  • it depends:

    - white is for women, blue for men

    - white is for kyuu degree, blue is for dan degree

  • Where? In our dojo it is purely matter of personal taste (though only two people have white and they are both girls)

  • Where I go its dependant of degree (de blue keikogi is given as present by the club if you reach 1st dan), where a budy of mine goes it depends on male/female. Sinde note: I even know people with an orange keikogi (which would be equivalent to a stars-n-stripes keikogi for the US)

  • usually in japan, blue gi and hakama are used in most cases.

but some girls prefers white gi and hakama, and some guys do the same (white's)

and some more uncommon used pair is black gi and black hakama.

as far as i know, it doesnt depends on grade/gender.

  • the korean national team uses white hakama and gi, too.

it depends on the personal taste.

  • @Cropsgrinder another version is that Nakayama Hakudo sensei used white gi and hakama to sort of make his student wash there own gi and especially the hakama more often. I think that tradition is still practiced in his dojo.
