I can't tell someone else what is right for them, but I would like it be more acceptable for all our hair textures, styles and types to be universally embraced by ourselves, let alone by greater society. Your hair shouldn't dictate the types of jobs you should be eligible for, but it does because society also has an impression of what someone is like based off their hair.

First my comment on the video, I agree good hair is healthy hair we need to teach our children and ignorant people that. I liked that chris rock made it funny too because people would have been mad because it is a tough subject. The topic of black hair can go deeper than just hair. It is a problem that we have to work on ourself, and we been brainwash by the media to be european. No matter what color or race you are be happy for who you are. Every time someone says "good hair" I respond by asking "What is good hair?" No one has ever given me an answer that makes since. You can have kinky hair that is good. You can have straight or curly hair that is bad. If your hair is healthy, no matter the texture, it's GOOD. If that shit is constantly breaking off, edges are GONE then that mess is BAD. People of all cultures have good and bad hair.

What i dont understand is that every time somebody see's a black person w/ good hair or long hair we always have to be mixed! I haven't seen it yet and want to but I was wondering how many woman that rock their natural hair on the daily (not permed/ not straightened) were featured in this film? Cause when I saw the preview there were only people with straightened hair and weaves sharing their perspective on the topic...

My hair is natural and I wear it curly, straight, and in an afro sometimes because I like versatility. I have noticed that commercials are getting a lot of natural women to be part of their commercials. For example, that birth control commercial where the women are taking off their caps and getting into the pool, that black girl has natural hair. They should've gotten women with natural hair to speak on the topic. What can a permed hair chick tell me about natural hair?..............nothing.

Some of the stuff in the movie were educating, enlightening & positive but some of it was degrading & stereotyping too unless he'll be making a part 2 to it with people like Paris Hilton & Britney Spears talking about their weaves.And I know african americans with curly hair that aren't mixed.

the white girls dont get blamed for perms and weave because they don't do it as much. the white girls are content with their straight hair normally so they don't need more weave, plus it would be expensive, probably only the really thin-haired white girls get extensions.
the hair dye girls put in isn't really controversal cuz they all white girls anyway they arent tryin to b another race and its obvious they aren't. most white girls never get perms to get curly hair any more, that was the 90's

I wore my hair straightened and long down my back one night out (i'm dark skinned) and a Caucasian lady came up and asked me where I got my weave, I was like "what do you mean?" she goes "that's not ur natural hair is it? It's too pretty" I said yes and she would not belive me and insisted that I had tracks put in and tried to touch my hair. It's all my natural hair and I was so offended I just walked away.

You should have let her touch it, but that's what I mean. People just assume it's not ours whenever they see a black girl with long hair so that's why they think we all wear weave. I used to get braids in my hair all the time & whenever I took them out people acted like they were shocked I had my own LONG hair underneath. My sister was even asked if she was mixed because her hair is really nice is what the white woman said that asked her, lol. Hilarious it all is.

No we are not the only culture that changes our outside appearance to meet some standard of "white" beauty because Brown people all over the world bleach and Asian people get eye surgery to look more European, etc. But I'd rather deal with the issues in my own community (than help white people realize that they too wear weaves sometime).

All hair has to be maintained and taken care of-it is a reflection of who you are. I can't tell someone else what is right for them, but I would like it be more acceptable for all our hair textures, styles and types to be universally embraced by ourselves, let alone by greater society. Your hair shouldn't dictate the types of jobs you should be eligible for, but it does because society also has an impression of what someone is like based off their hair.
