Interpretations of the Communist regime is caricatural as usual, I did not expect another thing. There is also full with stereotypes useless and already seen and re-examined. Too bad.
@senhuan Yes, one could make a film about difficulties of Soviets to buy an apartment, a car etc. But you cannot coarsely pile up these facts in a film about another subject, just to give the “Soviet” illusion - that has the completely weak air. The caricature - it is an exaggerated image of the real facts. as if I showed you somebody eating frogs to prove that he is French. do you understand?
@ratustaupus Although it is noble to look into something as being over-stereotyped for the sole purpose of entertainment while mangling facts, I am afraid you are wrong in this case. I have lived in the Soviet Union, and the movie is quite accurate.
@senhuan me also, I lived in the USSR in Riga. It was a closed world where reigned the dictatorship and the nonsense. it is another discussion. But to do a (good) film it is necessary to stick to priorities. When the decoration takes the top on the intrigue it is not well, that gives the impression of the decoration, even if you reproduce all its components.
@senhuan American tried to recreate Venice also (in Las Vegas). They recreated buildings, bridges, gondolas… but that always seems as false when you look at. Too much it is too much, quite simply. The American cinema suffers from the same defect.
@senhuan I adore a very old film of Fritz Lang “M” (1931) one of most subtle which tells the history of the serial killer. I 've had the impression that the realizer of CitizenX was inspired by it, because there are some very good sequences too.

Stephen Rea made this film great. When he wiped tears from his detective professional face. That got me to finish watching it.

I remember this movie, it's *VERY* disturbing. Sick to think it really happened. Had I seen this guy in real life I would have killed him myself.

This is such a great film. The humor could not be more subtle. It has great a pace to it. five stars all the way.

"3:53 Holy crap it's Woody Alan!"
It's not Alan. it's Jeffrey DeMunn. I knew him from many Stephen King's adaptations, like Storm of the century, the mist, etc.

The murder at the beginning of this part, was shot almost exactly how I had imagined them taking place.
