I hope the text with the video is not lost.It was some informations about me and thanks to the Master that I always watch when I have a bad day vocally....He should have lived much longer to teach an guide.....
I have this on DVD, and for me it shows that Pavarotti could act, it's an excellent performance. Not just this aria but throughout. A true genius who is still greatly missed.
Bjorling video is very interesting but he skips the aria, sings the begining and end very well but he never sang it in the opera and sometimes del monaco also skipped it live, tucker, peerce, pav all sang it as here. Pav did it here in 1986, one of his best roles.
Pavarotti good as always! A tip: listen to "Jussi Björling Forse la soglia attinse from New Orleans 1950". From 3.45 to 4.20 it´s magic! But please don´t compare with this. It´s a completely different singing and from a recital with bad recording conditions. Espcially the lower and mid frequency tones are reduced by this. JUST LISTEN AND ENJOY!
una vita dedicata all'opera...la qualità della voce è eccelsa...la tecnica vocale è perfetta...LUCIANO SEI IL TENORE PER ANTONOMASIA...sei unico....LE CORDE VOCALI BACIATE DAL SIGNORE.....
luciano pavaotti sung beautiful and very touching this aria, especially when i hear "m'a se me forza perderti", just to die because the emotions he arouse me.
Nemorino-The criticism was mainly along the lines of "he's got a small repertoire", "his acting is not good", "he shouldn't be singing spinto roles" and such. Basically, those were criticism to legitimize lesser tenors such as Domingo who was a midget as compared to Pava's operatic artistry.
I agree with you. I think he was the greatest tenor ever. Every singer has weak spots, but Pavarotti faced them with great maestry and competency. Almost everything in him is not less than good.
Pavarotti weak spots where part of his art and that' s why Pavarotti was a great artist...made of his weak spots great sounds and interpretation... like a man voice (wich is great and gave to his sound a personality) and not like a singer' s voice.
The year 1990 was the year Pavarotti shut his critiques up. He brought the audience to their knees with Tosca in Rome. Then he gave a splendid rendition of La Boheme in San Fransisco with Ms. Freni where he produced a glorious top C in O Suave Fancuilla. And then a superb performance of the Ballo in Maschera. And all that at age 55!
I agree with the statement below: the Stradivarius of voices! He is not at his absolute best here, but is nevertheless better than just about anyone, certainly in the current cadre of tenors.
This is from the MET taping of the performance. I have this recording -- off the tv. The soprano was Millo (to die for) and the baritone was Nucci. Also Harolyn Blackwell as the page. It is a recording worth acquiring.
He has been better, but considering his age here he is still quite amazing.
Thanks a million for this! Beyond words
