@HeySlowPokes alright mate.. ok first ofall the flight was fantastic i was very pleased with the economy seat space. it was suprisingly quiet, on take off roll it sound as though you are still taxiing, i wasnt dissapointed with the warther coz im mostly used to it as i lived ther for the first 12 years of my life.. i have only been in brisbane 4 years.
@powerade159 Dear powerade, Thanks for your response and info. . I see that you have photographed the rear seating of the main floor; all of the seats in that section are slightly narower than all other ecconomy seats on the plane. . I sat there and noticed the difference with my first-sector seat, which had been in a closer-to-the-front cabin. . It is because that plane narrows and so the isle also narrows and the seats. . The plane was very full. . cheers. from, del-boy
@powerade159 The airplane was quieter than a 777 type jet, and it made very much less noise when landing and when taking-off. . Reverse thrust is not used when landing either; landing approach is a gentle ride. . The selection of audio-visual entertanment is very wide; I watched Rebeccca 1940 by Alfred Hitchcock, and heaps of 1960's music Beatles etc. . The food was nice and they served Icecream too. I was seated next to a snoring may, with mouth open. Cheers. from, del-boy.
I tried the Economy class of Emirates A380, didnt fly tho but sat in the Economy as test, It is comfortable for Me (Im Fat) and there is very good leg space. I dont know about Singapore coz they dont come to Dubai with A380 so i didnt try them yet
I'm trying hard not to laugh at those of you who expected an Economy class seat to become a flat bed.
That will NEVER happen on any airline in a foreseeable future.
Economy = cattle class. Economy on any airline doesn't vary much.
Here on SIA's A380 the seats look comfortable, there is a space for passengers to chat at the back. It looks like a good Economy cabin. I dont know it its the best.
haha with the economy today and the boom of air travel, no airline would dare to offer that form of economy. If they did they would have to charge a premium, no one wants to pay $3000 for an economy seat. But if SQ made a small section devoted for premium economy they would end up making money. Simply because it does not matter how much a ticket cost, people still fly with SIA. Great service is the key.
SQ all ready charges fares that are considered to be crazy. Economy $1400-$1600, Business class $3000-$5000, first class $5000-6000, and suites $7000 and upward. YET! SQ still manages to pull in a profit. Last quarter, even with the rise of oil, SIA made a profit of $675 million....So yes, i think SIA would do just fine if they ever decide to put in a Premium Economy section.
that's probably so given that SQ is the only one flying it commercially at the moment. I hope other airlines like Emirates will make economy much more roomier than ever before!
lovefun2, it may look cramped but I have heard of people who have the seat in front recline and they are 6 foot 4 inches tall and still feel fine. It uses a new system that helps conserve pitch.

As an airline worker this aircraft it is just a nightmare...too many people too much drama in the mean time the US flyer is driven by price so no way us airlines can afford this aircraft.. US flyer wants cheap and good.. well that is not the case here in the States.. we provide the service the US customer pays for.. yes u better fly SINGAPOOO airlines, relaxed labor laws, subsidized by the goverment of Singapore and again no labor rights... pretty huh? pretty aircraft yes.
um no US airline can afford this plane because we're to poor. Face it, United, American, Delta even all added up arent Financially stable like Singapore Airlines. As Americans, we pay the premium fare and get crappy ass service from grannies and get overall nasty inflight product.
FOr singapore airlines passengers who pay the premium fare, they get Great service, Great food, Great entertainment and overall a Great Exsperience. And dont compare Singapore AIrlines to our American carrier because its like comparing Apples to Oranges NO relavent point.
hey californiamare, don't talk about my nation like that. I'm a citizen of Singapore and the USA and I'm ashamed to have UA, DL and AA represent one of my nations. Luckily, my national carrier SIA more than makes up for that. What the heck, "Singapoo Airlines?" ever flown with them? btw SIA receives no subsidies, everything is financed by Singapore Airlines. It has been the constant innovation and service standards which make the company so rich and sucessful.
Seriously, californiamare, what is the problem you have with my country? Are you jealous because American crews are old, inefficient, and rant around because of pay?
so what if singaPORE airlines is subsidized by the government? it's now financially independent and superbly profitable. superlatives rain on the airline for it's service and growth, and to hell with labour rights cuz we don't even need them here.
Of course, for this or whatever reason, I am just a little underwhelmed. Because sitting in the cabin, having been the first to fly the biggest and most modern aircraft in history (today), having bidded, having digested the marketing hype of the first to fly A380... expecting it to make history..... it feels no different than traveling in a 777-ER. As a passenger, my responsibility is not to research on why is it indifferent.
I know that it was supposed to be launched on the A380 first, but couldn't due to the delays. But as a passenger, I am supposed to be looking forward to "a new way to fly" with the A380.... but not exactly the same experience on the 777-ER.
acriflavine, I understand that maybe you were expecting something different but the Y class was supposed to be on the A380 first as you said. The 77W has a slightly-scaled down version of A380 J and Y. Oh well, it is still the best product on the market.
It was already known that the Economy and Business would be almost the same as 77W. They were supposed to be launched on the A380 but due to the delays that was not possible. Also, people who have reported about their trips in suites have not complained of claustophobia. And about all those grand/crazy items in the A380, only some airlines talked about that and SIA was sensible enough not to advertise it or let pax expect it. These new cabins really are the best! Btw suites aren't F class
Doesnt look that good. very crowded and not that luxurious.

i was expecting seats that can fold into a flat surface on economy class....stupid airbus.....
Rachamacha 3 years ago
ah... that won't happen for a long... long... long time.
actually, for as long as airlines are interested in making big money, instead of listening to customer's wants & needs.

Space for passengers to even stand up and have a chat without getting in the way. Not bad. Economy still looks cramped whatever ppl say.

economy will always be economy. thats the way it will be. However, the new SQ economy is probably the best in the market.
