@girlnamedjo Thank you. This is a remarkable effort. I doubt anyone complaining about the acting has any experience with actual small scale acting in theater or indie films. The acting was on par for semi-professional local talent, the type you would expect to volunteer for a not-for-profit film like this one . Not to mention their budget was about $38,990,000 less than what they had to film Serenity with. Not much room to do multiple takes. You'd be surprised what effect that alone can have.

The actors in this clip are too "aware" of themselves. I can't put it any other way. Maybe "smug" is the word I'm looking for here. The acting is forced (and quite bad) and the "too-similar" appearance of the crew pulls me right out the fantasy. Nobody else can pull this off except for the original Serenity crew.
I can't do any better but unfortunately the verse doesn't interest me very much unless it's that little corner of it that the crew of the Serenity call home.
it's the sequel to Serenity without the characters. i think you made the characters too similar so it doesn't seem like something i wanna watch. don't get me wrong, i totally support your cause and i think you put it together kinda well but if you're gonna change the characters, at least make them more originally. Mal named his ship Serenity because of the battle where he lost everything and here you are calling your ship redemption. not original enough for me

I can see how the idea of this kinda rocks, but I have to agree with most of the other comments. This is f$cking lame.Why do all fan films suck? The best part is always the trailer. I love the show, and I was pretty excited for this so when I heard they were having a showing at the Science Fiction Convention , I made it a point to wait an hour in line to stand in a stuffy room and watch it and I couldn't even make it to the 10 minute mark.
This is hard to watch without grimacing. Almost as bad as "Star Wars Revelations" was in '05. The self-awareness factor and bad acting is quite high. The girl playing the Captain is probably one of the worst actresses I've seen in a while. The delivery is dry and has no emotion behind it. I know that a lot of fans are behind this production, but you should all expect more. Why outright copy the premise of the original show? Surely they could have told a better story in the same universe.
I love the fact that there are fans out there that love firefly this much but this looks so horrible Joss Whedon should commit suicide just so he can roll over in his grave. If your going to rip something off at least do it right, this is wrong.

@ManiacKomplex The effects are about 30% from the final version. Hopefully you've checked out our most recent trailer with our effects upped just a bit. We're still working on the final texturing of the ship, but we'll be overhauling all the trailers once we do.

We just uploaded it and are still getting "This video is still being processed. Video quality may improve once processing is complete." May need to give it a bit for color clarity.

Aaah, I was worried when the palette kept changing. But overall you got the Serenity/Firefly palette down pat! Upsetting I couldn't be around to help with this :(
