happen to have a floor tom add on or a rack tom add on i can't find either anywhere.

  • what kind of hi hats are you using?

  • Do you still have this kit available?? it seems like they are sorta being fazed out?

  • This guy's a great drummer. Very tasteful and musical.

  • you guys should do a review for gretsch renown maple

  • i wanna buy this one ! but i live in mexico , how can i buy it? how much for shippin to colima, colima :)?

  • hey man, what hi hats are you using :D sound awesome!!!

  • Will u post a video mate

  • i want this settttt

  • lovely kit

  • Do you get a snare stand with this?

  • @JAMESMCORBETT no! it's a shellset!

  • The best quality/price drums I've ever had in 30 years, thanks so much Gretsch!

  • Comment removed

  • i really like gretsch this kit is like wow lol

  • for some reason I don't like this guy's playing. Not sure what it is though.

  • @jpnicolacopoulos

idk waht you're talking about, this guy is amazingly good!

  • Where could i get one for less than $550?

  • We have the kit used in this video available for $539. It only has about an hours worth of play...

    Let me know if interested,

  • is the kit still available? everything in the video included?

  • @TheMusicFarm is this still for sale?

  • @TheMusicFarm do you still have that used kit and would it be a problem to ship to the uk by any chance? i can't find any good deals over here and frankly that's the best i'm gonna get.

    thanks.

  • @Liamislol i got one for 250 from my local drum shop because it sat at the store for so long. it is cheap beats drums, they are on ebay as well.

  • These drums are the shit man. I LOVE THEM, best kit I've ever owned.

  • these drum are great i have played them before!

  • 20x20! I've always wanted that size

  • Are you guys ever going to run out with those kits? cause i think you guys said you only have a couple more ddrum kits and you ordering no more, is that the same with G kits? I'm interested in the Yellow Coat one or the Black Widow

  • i've always been a ludwig fan but i've also always loved that great gretsch sound !!

    immaculately made drums !!

  • what's the song at the end of the video?

  • @ThEaNtMuRdErEr

The Rasmus-First Day of My Life. Its on more info dude.

  • What cymbals are those?

  • MEINL Byzantine

  • @KostasDontis "Byzance" would be correct

  • Whats the thing that holds the tom to the cymbal called?

  • That my friend would be a tom arm.

  • i think a suspended tom arm

  • @RobinBeh A clamp?

  • I wanted this kit, but I ended up getting the Black Widow mod instead.

  • i want to get this kit as my first drum kit but i was just wondering if i would be able to fit another tom tom on ??

  • Yeah if you notice that tom is actually cymbal mounted so you could easily mount another onto another cymbal or get a tom stand for it.

  • It looks as the the bass drum is a virgin, meaning it has no racks for the toms. You can see the the tom is suspended from the crash symbol, so, I don't think you would be able to fit another one. Unless you get another suspended one and attach it to the ride stand. Hope this helps :)

  • @Qalstootel Symbol. LOL.

  • @RadioJack wow i just realized. haha srry i meant cymbal

  • wow im thinking of replacing my yamaha rydeen with this kit. i like the sound and the look.

but i just wonder how versitile this set is when it comes to musical styles? i need a kit that can go from jazz to metal. i play alot of experimental stuff too.

is it really only 500$???? this sounds way to good to be true.

  • yeah sounds really good! but it's a shellset so it only costs 500 $!

  • what is a shellset? sorry if this is a stupid question.

  • @iwazused It's actually called a Shell Pack (Usually). A shell pack includes the Drums and a set of heads but no snare or cymbal stands and no cymbals. At that price you could probably get the kit up and running with Hi-quality used stands and cymbals for an extra $400 ish. That is assuming you wanted a cymbal setup like in the video.

  • oh thanks i already have 3 snare drums and a hit hat and some cymbal. so the shell pack is perfect for me. thx

  • @ZMoronicD This particular Shell Pack comes with a snare.. or i'd be up a creek.

  • it is the set without all the hardware

  • a shellset is when it doesnt have cymblas or hardware

  • @scoot4lyf1 When it doesn't have cymbals. nor does it have hardware. it has the toms, bass, snare and probably the rack tom L arm.

  • how do you get such a brilliant quality sound through your videos? i see no mics around the kit..

im thinking about getting this kit or the normal club mod (smaller sizes will be more compact). im in a gigging ska/punk/reggae band but also play some rock and funk when practicing. which kit would you recommend? anyone?

nice grooves too i must say.

  • We do actually have the kit miked. We have a Audio Technica 4050 about 4 feet from the kit drum, and an Audio Technica 3035 about 3 feet above the drummers head. I think this kit would be perfect for your application.

    Thanks!

  • could you plese explain to me what the difference is between this and the black widow mod?

  • @parkoanime The black widow is red. And I believe the sizes are slightly bigger.

  • Mannnn that drum drum sounds great!

  • oops. i meant bass drum!

  • Great drumming, Great drumkit, Great finish!!!

    How much is it?

  • We have this kit available for only $549!

    thanks!

    Todd - The Music Farm

    330-682-5595

  • does this kit come with the cymbal stands/ hardware?

  • No.

  • it comes with the high tom holder an thats it

  • the snare sounds like a tom

  • Its because the snares are turned off

  • this kits toms have absolutely no resonance. bass drums i amazing though

  • gretsch makes the best kits for the money in my opinion. i have the club jazz and DAMN that thing sounds good. i replaced the heads but the best part is the snare. it sounds so classy. i didn't even take off the stock reso head. but i did replace the batter head with a remo vintage a. great kit and what's better is that i bought it for $400 new.

  • what hats are those?

  • Meinel or however so spell it :L

  • Meinl ;)

  • I'm more interested in those Meinls. Damn those sound pretty.

  • i would really like to know how the toms are tuned on this set

  • just got this kit free (black widow finish) when i bought a pack of sabian AAX cymbals for 800 bucks

  • wtf where?

  • i paid 700 for all my stuff. same kit. zht cymbals though. i envy you. thats a good deal. way better cymbals. but i got an 18 crash for free.

  • Send it to me if you don't need it...;)

  • holy mutha fukin shit thats insane you lucky son of a bitch

  • you think that this kit is better than a Premier Cabria (Standard) kit?

I have a Premier Cabria and i'm searching for a new kit of 4-pieces. This is a good one?

i'm not a english speaker so, hope you understand.

  • if your looking for a 4-piece, this is a perfect way to go. Well made, sounds great, and affordable.

  • thx for answer so quicky. i'll be checking for this kit.

  • Really dont like the snare prefer the ddrum stuff

  • the snare that came with my ddrum kit wound up dying a few months after i bought it, and the $100 cheapo snare i got wound up being much better. idk why it died, but i lost faith in ddrum and now im looking at a gretsch kit

  • i really want this kit does any one know if it handles a 2x bass pedal well?

  • im sure it does with a 20" (small) head ...should be super responsive

  • thanks=)

  • no problem...do not take a small head as lacking in power...its super long depth should "Punch you right in the chest" tight sound with a hard punch....and yes these kits are put together very well....i have a catalina maple and renown maple set...your gonna wanna snare upgrade with some time......otherwise...awesome

  • i have a pork pie little sqealer snare. its a fucking beast

  • hey, im stuck between getting the black widow set and chad smith signature, could someone who knows tell me how they compare?

  • lol im stuck on those too, did u see the deal on guitarcenter? (signature set and signature snare for only 400, great deal considering his signature snare by itself is $270). I'd say go with the Gretsch Black Widow, but either one will make you smile.

  • oh ya i saw the deal, and ive been planning on getting that one but then i just noticed theres a deal if you buy a sabian aax stage performance set you get this set here free, thats $800 for the exact cymbals i wanted. aah im torn

  • If i were u, i'd definately go with the Catalina w/ the AAX cymbals, considering those are the ones u want

  • This is definitely a great kit for the price and right now, I'm stoked, cause there is a great deal going on. If you buy a Sabian AAX cymbal pack (Hats, crash, ride), you get a free Catalina Club shell kit. I might have to snatch that up.

  • I just bought 2 AT3035 mics for cheap...Im fairly happy with how they sound on overheads here and your other videos...Is that why you choose this mic?

  • Definitely! The AT3035 is an affordable, VERY flexible mic. You can use it on just about anything! We have used it on overheads, guitar cabs, and as just a basic room mic sometimes. The response is great, and the high end isn't to "crispy". It's nice and smooth.

    Thanks!

  • i dont think so as on some sites it says the mini mod its smaller snare i think

  • Just got this with the black widow finish.

  • Yes, identical specs as the Black Widow kit,, Just a yellow stripe.

    Thanks!

  • Good reveiw, I have this kit in the Black Widow finish and I love it!

  • Hey it's Jason Edwards here.. I tuned the drums with the bottom heads slightly higher in pitch than the top heads. When placing the new head on the drum finger tighten the tension rods equally. Next , take the drum key and give half turns to each of the tension rods so the tension is distributed equally. Tighten the tension rods in a crossing manner. Adjust the batter head of the bass drum to how high or low you want the pitch to sound.

  • a good start might be to get a torque key it will help you get an even tone all around and you can mess with till u get what u want then hand tune the imperfections

  • What kind of music are you playing?

  • thats some interesiting drummin bro, cool

    man!

  • With the right mic set up this kit would be great for gigging and even recording.

  • cudnt agree more \m/ its a awesome kit!

  • Can I find a kit with 12" 14" and 16" toms??

  • Ye, go to any drum store near you, you could create a special order, near all drum companies make odd drums available for special order. Most drum stores will only charge you a little extra to order a different sized drum with a existing drum package

  • nice beats being played.

  • it would be cool if the kick could be 22" x 20".

  • they it with that but it's called the catalina mod no mini mod

  • oh really? wow! i didnt know that, do you guys sell it? (Black Widow). Is there anyway that I can order it? thanks in advance!

  • well i dont work there or any where but you might look on guitarcenter or musician's friend and see if they an add on floor tom let me know after that

  • ohhhh i'm sorry i wrote to the wrong person!!! on the add on thing but let send you a message telling you where to go

  • the regular club mod kits has a 22x20 bass drum.

  • Yeah and its MASSIVE! got such a huge sound

  • no man. a massive bass is the gretsch catalina rock. 26x20. i've played it. it has such a monsterous boom.

  • Is there any muffling on that bass drum?

  • No muffling of any kind. Factory heads, tuned up right out of the box..

    thanks!

  • If only it had a second floor tom...

  • you can buy one

  • what do you know about the Gretsch CTJ484 Catalina Limited Reserve 4-Piece Classic Bop Drum Shell Kit. i love how they look in the mahogany finish, bur i dont know much about the sound. do you have any of those kits you could demo?

  • I have have the bop set, they sound great.

  • I love the sound and looks of kit. I wanna get the Black Widow version.

  • We have the black widow finish available! let me know if you would like to order.
