awwww~~!~I wanted to get one of these little cuties, but I have 8 parakeets already and my moms like not while you live under my roof! Lol but yours is so tame and nice ;)
i have acute little female blue pacific... and she is a little nipper but doesnt bite as badly, as when i first got her. she doesnt play either... with her cage toys nor foot toys. but just enjoys sitting next to you.. she also just causes mayhem with her buddy in crime trouble a budgie. and tries to find other BIGGER birds to pick on.. like my 1 yr grey lol or my conure
aww thats adorable :D. I have a parrotlet that we rescued from well...actually he just flew in our garage but anyway, he is so funny and cute but agressive. does yours switch moods from cute and loving to wanting to bite your fingers?
Apparently if you act afraid of them or flinch when they bite you they will think they are in charge. In fact, once they find out that it frightens you it will make them more likely to continue doing it as they find it amusing. The best thing to do is simply take it and they will eventually learn, but goodness can they bite! Likewise, you're not supposed to set them on your shoulders or head or they will feel like they are commanding you, although I break that rule all the time.
He started off not wanting to be held by me, always flying away or trying to get back to his brother and sister. Daily interaction and persistence is what helped me get him to that point. I also separated him from his brother and sister so that he bonded with me instead of with them. He still got to play with them but he had his own cage and he could not see them. The first and last person he sees and interacts with is me. :)
It took a few months before I would rub Yesil's head, and once I started, he insisted on certain spots being rubbed. Even better than a head rub, is sitting on the wrist of someone willing to sing to him. He tucks his head under his wing and listens for as long as someone is willing to sing.
I was just wondering i research i done so far said that keep more than 2 parrotlet they "make less of pet quality". I been thinking about getting one but not sure.
When you have more than one they tend to bond with each other rather than with you. As I mentioned in an earlier reply, I had to separate him from his brother and sister so that he'd bond with me instead but he still got to play with them. Hope you decided on getting one of these little guys!
omg my parrolet i put him on my finger and and HE BITE ME SO HARD well i mean BITES he just started bitting my thumb none stop then it was bleeding :(
I love yours, I just got one today, she looks exactly like that, and she's absolutely BOUND to me. She wont go in her cage at all, she stays in my hand and cuddles. :)
i have a little green pacific parrotlet. we watched the video together and my bird, kiwi, was ready to kill bubba! kiwi doesn't usually attack computer screens. *sweat sweat*
you say he was a cuddlebunny. is he ok? or is he no longer with you? if hes no longer with you I want to give you my condolenences. I have a parrotlet and love him so much. Yours is really cute you can tell hes very affectionate
He's no longer with me. Unfortunately, I had to leave him behind with my ex when I moved out of the Province. :( I'm not sure if he's left this world but I thank you for your wishes.
My parrotlet, Whisper, is a cuddle bug too <3

@Miagirl33 your mom might not even notice a tiny little bird like a parrotlet if you already have so many parakeets

Highly recommended, these guys are so affectionate, smart and playful, even when upset their bites are more like a pinch which doesn't hurt.
They do require a lot of attention and will complain when they can't be with you so only get one if you have the time to give them the attention.

I would love to give a home to a bunch of them.

hello there, i got 2 parrotlets today, hehe they seem rly scared. how do u make them "trust the hand"
Onehitiggi 2 years ago
Time and patience. Encourage him with treats. It took one of mine several months to trust me enough to let me hold him, but now he's very sweet.
