@Miken2341 sorry to dissapoint you but FM 6 is Front Mission Evolved which is totally different from this, it is not a strategy game but a First Person Shooter, you should get Front Mission 5 though its pretty much the same as this one, it's for the PS2, not sure if it is for PC or Xbox...
@Lancelt666 it hasnt the number 6 right next to it, but it's the sixth realese in the franchise...If you like these kind of games (tactical) I still dont recommend it, if you like armored cores like games, it will probably like u.
You should make sure to get the Minataur Arms for Darril's team it makes his team kick so much ass it's not funny. The Minataur Arms come with a double firing bazooka AND a very powerful (and wide blast area) rocket launcher. You can give one to Ines and the other to whoever you want to start learning rocket and bazooka skills. Then you will be the scourge of the enemy lol.
Just got done playing through FFT for the fourth time, This looks like the next level. I could play this game for about 2 years, easy. Great review, man.
evolved is more my speed ~ I can cee why the knickers R twistin' w/ the front mission fans ~ though ~ but hey ~ least it wasn't like Rayman 3 ~ cheers *
Hmm I suspect mr reviewers troops have low dodge. Evasion pwns on this game, I had Elsa so high on evasion sometimes the AI guys could never touch her. hehe
@Luminahawke Yeah I had her and Latona and Bach at about 48% evasion. Funny thing is I ditched the EMP pack and gave Latona a hornet bazooka arm and a pilebunker. She was evading and returning fire with the bazooka or stabbing folks lol.
This game was really amazing, Sometimes I would be locked into a battle for over an hour, I have like 4 more guys to kill and all my characters are wounded. I would have to really think about every move and still win. The feeling of accomplishment in that situation is what strategy games are all about. FM4 RULED.
Okay, who's with me when I say that the last simulation (13) for the Durandal team is the hardest mission ever?!! (although you do get kick ass back packs).
-Oh, and the Ziege RF is hands down the best weapon in the game with the right amount of AP.
OMG seeing this part of the front mission 4 review makes me wanna play the game again. When i first fought Wanger back in Germany he beat my ass but after that I went back first training mission and got some exp and money to buy better weapons and armor and new skills he was much easier. I love this game a lot 4/5
You've made a fairly good review here. One thing I criticize: you should always keep personal opinions to yourself and focus on the actual game itself.
It's OK to rant about graphics and gameplay, but debating the realism behind the use of giant robots in wars is meaningless. If you think it's ridiculous to have robots with brass knuckles, the idea of using giant robots itself is already ridiculous in the first place. You should save that for after-review rants.
I totally disagree. It is oxymoronic to insist that a reviewer keep his opinions to himself. That's like asking a comic to keep his opinions to himself, or a basketball player to keep the ball to himself. A review is a collection of personal opinions about what is being reviewed.
What would you have him say instead? What year the game came out? The number of hitpoints each of his mechs has? That would make the review rather dull.
@tubular87 Yeah I use to review for a couple of magazines here in Australia back in the 90's and I always stuck to my guns and kept my opinion... my opinion!
Not really. Mechwarrior has some realistic mechs that could actually be possible, and I am sure given enough time, giant robots WILL be possible, and needed to crush those pesky infantry, vehicles, and countries XD
Nah, I would rather think it would be the world vs china, seeing as china being as oppressive as it is wouldn't have giant robot technology so all the world would smile and realize china is now a defenseless metaphorical sandbox for everyone to play together XD
what do you mean no replay value, when you restart you get all the leftover credits from when you beat it. This lets you get insane robots for the entire game.
You can jump right in and start with FM4, there isn't any real continuity with the storyline between versions. Just make sure to do the tutorials in the game which help get you up to speed on the gameplay. -CGRHD
I like this game very much (IMO it is waaay better than FM5). Are there any other turn based strategies without knights, summons andpells on PS2 ?

Strategy is my favorite when I want to get lost in a story, as 1 of the characters although most do get repetitive.

You might want to try some of the Super Robot Wars series.
The latest one for the PS2, Super Robot Wars Z, has some of the best sprite animation I have seen.
