God, if Harlan Ellison can force Jim Cameron to admit he stole Terminator off him, even though the ideas Ellison used in his Outer Limits episodes weren't original even in the early 60s, you'd think Volk coulda sued those guys' arses halfway to Pluto....

ghostwatch was awesome....i was a little disappointed when i found out it wasn't real, but at the time i was 13 and it did the job of scaring the shit out of me. i hope there is a 20th anniversary documentary next year because it seems to have been forgotten about probably because of the controversy it caused. but that it what made it so great and i doubt we'll ever see anything like this again on british television

Ghostwatch was a really good peice of British Horror/Drama that proved it could still kill Hollywood in terms of making a good scary movie.It drew you in and scared the shit out of you and it had never been done like this before not at this level.It was the paving stone for future scray storys like Paranormal activity.I think It was based on the Enfeild Poltegeist in 1977.

If so, I REEEEEEAAALLLLLY hope you get it aired. I personally loved the drama, and even though I was 8 years old at the time it first aired on Halloween 1992, it is truly the best paranormal programme I have ever seen and think I ever will.

I look forward to the documentary.

Lets say this programme was intended to be nationwide spoof. Will it work again or at least to the extent that it did in 1992? Even if they used all the tricks in the business, even if it was done with impeccable acting and professionalism, the answer is no! Such spoof also relies on the public's belief in supernatural as well as television. Since the advent of the internet, reality tv, widespread popular media and networking, belief in either is not nearly what it used to be.

Sara greene was the nations sweetheart at the time , butter wouldnt melt ! Parky ,probably one of the most feasible people of all time and mike smith , far too straight for anyone not to take seriously ! All very trust worthy , I think thats what made it so effective.

Watched this last night!

Though it wasn't wise for me to watch it in the dark with the living room curtains closed, i was terrified to look at them!

The whole "what big eyes you have" scene scares me beyond beleif! and this is coming from a 16 year old who knew the whole thing was fake! imagine how people watching it for the first time AND with the belief it was real must have felt!

This was waaaaay ahead of it's time! still a brilliant peice of film!

I watched it when it was live - or so i thought - in 1992 when I was 8. Believe me, watching it when it was apparently all happening for real was mega, MEGA scary! Even my father was looking twice in the dark corners of the room. I slept with my light on for a few days after this aired.

@january301973 it was Raymond Tunstall 2b exact but i ddnt hear anythin bout him bein posessed by mother seddons but apparently she did live in or round the house but the story wud make sense if he was cos he reckoned he had a woman trapped in his body which led me 2 believe he was just a tranny not posessed by a woman but that might b y he went nuts and killd himself cos he was haunted by the child killin baby farmer mother seddons who did exist BTW frm the victorian era, she hung 4 it aswell.

Well I was a bit too young to watch this when it first came out but yes, the young man's name was Martin Denham and he did indeed kill himself. He had a younger mental age than his actual age so probably didn't understand how to differentiate between things being real or fake, especially since the show managed to convince loads of people otherwise! If you look on Wikipedia, it tells you more about it.
