I have a variation of this technique, and when I do it, I don't do the follow through, I just stop and focus all the power at the point of impact and keep my body straight. It generates more power and is very, very fast and low. Great way to fool a keeper.

Think of it this way. A foot ball is a projectile, just like a bullet. Before bullets became cone shaped they were just balls shot from straight bors. Gun bors eventually became grooved to send the ball spinning, so it would stay accurate. Before that, the 'bullet' would come out with no spin and vere wildly. This is because spin keeps air flow around a projectile relatively constant. With no spin, a projectile will move, or knuckle. So the key to knuckling a football is hit it with no spin.
