    We should all be flying to work in private space shuttles by that logic. Plasma still gets used, and will continue to do so, because what it lacks (slightly) in precision is made up for by it being a fraction of the cost when compared with lasers, It will continue to be so because the fundamental technology is more basic for plasma. Gas torches produce messy cuts, but they are cheaper still and can cut far thicker materials than either of the others.
