Everything here is just right. A superb soloist playing a magnificent cello with a fine orchestra in a near-perfect acoustic. And if the sound recordists were women as well, it would round off the package very nicely.
Thank you, Peter1945, for an excellent posting. Greetings from NZ.
Dear Peter I didn´t havethe pleasure to meet you yet but reading what you offered to one of the listeners listed below, I´d like you to make a full copy of this performance. It is delightfull. I´m in Brazil so far. Thank you. Caio Maghidman
This is wonderful.Having a daughter who plays violin and a son who plays cello this has brought tears to my eyes. What an AMAZING Kol Nidre. Is there anyway I can get a dvd of this whole performance?
Deeply moving romantic interpretation, so nice to hear this alongside the transparant Jaqueline du Pre version and the crackling but hypnotising Pablo Casals posted by my Youtube friends, thanks all
Tranquility and sincerity in the relation between man and God in sound, I am not a believer but tears in my eyes
the level of emotion with which she plays this beautiful music is simply astounding. it is as if she is feeling all of the pain that Jews have been forced to exprience all these many thousands of years
Very good, very full of emotion.... The only flaw it has would be that the accompanying orchestra is too loud for the cellist to be heard clearly, but otherwise, very wonderful. Personally I prefer duPre's version for the little slides and similar emotion but Miteva's just as good.
How ironic that this sacred Jewish prayer music should be played in a Christian church whose emblems of crucifixion hang behind the orchestra, perhaps a reminder of the tragic history of all religions seeking to dominate THE OTHER.
Your right, it is a sacred Jewish Prayer, I am also a Jew, but cant you put your differences aside and see beauty that Teodora Miteva brings to this Beautiful sacred Jewish Prayer?
oh my god. du pre is completely different - this one is so full of raw emotion. i do prefer this one - the reverb is just amazing and i had goosebumps all the way. fantastic sensitive orchestra too.
Good, very good... i heard better orchestras, like Karajan, but that one is Very Good..... when i grow up, i want to be like you, just in male version ;) hehe... again, good work...
Excellent technique and musicianship on everyone's behalf. The venue is not ideal as it has too much echo. I prefer a somewhat larger ensemble versus the chamber orchestra featured here.
Brava! Miteva! Superb rendition of Kol Nidrei. And an outstanding orchestra too that could give its all male -- chauvinist -- counterparts, the illustrious Wiener Philharmoniker a run for its money! Make way you guys we don't you need you no more. SD Goh (Malaysia)
Hello ! We like our male counterparts. we got our chance because of their -women-abstinence ! And we want for instance play our version of the New Years Concert everywhere in the world, where from we get an invitation !
Very, very beautiful performance (and cellist! I want her recordings <3), warm tone and full expression, too bad she manhandled the ending (the high D at 4:29), and I hate the cameraman for zooming to the orchestra girls - I needed to see her fingering and bowing at 3:18!
Beautiful cellist, she plays very well.Orchestra is much to loud which takes away from enjoying the piece. Basically the conductor must be deaf, huh? Let the cellist have the floor.
She is so beautiful. And she plays amazingly well. So sad that there are fewer Bulgarians like her. Check out the "Bulgarian Music Idol" audition clips here on YouTube and you'll understand what I mean.
Beautiful. I didn't know some orchestras were segregated.

This performance is as good as it gets. Ms. Miteva played the cello perfectly with passion and gusto. Thank you for the two-part video.

Very nice. I'm playing this piece right now, it's amazing.
What I love is that it's really easy to connect my emotions with this song.
This video is just amazing in that emotional aspect. Amazing.
Only criticism I can think of is how tense she is. Lighten up! =)

As far as I know, Bruch was a protestant; he took the jewish tune and turned it into this.
It's in the nature of these religions. Most human cults are like that. And they certainly wouldn't be the size they are if that wasn't the goal.
