o right, im 15 right now and had slipped upper femoral ephysis in my left hip and had my left hip pinned, now i have been told i have chondrolysis which is cartralige loss stiffnes of the leg, could you continue normal activites after ur slipped ephysis on ur left femur? and also did u have any stiffnes or arthritis in ur hip, i dont know any one who has had anything similar apart from my freind but he says his legs normal and only his leg leg diffrence affects him slightly
I had my slipped epiphysis when I was twelve....my restrictions in activity came from the dysplasia. I'm not sure what limits I would have had if I'd only happed the slipped epiphysis. I don't remember much arthritis when I was young, but it did develop in both hips when they wore out later.
ok thanks for your help, hows life now with your new hips and what does your future seem to be like for you? i know i have this and i constantly think about it all the time because i currently in pain all the time and walk with a limp, i cant play out with my freinds or anything at all. also because of chondrolysis i have lost a lot of cartralige which i know i will have a hip replacement a few years down the line
Life now is fantastic! I'm three years post-op on my resurfacings and my activity level is higher than ever! You really need to put hip repalcament on the back burner and research hip resurfacing. I've done a ton of research and the only device I can recommend is the BHR(Birmingham Hip Resurfacing). And you must choose a top surgeon who has lot's of experience. The best place to start would be hipresurfacingsite com, a website run by my very good friend(and fellow hippy).
am not looking to get a hip replacement as im only 15 and my right hip is fine, my left has lost some cartralige and im guessing i will have to have a hip replacement within 10 or 20 years, i cant find ur story; could you send me a link? thanks for your help i really appreciate it and it means the world to me letting me know on your experience thanks ever so much !
I hope you never need a replacement. I'm not terribly familiar with Chondrolysis, but it sounds like it can be pretty destructive. The youngest person I know of to have her hip Resurfaced was 14 years old. Her story is also on hipresurfacingsite com. Agian, I hope your recover well and never need another surgery.

hey why did u have both hips done at 31 ? did you have slipped upper femoral ephysis or something similar to that ?

I did have a slipped epiphysis on my left femur, but the main reason my hips wore out was bilateral dysplasia.
