i just purchased voice band and i have the original iphone. When i start it up it says i need an external mic. I do not have my iphone headphones with the external mic. Please update so origginal iphones don't need an external mic. If not, please refund.
Something is strange. I am using the same kit -- "Rock Kit 1" and it doesn't sound anything like this. The lower left box (BD) sounds NOTHING like his. And where' all this base coming from? This is enhanced big time.
Actually, we didn't do any additional processing to the kit in the demo. It is just the Rock Kit 1 that comes built into the app. We recorded it using line out, right into the PC. It definitely won't sound like this when using the iPhone speaker, though (especially the bass drum). You really need some good quality headphones to hear the deep bass.
It is a beautiful app. Whilst my skills don't match those in the video, I can get some pretty expressive stuff out of it. I almost didn't believe that the latency in the mic mode would be so good, but it really is impressive. I can't get the "count in" to work on the recorder (it always starts straight away) but other than that it is awesome.
Since the touch velocity is only available to the iPhone and not the iPod Touch, I would like to know if the velocity data is being translated from the loudness picked up through the iPhone's mic or from some secret iPhone only API. I'm betting it's the mic.
You guessed it, we use the mic. We've applied for a patent on this method, and are currently licensing it to other developers to include in other music apps. If you're interested is using this in your app, let us know. The licensing is very reasonable.
At first I thought "why would I want another drum sequencer app" but now I see this is a viable virtual drum kit, a bit like a mini BFD in your pocket. At least, it's the only app I know that has expressive, dynamic playability, so props there. I wondered how someone could make an app velocity-sensitive and now I know!

Yeah, I already bought it and like it :-)

Why would you patent a fundamental function of the device? I really don't think Apple would be happy with that.

Very impressive. Clever design and good demo.
