NO SE COMPARA AL KARATE JAPONES SHOTO KAN, LOS MOVIMIENTOS SON MUY BURDOS , LAS TABLAS SON MUY DELGADAS Y LOS BLOCKS BLANCOS SE VEN QUE ESTAN PREPARADOS, LOS KOREANOS NO TIENEN HUMILDAD, SON UNOS PAYASOS.
Because i train both, i cannot say which is better, but i can say that tae kwon do and karate are realy the most spiritual martial arts, but i wouldnt dare to compare them which is better.
I think for good fighter you have to do both + some grapling like judo or hapkido.....other grapling i dont know what is good.
Its called a demonstration. Taekwondo is known for its flashy demos. Even if what they are doing in the demo is ineffective in a 'real' fight, you have to admire what they do.
but theres a big lot of art, compasion and understanding in these practices, it gives u dicipline, pride, respect, strenght, beyond your thoughts, what u see here is fast pase practice routines, theres a lot of sharper ways to practice this, is a matter of timing with content in must of the videos, whatch the other one that has the funcky rithm beat, watch...
what people dont know is that tko is a war martial art, develop to neutralise, kill at the first hits, a good formulated kick to your throat, chest, head or stomack can kill easyly..
You guys know this is just a demo right? I mean I run a tkd school with my husband and we do great demos at World Championships for show too, but that is just that - show -. We can fight just as well as any other martial art. Where you train, how hard you train and the level of your instructor makes the difference. Stop slamming the whole art just because a couple schools are bad. Also tkd artists never fight for money because we fight for honer, integrity, self worth, and to defend ourselves.
TKD people find some strange security in numbers. and choreography. my dojang instructor (a big name in the NY region) used to explicitly brag about how well choreographed students he had churned out of the assembly line when he was korea. the superficiality of this art is what really turned me off in spite of being one of his best students. is this emphasis on superficiality because they never fare well in professional competition under unified rules like K-1?
actually, serkan yilmaz *fought* in K-1. and he never made it far.
TKD apologists were quick to hail the korean yong soo park's victories in K-1. but he too recently got beaten by a thai half his size and having trained a lifetime in TKD switched to training with muay thai athletes in pattaya. come off it! they don't train professionally and it doesn't work.
Yes?, and that is why the Korean military, both South and North use Taekwondo to train there soldiers because its SOOOO ineffective. Oh did I mention the South Korean Marines who were trained in Taekwondo, had a kill ratio of 25 to 1? Look up Operation Van Buren and the Battle of Hoi An.
Of course the Taekwondo they use in the Olympic Games would be ineffective in a street fight. But who is to say that Olympic fighters will fight like this on the street? If anyone thinks that TKD is weak, then I suggest you go into a fight with a TKD fighter, with Olympic rules. Its not as easy as it seems.
You are allowed to punch, to the body only. Your allowed to kick with shin to the shield, but thats ineffective, I mean, I've done that multiple amounts of times and have winded opponents, but its nothing unless its on the scoreboard. Hitting with the foot to the shield makes a louder sound which gets the point. Its a waste of energy trying to knock someone out all the time, its much more efficient just getting points and winning. However, the kicks still hurt, and you can trust my word on that.
Look up "Pro Taekwondo" and watch the video titled "PRO Taekwondo ESPN fight"...its basically Olympic Taekwondo with no protective gear, apart from mouth guards and groin guards I'm pretty sure.
Rest his soul. You have my favoruite fighter Kenji Midori. a little guy that is 1.60m and 70kg, he won all japan open and world championship in open weight category. that means he fought pepole up to at least 120kg!!!
A friend of mine that is practicing kyokushin for years(and he s good at it believe me!)when came as a friend with my school in a tournament of WTF TKD really freaked out with the speed and intensity of some of the matches.Believe me Even sport TKD is really difficult and tough.
considering the fact that i've never seen or heard of a professional TKD fighter who earned his living through fighting and fighting alone, like boxers or muay thai artists, i think you're right. its mostly restricted to amateur level competition and opening up mcdojos. only when the money offered in the sport is sufficient for a living can we expect it to really evolve into a formidable style. i think its true in general.
wtf no its not dam u guys r so stupid stop saying all these bullshit if u dont even no crap, it not just for a show, do u even no korean history? they used it to fight with invaders like chinese and japanese and it is good for your body . wtf do u mean just for a show? r u fcking retarded?

I'd say any martial art can match another because you can't judge a martial art you can just judge the martial artist.

I admire their speed actually.
but that is about it, I'm a Kyokushin myself and that is another world to think both fighting and selfdefense.

I would say Taekwondo is ineffective as they got in the olympic games.
Krav Maga is a much easier style to learn and much more efficiant

but the olympic rules are just rubbish, only hitting with the foot??? the weakest part of the entire leg!!
if you remove the west you can seriously injur your opponent, you have to use stronger parts of the body.
The olympic TDK is a joke to martial arts!
of course i would struggle in their rules, I use my arms to punch a lot, to allso set up kicks and that kind, but that is not existant in Olympic TDK

that is my point, you are fighiting for points...
Go with Knockdown rules and the experiance is otherwise.
well think about removing that west and still fight, and see how THAT hurts;)

that is tougher than most other:P

Haha, I've seen Kyokushin. I actually admire Kyokushin fighters, they produce some of the toughest in the world. For Example: Andy Hug. =]
