I so wish the Constitution Party had nominated Alan Keyes and not Baldwin for President. He has the entire platform of the Constitution Party mixed up to what he wants as the Government.
First, the Constitution Party advocates state's rights or a constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage/abortion. Both of which are 100% constitutional and legal. And also the separation of church and state is not stated as so in the Constitution. The only thing it says is Congress cannot vote to establish a state religion. The Constitution Party is 100% pro-constitution and represents Congressman Paul's views.
That was then. I think he's honestly changed his mind on some things...but there are still problems with him not being libertarian on some things if i remember correctly. Like allowing states to make their own laws concerning drugs (which is actually more of a constitutionalist argument more than a libertarian one, but it is constitutional so the way to end that would be to have a constitutional amendment saying the government can't outlaw drugs)

Join the Modern Whig Party! We are the largest minor third party in the country, we are mainstream, non fringe (unlike the CP, libertarians, and greens), and we are creating a new ideology. In 2010 we will run three candidates for congress, one as a Dem, one as a Rep, and one as a Modern Whig. All three will be members of the MWP and practice mainstream solutions using the Modern Whig philosophy!
We are not centrist, we transcend the politcal spectrum.
Three legends. I love them all. I hope to meet them in heaven and spray my sperm onto their hair, and sexy glasses. Until then, I just think of them whenever I get off, and I keep it in jars for them. Each will receive an equal amount.
IntellectualConcepts: First of all: Who are you talking to? Secondly, what proof do have that Barr is a racist? You can't believe the liberal media because they smear everyone who says that illegal immigration is bad for our country, as a racist, despite the obvious fact that it will be the death of our country. Any of these men would have been great, but a third party candidate will never win until a revolution occurs!
IMO the first step towards abolishing the two party system is to have elections determined by a popular vote rather than the electoral college. Ross Perot recieved roughly 20% of the popular vote back in the 90's, yet didn't receive 1 electoral vote. That's a pretty fucked up system.
Since our country was founded on the idea of States and their rights, the electoral college idea will continue. We should do away with winner take all state votes in the electoral college unless they get a majority of the state's vote and the majority of every Congressional district in the state. This would give a better chance for 3rd party's to take some electoral college votes, promoting more competition for them and give 3rd party's a role in a close election. It is tough to change!
you know there should be a law that at least 1 third party be allowed in the official presidential debate, we need to break the 2-party system if we actually want real change, baby steps ppl, baby steps
I agree a need for a third party but that needs to be decided by the people because the Democrats and republicans aren't going to just a pass a law that divides their power.
What would it take to open the debates and mandate instant run-off elections? Without debate participation, 3rd parties are toast. Without instant run-off elections voters fear 2 party spoilage. Entrenched political and corporate power does not benefit from such enhancements and would only lose the duopolistic power they have so carefully engineered by forming the bi-partisan CPD corporation, with its 15% polling requirement and by inciting fear with their spoiler accusations in '00.
the third party candidates must not want to actually change anything or actually win or else they would be willing to ally together to get the message out and actually win... if we were to fall behind one third party candidate we would actually have a fighting chance instead of getting a nominal% at most every year!
the point of my comment was to say that if they really cared about the message they would be willing to join together in order to rally behind one candidate and actually have a fighting chance
of course they dont have exactly the same message. no two people are identical when it comes to politics anyways. but there are enough points in thier message that they agree on that teaming up would be good. they claim that they are doing this for the people. but by refusing to work alongside other third parties it becomes all too clear that they really only care about whats best for the party instead of whats best for the people they claim to serve. not unlike the established major parties!
Yeah the established majority that keeps telling us how to live do the world a favor reread or just read the bill of rights and Constitution one more time then look up inalienable in the dictionary you tell me what conclusion you come to. Mine our present government of Dems and Repubs have obvoiusly screwed the pooch. Lets get back to basics.
They could never join forces. Their platforms, at least Baldwin and Barr's platform compared to Nader's, are no where even close. They would be sacrificing too much of their platforms, too much of what they believe in to becomes allies. It would be defeating the purpose of having third parties. Being a libertarian myself, I would never join forces with Nader. I would quit politics before that ever became a viable option.
the compleate messages are different only on the surface really... at the heart of most liberty minded third parties the message is essentially the same.
did baldwin just say that he would support tar and feathering? wow... i like baldwin but seriously, tar and feathering? don't you think that steps over the cruel and unusual line?
I'd like to take the opportunity on this Election eve, to wish all 4 challenger parties and their respective candidates the best of luck tomorrow. For the benefit of this struggling republic, may they each break that elusive 5% qualifier. Bless you all for all your hard uphill work, sacrifice, and courage in the face of hate-fear mongering. And remember those in our movement whose life was lost along the way.
this debate and the one before with Nader or Baldwin are superb and even inspiring. it is inspriring to hear people who are sensible and not bullshitting you with public relation talk, or rather this: "Political language... is designed to make lies sound truthful and murder respectable, and to give an appearance of solidity to pure wind." Goerge Orwell knew. he knew the future plans of these hidden organizations and mysterious orders and tried to warn us of whta it could look like.
one of the two people who they themselves are supporting. i am talking about the banking, commerce and other interests for more sinister forces working towards more sinister ends. i am speaking of the illuminati, knights of secret orders, mystery schools, the vatican and especially the jesuits. McCain and Obama are really ventrelaquist' dummies for agents working on behalf of these people who aim towards world domination.
Look everybody. I know there is very little time before election day. These guys are probably going to win. But don't stop imagining Nader or Baldwin or Barr sitting in that oval office addressing the nation. Most who will vote third party vote from their hearts, but because of the media or polls. We vote because Obama and McCain are obviously taking money under the table to pass legislation, veto bills, etc. for the sake of the people who own the money and the media to decide it's either one
Anyone who is watching the Obama/McCain horserace should be asking themselves 'what's so democratic?' about a billion dollar presidential 'auction', sold to the highest bidder.
Unless our value of civil responsibility has been lost altogether, we must elect a real *president*, as the founding fathers intended, not another imperialist 'unitary executive'.
would we let the Iraqi's hold two party debates and ignore any other voices??? NO. Our polital system is increasingly becoming a two party dictatorship.
Had planned to vote for Barr. Kept emailing and asking him his stand on the border and Ramos and Campean. Nada. No reply. Still supported him.
But began to look at Baldwin ... this debate was the clincher. Bye bye Barr! Keep your open borders, free trade, NAFTA loving, Patriot voting self, you lost my vote today.
And I bet had Obama or McCain been put to any real debates, they'd have lost votes as well. Cause you all share the same views on so many things.
Baldwin loves all liberty that is OK with his religion. Barr is a Libertarian. Nader is a socialist, but at least isn't using the fabian society methodology!
Oh yeah, reckon McBama of the Republicrats will get elected or Obamacain of the Demopublicans? Personally, I think the guy that had lots of money donated by the banking industry and supports a wise completion to the war in Iraq and believes it is good for the fed gov to be involved in health care & education... I think he will end up winning!
it is too bad that we dont have more thIRD party debates and more ideas other than mccain and obama. obama will destroy this nation and three three candidates are all better than obama.
if you are liberal I HOPE YOU VOTE FOR NADAR. I AM A Libertarian AND WILL VOTE FOR BOB BARR
i hope these three guys get much more votes than thy are expected to by the major media
Vote third party. Any of them would be better than the republacrats running. Get your friends and neighbors to make their vote count. Don't forget to vote out all of the congressmen that voted for the bailout.
It would help if the Commission of Presidential Debates, which is controlled by the Repubs and Dems and organizes all the debates, would be abolished. The partisanship of the organization stifles any chance of third parties contending on the national stage. Secondly, the FCC should be abolished. There is no place for censorship in a free society. Although the threat of our kids being exposed to smut may increase, the benefits of opening up the discussion on issues would outway this cost IMHO.
Nader is like most Republicrats today, in that he'll promise expensive social works projects by the barrel full and pretend like there are no strings attached. If the man thinks its feasible and a good idea to raise the minimum wage to 10 bucks, he clearly knows nothing about economics.
Your vote for Libertarian Presidential candidate Bob Barr is 'guaranteed' to improve America's future! If he gets at least 5% of the popular vote in this year's election, his party's Presidential campaign in 2012 can receive millions of dollars in voluntary taxpayer funds. It will also automatically qualify to be on all state ballots, thereby avoiding long and costly signature petition drives. So do the 'most patriotic good' with your vote, help America build a 3rd major political party!!!
Damn Baldwin, lay off the Paul talk. It seems only a fluke that Baldwin got Paul's endorsement over Barr. I give him credit though for speaking out against the NWO, Federal Reserve, bailouts, etc.
ok, one more comment. u know it's sad, that even if this was aired on every national station, most people wouldn't understand it. it's like the smart guy running against the cool kids for class president.
most people don't even know what the WTO, NAFTA, etc is.
In a truly free markets, i.e. one without governmental interference through legislation, one wouldn't have the current drop in price of oil as oil would likely have NEVER risen to historically high prices in the first place. Truly free markets would have provided alternatives to ICE based transportation decades ago. Nearly EVERY market in the US is a captive market created by governmental interference. Wells Fargo is an example of a created monstrosity which would never exist in a free market.
while i don't agree that every aspect of our economy is completely government regulated, i agree that we're getting there, and it's current state is sluggish and bogged down by gov. interference at best.
baldwin is all over ron paul. i admire the guy too, but you can't run a campaign based on "i'm just like ron paul. just imagine i'm ron paul's mind in a talk show host's body."
people give barr crap for distancing himself and running his own campaign, but shouldn't he? he is of the libertarian party, our nations oldest 3rd party, not some start-up party. if ron would leave the broken republicans, and run himself, we wouldn't have this split-third party mess of a vote. who's gonna get 10% now?
When he isn't just like Ron Paul anyway... He's too much of a theocrat and the party seems to be run by religious nuts. Too bad Paul didn't run independent or third party, but so it goes.
Continued ... Writing for the signers of the DOI, T. Jefferson used the order of precedence; life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness for a reason. The reason is that one can NOT have a pursuit of happiness (property) without liberty, and one can NOT have liberty without life. ANY candidate who does NOT support life does NOT support liberty by definition. The ONLY true candidates espousing liberty are those that support protecting life for without life, liberty doesn't exist.
Both Obama and McCain were not born on US soil. Check it out. They are not Natural Born US Citizens. Either one would be the first President not born in a State of the Union. The presidential candidate for the DEMONcrats and the RepubliCONS are both ineligible according to the US Constitution. Tell your friends to vote third party.
Mccain was born on American soil on a military base, unfortunatly that counts. As for Obama, he was born in Hawaii. Don't get me wrong I hate them both, I voted for Barr... but misinformation is never a good thing.
No, Barr, the market was NOT starting to correct itself prior to the bailout. The captive markets will try to correct themselves, yes, but certainly NOT free markets since the US doesn't have any free markets. Baldwin is the only true constitutional candidate who really understands that our liberty is based on God-given rights, not anarchy granted by survival of the fittest. When Baldwin states the importance of life in liberty, he's 100% correct.
A free market doesn't correct itself? would you explain to me what legislation was passed to lower current gas prices? the answer is nothing was done, and that was the solution. prices simply became too high to sustain themselves, and now we're seeing the lowest prices in years.
the economic markets can do the same. where there's a need, there's somebody ready to step in and provide to make a profit. and private banks did make offers to buy up the failed banks, but the bailout trumped it.
Although I have nothing against Joe The Plumber. I think the media is using him as a distraction rather they are supporting him or bashing him; just like when they were talking about what Palin spends her money on. I think if these three got more airtime the media will have less control over the American people. I remember the times when people bash the media(rather it be FOX, MSNBC or CNN) and not take sides with a particualr channel or show host(Ex: Anderson Cooper).
MSNBC = Monopolized and Socialized National Broadcast Communications
These networks feature news that entertains. With local news the rule is, "if it bleeds it leads", so you can get the worst of humanity first. If you want the real news, stick with the Internet and YouTube. At least you can choose, what and when you want it.
Already voted early for Barr. The more I watch the more I see I am right, he is the best candidate in this race, (in my opinion). They are all correct, they should have all been in the national debate. That I would have loved to have watched and to see Obama and McCain against these guys.
The problem is that if a DA in some locality got the ball rolling, these crooks would just move someplace else. The Mexican presidents all used to flee the country with millions of dollars of the people's money after their term of office expired. Sadly, Bush & co. could do the same.
Yeah, getting him out of office is moot. He is a lame duck at this point but impeachment procedures would keep him locked in country and at the end a jail cell. That is all that matters.
Baldwin so rabidly hates immigrants. He even went on to say that they had a great role to play with this... THEY TOOK OUR JERBS!
I applaud Barr in this debate. He did quite well. While I am supporting Nader, Barr is another great choice. Baldwin's not too bad either... but too much of a theocrat and his rabid hatred for immigrants clouds his better judgment. Much better debate than any of the other farces.
Chuck Baldwin doesn't "hate" immigrants but does hate the fact that the federal government has been horribly negligent in the enforcement of our immigration laws. Ron Paul and Chuck Baldwin are both devout Christians but this does not mean that they are "theocrats".
It is true that legal and illegal immigrants compete for jobs with Americans, hence, there are less job opportunities in many industries for us, especially in perilous economic times that we are in.
He definitely does. While Barr's and Nader's (both times) answers were sane, he still has this rabid mission to ferociously secure our borders. While crucial, his true nature belies his want for security.
I never said Ron Paul was a theocrat. He seems to leave his religion at the door when it comes to the separation of church and state. Baldwin, on the other hand, is definitely a theocrat, thus I can never trust him with important social issues. If you think the way he does, vote for him.
Your mind travels into ad hominem attacks against Baldwin by saying that he has a "rabid mission to ferociously secure our borders". Your rhetoric demonstrates your prejudice. You again commit a straw man against Baldwin by labeling him a "theocrat". You have no proof for your accusation.
I can never trust the Libertarian Party with some of their social issues like favoring abortion in the name of "reproductive rights".
More "robust" immigration will add more votes to the Democratic Party.
That's a laugh. Get the quote right first. Baldwin's rhetoric demonstrates his prejudice with his straw man, about the impact that illegal immigrants had with this crisis. Bullshit.
Baldwin is a theocrat. States rights issues become national issues when his policy is based on his religious beliefs of "the sanctity of life and marriage." Bullshit. The Constitution party's platforms are motivated by religious thought (check them out), and thus the representative candidate is a theocrat.
i do agree that baldwin as a lot of thing to be criticize for, i am glad he try to push ron paul, but i think he do not fit in the figure of a independent
Baldwin's protectionism shows when he condemns these "world markets" around 28 min. The Constitution Party would be good if they did not have a 10% tariff, and God, written into their platform.
Yeah I was actually possibly leaning towards him because he stated there was a separation between church and state and that faith based initiatives were not Constitutional. I figured he wasn't a theocrat like numerous people had claimed so I was more open to him until he just advocating state backed force in the form of protectionism.
You dont think there is any room for protectionism when our workers are going toe to toe with ppl living in bamboo shacks with no healthcare or wage/working standards?
Not at all. Our workers need to become business owners, create their own worker owned factories, or become shared business owners so we can create more jobs for people overseas. Americans need to take advantage of the education that is available to them instead of trying to block jobs to people who would work harder and for less overseas.
But why would an american go to college to work a 30,000 dollar job? Where is your incentive to spend all of that money. Business startup takes alot of capital, capital is difficult to save up when you make a low wage. You could just go into construction and make alot more. When I say paid less I mean alot less perhaps half as much, look at india. And many of these countries have free higher education. With no enviromental or wage standards can we really compete with them, should we ditch ours?
Yeah, it's too bad that Baldwin doesn't seem to understand the benefits of free trade. He's like Pat Buchanan on that issue.
As for the tariff, if it's uniform, that's better than an income tax, right?
As for the platform, it doesn't just refer to God, it refers to Christ. I'm a Christian, and I don't even think that's necessary or proper. Am I to believe that if I don't like tariffs I'm not a good Christian?
All that said, I'm still leaning towards Baldwin. But I have yet to watch this.
And yet there are people who don't think he's a theocrat..... Though I don't think you should go so far as to say that if you don't like tariffs you're not a good Christian, public policy should never be motivated by religious belief... that's one thing the separation of church and state guarantees.
I don't think Baldwin himself is a theocrat, though there may well be some of them in the CP. But I have yet to hear him justify a single public policy prescription by pointing to the Bible. None of the planks in the CP's platform does so, either, though the preamble refers to Christ.
That suggests that the party has some vague theocratic tendencies, but not every member does, nor does every candidate they field. Baldwin has proven to me that he doesn't.

the point of my comment was to say that if they really cared about the message they would be willing to join together in order to rally behind one candidate and actually have a fighting chance
revgothlove 3 years ago
wtf? they dont all have the same message, i mean, ralph nader isnt exactly a libertarian.
spawk1993 3 years ago
of course they dont have exactly the same message. no two people are identical when it comes to politics anyways. but there are enough points in thier message that they agree on that teaming up would be good. they claim that they are doing this for the people. but by refusing to work alongside other third parties it becomes all too clear that they really only care about whats best for the party instead of whats best for the people they claim to serve. not unlike the established major parties!
revgothlove 3 years ago
Yeah the established majority that keeps telling us how to live do the world a favor reread or just read the bill of rights and Constitution one more time then look up inalienable in the dictionary you tell me what conclusion you come to. Mine our present government of Dems and Repubs have obvoiusly screwed the pooch. Lets get back to basics.
jsh78mang 3 years ago
They could never join forces. Their platforms, at least Baldwin and Barr's platform compared to Nader's, are no where even close. They would be sacrificing too much of their platforms, too much of what they believe in to becomes allies. It would be defeating the purpose of having third parties. Being a libertarian myself, I would never join forces with Nader. I would quit politics before that ever became a viable option.
livin004 3 years ago
the compleate messages are different only on the surface really... at the heart of most liberty minded third parties the message is essentially the same.

this debate and the one before with Nader or Baldwin are superb and even inspiring. it is inspriring to hear people who are sensible and not bullshitting you with public relation talk, or rather this: "Political language... is designed to make lies sound truthful and murder respectable, and to give an appearance of solidity to pure wind." Goerge Orwell knew. he knew the future plans of these hidden organizations and mysterious orders and tried to warn us of whta it could look like.
Tonyinrosnemex 3 years ago 2
one of the two people who they themselves are supporting. i am talking about the banking, commerce and other interests for more sinister forces working towards more sinister ends. i am speaking of the illuminati, knights of secret orders, mystery schools, the vatican and especially the jesuits. McCain and Obama are really ventrelaquist' dummies for agents working on behalf of these people who aim towards world domination.
Tonyinrosnemex 3 years ago

Some one should of asked "How are 3rd partys going to break the Rep/Dem wall to get into the media?".
SonictheBedHog 3 years ago

ClearFire1 3 years ago
Your vote for Libertarian Presidential candidate Bob Barr is 'guaranteed' to improve America's future! If he gets at least 5% of the popular vote in this year's election, his party's Presidential campaign in 2012 can receive millions of dollars in voluntary taxpayer funds. It will also automatically qualify to be on all state ballots, thereby avoiding long and costly signature petition drives. So do the 'most patriotic good' with your vote, help America build a 3rd major political party!!!

Wells Fargo is an example of a created monstrosity which would never exist in a free market.
tpreitzel 3 years ago 2

baldwin is all over ron paul. i admire the guy too, but you can't run a campaign based on "i'm just like ron paul. just imagine i'm ron paul's mind in a talk show host's body."
people give barr crap for distancing himself and running his own campaign, but shouldn't he? he is of the libertarian party, our nations oldest 3rd party, not some start-up party. if ron would leave the broken republicans, and run himself, we wouldn't have this split-third party mess of a vote. who's gonna get 10% now?
cgraham1930 3 years ago 4
When he isn't just like Ron Paul anyway... He's too much of a theocrat and the party seems to be run by religious nuts. Too bad Paul didn't run independent or third party, but so it goes.

Continued ... Writing for the signers of the DOI, T. Jefferson used the order of precedence; life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness for a reason. The reason is that one can NOT have a pursuit of happiness (property) without liberty, and one can NOT have liberty without life. ANY candidate who does NOT support life does NOT support liberty by definition. The ONLY true candidates espousing liberty are those that support protecting life for without life, liberty doesn't exist.
tpreitzel 3 years ago
Both Obama and McCain were not born on US soil. Check it out. They are not Natural Born US Citizens. Either one would be the first President not born in a State of the Union. The presidential candidate for the DEMONcrats and the RepubliCONS are both ineligible according to the US Constitution. Tell your friends to vote third party.
TheAwakenedOne 3 years ago
Mccain was born on American soil on a military base, unfortunatly that counts. As for Obama, he was born in Hawaii. Don't get me wrong I hate them both, I voted for Barr... but misinformation is never a good thing.
samuraiblaze666 3 years ago 2
No, Barr, the market was NOT starting to correct itself prior to the bailout. The captive markets will try to correct themselves, yes, but certainly NOT free markets since the US doesn't have any free markets. Baldwin is the only true constitutional candidate who really understands that our liberty is based on God-given rights, not anarchy granted by survival of the fittest. When Baldwin states the importance of life in liberty, he's 100% correct.
tpreitzel 3 years ago
A free market doesn't correct itself? would you explain to me what legislation was passed to lower current gas prices? the answer is nothing was done, and that was the solution. prices simply became too high to sustain themselves, and now we're seeing the lowest prices in years.
the economic markets can do the same. where there's a need, there's somebody ready to step in and provide to make a profit. and private banks did make offers to buy up the failed banks, but the bailout trumped it.
cgraham1930 3 years ago 3
What is wrong with this picture? Joe the Plumber gets more air time than these three put together.
TheAwakenedOne 3 years ago 4
Although I have nothing against Joe The Plumber. I think the media is using him as a distraction rather they are supporting him or bashing him; just like when they were talking about what Palin spends her money on. I think if these three got more airtime the media will have less control over the American people. I remember the times when people bash the media(rather it be FOX, MSNBC or CNN) and not take sides with a particualr channel or show host(Ex: Anderson Cooper).
Go4Br0ke 3 years ago 4
Fox = Faux News and/or Fascist News Network
CNN = Communist News Network

The REAL American debate.
enotdetcelfer 3 years ago 6
Baldwin so rabidly hates immigrants. He even went on to say that they had a great role to play with this... THEY TOOK OUR JERBS!
I applaud Barr in this debate. He did quite well. While I am supporting Nader, Barr is another great choice. Baldwin's not too bad either... but too much of a theocrat and his rabid hatred for immigrants clouds his better judgment. Much better debate than any of the other farces.
mindtraveler2350 3 years ago
Chuck Baldwin doesn't "hate" immigrants but does hate the fact that the federal government has been horribly negligent in the enforcement of our immigration laws. Ron Paul and Chuck Baldwin are both devout Christians but this does not mean that they are "theocrats".
It is true that legal and illegal immigrants compete for jobs with Americans, hence, there are less job opportunities in many industries for us, especially in perilous economic times that we are in.
Reformation1517 3 years ago
He definitely does. While Barr's and Nader's (both times) answers were sane, he still has this rabid mission to ferociously secure our borders. While crucial, his true nature belies his want for security.
I never said Ron Paul was a theocrat. He seems to leave his religion at the door when it comes to the separation of church and state. Baldwin, on the other hand, is definitely a theocrat, thus I can never trust him with important social issues. If you think the way he does, vote for him.
mindtraveler2350 3 years ago 2
Your mind travels into ad hominem attacks against Baldwin by saying that he has a "rabid mission to ferociously secure our borders". Your rhetoric demonstrates your prejudice. You again commit a straw man against Baldwin by labeling him a "theocrat". You have no proof for your accusation.
I can never trust the Libertarian Party with some of their social issues like favoring abortion in the name of "reproductive rights".
More "robust" immigration will add more votes to the Democratic Party.
Reformation1517 3 years ago
That's a laugh. Get the quote right first. Baldwin's rhetoric demonstrates his prejudice with his straw man, about the impact that illegal immigrants had with this crisis. Bullshit.
Baldwin is a theocrat. States rights issues become national issues when his policy is based on his religious beliefs of "the sanctity of life and marriage." Bullshit. The Constitution party's platforms are motivated by religious thought (check them out), and thus the representative candidate is a theocrat.
mindtraveler2350 3 years ago
i do agree that baldwin as a lot of thing to be criticize for, i am glad he try to push ron paul, but i think he do not fit in the figure of a independent
azaquihel 3 years ago
Baldwin's protectionism shows when he condemns these "world markets" around 28 min. The Constitution Party would be good if they did not have a 10% tariff, and God, written into their platform.
SSSLLLAAYYEEERRRR 3 years ago
Yeah I was actually possibly leaning towards him because he stated there was a separation between church and state and that faith based initiatives were not Constitutional. I figured he wasn't a theocrat like numerous people had claimed so I was more open to him until he just advocating state backed force in the form of protectionism.

overmind25 3 years ago
You dont think there is any room for protectionism when our workers are going toe to toe with ppl living in bamboo shacks with no healthcare or wage/working standards?
bukakkesake 3 years ago
Not at all. Our workers need to become business owners, create their own worker owned factories, or become shared business owners so we can create more jobs for people overseas. Americans need to take advantage of the education that is available to them instead of trying to block jobs to people who would work harder and for less overseas.
overmind25 3 years ago
But why would an american go to college to work a 30,000 dollar job? Where is your incentive to spend all of that money. Business startup takes alot of capital, capital is difficult to save up when you make a low wage. You could just go into construction and make alot more. When I say paid less I mean alot less perhaps half as much, look at india. And many of these countries have free higher education. With no enviromental or wage standards can we really compete with them, should we ditch ours?
bukakkesake 3 years ago
Yeah, it's too bad that Baldwin doesn't seem to understand the benefits of free trade. He's like Pat Buchanan on that issue.
As for the tariff, if it's uniform, that's better than an income tax, right?
As for the platform, it doesn't just refer to God, it refers to Christ. I'm a Christian, and I don't even think that's necessary or proper. Am I to believe that if I don't like tariffs I'm not a good Christian?
All that said, I'm still leaning towards Baldwin. But I have yet to watch this.
RMMHS4RP 3 years ago
And yet there are people who don't think he's a theocrat..... Though I don't think you should go so far as to say that if you don't like tariffs you're not a good Christian, public policy should never be motivated by religious belief... that's one thing the separation of church and state guarantees.
mindtraveler2350 3 years ago
I don't think Baldwin himself is a theocrat, though there may well be some of them in the CP. But I have yet to hear him justify a single public policy prescription by pointing to the Bible. None of the planks in the CP's platform does so, either, though the preamble refers to Christ.
That suggests that the party has some vague theocratic tendencies, but not every member does, nor does every candidate they field. Baldwin has proven to me that he doesn't.
