in what instances is it essensial to have a 4 channel mixer, because i have been eye ballin the stanton m207 (2 channel) and am not sure of which to choose =/
@cesar10rockemo If you are just using the mixer as a controller and you are using it for Traktor, Virtual DJ etc you can set the software to play the audio through your laptop speakers if you need. However it is just a single output soundcard you may not be able to benefit from DJ style cueing. An option maybe to purchase a DJ soundcard such as the Numark DJIO, Vestax VAI40 etc with multiple outputs suitable for cueing.
Would the sampler section also work when you're using the mixer as a MIDI controller?.. since you don't really get a sound signal through the mixer.. and what about the effect section?
@DJRoksor If you're just using your mixer for MIDI control, it is only sending a control signal, and so none of the analogue/digital audio features from the mixer will work.
@mrbounce1000 The BPM counter on the Behringer DDM 4000 is accurate to the nearest whole number, although you may find it favours itself to music with a strong 4/4 beat (i.e. off-beat drum 'n' bass may not come up as strong!)
HTFR Thank you for posting such an in depth review of this mixer. I am in the market for a new 4 channel mixer and now after watching your post I believe I have made my decision. I will be using this mixer with Ableton Live (APC40 along with it), a BOSS SP 505, NuMark turntable, and possibly a Korg Kaoss Pad..or the newer Kaossilator. I might run the SP 505 into the Korg, and still only be using just three channels.. Any suggestion on what to fill that fourth channel with??
i have this mixer its better than any mixer out ther i got it for $432.00 no flaws built in effects awesome mixxer i do recommend if ur on a low budget n need a bad ass mixer !!!!
ok than you very much, is there any way i could get a good setting for my mic, cuz for mic 1 the GAIN is actual turn in an off position and the mic still comes out when i talk on the mic, was wondering for a good mic clearity and also the talk over to be a little bit more is there any settings in the mic set up for a goos sound check mic quality and for my talk over to sound better please?
@djlangsex Good use of EQ in this situation can work really well. If you are playing bassy music, for example you may want to turn down the bass on the mic so the vocals and music to not clash. If you use techniques like this, and think about what frequencies need boosing and what needs turning down, you can get a great mix and sound quality.
@djlangsex The XMC feature on the DDM 4000 is the 'ultra mic processor' - an effect to enhance your vocals. The xmc vu button switches between showing the volume of the mic with the effect on or off, which is useful when soundchecking.
i just bought this mixer today, this digital mixer is H1N1 SICK!!! i was so impressed with its many features. i was working with it all day to get familiar with it and man is this the best investment ever!!! im sure that there is a few good analog mixers with the effects included out in the market, but none will do what the Behringer digital mixer does. Remember the keyword here is DIGITAL. Just like Serato is taking over turntables i'm sure that digital mixers are also going to catch on.
The last Behringer that I bought (Bought it in 2005), it was weak in their cue mixing function. I could hardly hear the music. And since I prefer to match my beats with my headphones on, this was an issue. How is the cue function on this one? Can you also hear the music clearly, you plan on using the gain controls, only??
The DDM 4000 headphone cue system is ideal if you really need to hear clearly when you are mixing. You can split the different tracks to the left and right channels on yourheadphones and there is also headphone EQ settings to bring out the punch of a snare, for example.
Here's my problem....the music coming out of my headphones is almost a 1/2 second delay of what's playing through the main speakers. This makes it nearly impossible to pull off a flawless mix. Ive never experienced anything like this before. What could be the problem here?
@botteman20 You may need to adjust the gain levels of your speakers/amplifier so you can have the master volume higher. It may be an idea to call our technical team on 0121 687 7777 so we can help you through the problem further, if you need :)
@djmayhem401 The ddm 4000 comes with curve adjust and reverse - ideal for scratch techniques. You may need an external soundcard when using with DJ software.
i bought this mixer for $369.99+tx and of course i added the 2yr warranty for $60.00 this product is well worth it i definitely recommend it without a DOUBT!
Is it possible to control 4 deck at traktor with this 4 channels? Is Traktor included? For this purpose is necessary an external soundcard? Will I need an optional usb cable? Or everything is included
Hi, i've just got this mixer in the past couple of weeks, really, really like it, the build quality on the faders doesn't feel as sturdy as some of the pioneer mixers ive used but the knobs and switchers are great and have a solid feel. the effects are pretty decent and the sampler is awesome. the last mixer i had was a numark dm01 and the ddm4000 is a huge step up in everything. hope this helps.
Would you think it will be good with this running Torq Dj and two Stanton T. 120 turntables? i will for the most play Hardstyle so it wouldnt be scratch all the time.
Basically i had 1 since febuary and trust me it beats the DJM800 fo features the only mixer i have seen that has more features is the SVM1000 and that hasnt got many more features but the price is £3800 or something.
DDM4000 is completly customizable in every way the fx has many settings to mess with and the mic section is the most advanced ever tested.
AARGHH! Someone help me, do I buy this or fork out an extra £450 for a djm 700? I've had a VMX 800 for a year and half the knobs are wobbling and causing interference when i use them. Are these ones gonna last longer??????
This can be compared to the DJM800 on a certain level but i prefer this mixer cause kill switches channel kill ultramize the customizability is unbeatable.
Not all the controls on the Behringer DDM 4000 are MIDI mappable. You can download the manual for this mixer direct from Behringer's website for more information.
The mixer looks quite impressive but whats the build quality like? I know a few people who have had behringer mixers and they've looked the part but been absolutely shocking i.e build and sound quality and poor effects. If these have change I could be tempted to buy one, if not I'll just carry on saving for a DJM700.
The DJX 700 has a bit of a bad reputation for reliability, however with the new DDM 4000 Behringer have sorted a lot of there prblems, the faders are a lot better, also the sound quality is now much improved thanks to a state-of-the-art 32-bit digital sound processor, build quality is also improved and the effects a lot easier to use.
Obviously its never going to be as good as the DJM range but its less than half the price of the DJM700 and it does the same job.
there is something called djx700 from behringer which i bought when they launched that model and unfortunately for me everything started leaking all the channel the headphones was leaking thru the main output and it was horrible playing in that mixer. a pro dj made a good statement by seeing my djx700 ,he said if you give peanuts u will only get monkey and iv learned my lesson and stoped giving peanuts to get monkeys.
This has a lot of features, but how does the quality of this mixer compares with a four channel Pioneer (600, 700, and 800)? I heard alot of comments that Behringer is a great practice mixer for the just getting started bedroom DJ, but sounds lousy on PAs and has a short life due to dodgey parts.
Behringer mixers are very simular to the Pioneer's design, but obviously the components inside are not up to pioneer standards hence the price. But for this price you cannot beat them on features, no other digital four channel mixer in this price zone has a Dual effects unit that can be assigned to any channel including the sampler, Dual sampler with reverse sample & Midi control, the list goes on & on. Also a two year no-quibble new for old warranty, so if it does break you get a brand new one!
Its a digital mixer, It'd Stand to reason the sound quality would be as good as you put into it? Maybe im wrong. I've just never seen a digital mixer that falls short on sound quality.
WOW this mixer nearly made me ruin my pants lol comapared to my mixer its like a space ship it has that many functions it nearly could be i must have this !
The sound quality is easily comparable, however as with all our equipment we suggest coming on store and giving it a try as what you may like, another dj doesn't.
Serato SCRATCH will work with any mixer as it use's time code vinyl and does not need any midi control, also of note is that Serato ITCH is not compatible.
Numark Cue will work but it makes it a bit tricky to use with the controls, if you have cue then the NUMARK TOTAL CONTROL is better.
However Traktor is better than cue, and Serato is different kind of set up...
How is the build quality? How much hiss is there? Faders, knob quality? I'm interested to see if this is a professional mixer or just for a beginner like the DJX700.
The Behringer DDM 4000 is still a budget mixer for what you get as comparable mixers are the Pioneer DJM 800 @ £1099! This is great for the bedroom DJ, wanting to add effects and MIDI into their sets. Everyone thats domo'd it in store has been impressed. As with buying any mixer, its always best to get hands on first to see how you like it, which you can do instore at HTFR.
Looks impressive but with the mass of features controlled with just a tap, the placement of the headphone jack so far up on the mixer is just begging to create havoc in a live DJ situation with the headphone cord draggng across the face of the mixer. You would think that the Behringer logo and headphone jack would do better if they swapped positions :(
You can use this mixer with a normal TT deck. The digital part of it is in relation to connecting it to a PC. You get a software update for Traktor in the box that allows you to use the mixer to control the software.
wow. Saw in in DJ Mag, impressive indeed. According to DJ Mag, it still doesn't beat brands like Pioneer. I guess it's just a lot of value for the money.
All Pioneer products are pretty much the top of their range and with a price that matches that. The Behringer is superb value for money for what you are getting and can also be connected to Traktor, allowing you to manipulate the program through the mixer.
best Preview on youtube ... Thanks!
