Ridge Racer Hi -Spec is missing from the list and Namco is not denaying R: Racing Evolution as a Ridge Racer game even if it is Gran Turimo with story mode. But yeah, the problem with Ridge Racer seems to be that Namco thought that it needed new style after 90`s. Namco should have kept the same Ridge Racer style and mood.
you forgot R: Racing Revolution...it was technically supposed to be ridge racer 5 i believe...namco felt so bad about the game that they actually apologized about it and said they were going to make an actual RR5
alright no offense to anyone who plays the newer versions of Ridge Racer but i personally don't like them only because now it's just like every other race car game with the nitro and all that. i like the PS1 version back from 1994 that was my favorite it was different now its all gussied up with the new cars a N2O and everything its just not the same
I love Ridge Racer, i hate myself for losing R4 i DOMINATED that easy ass game and my old Babysitter used 2 own Ridge Racer 2 now she lost that Dangit!
im sorry i didnt c it on there (DS) and u say R: Racing Evolution has a bad hybrid of simulation and arcade when u quickly acknowledge da weak versions of ridge racer 6 and 7 when they dont even apply emphasis of drifting nemore unlike ridge racer 5...seems like da gameplay heavily revolved around nitro (played out fad with da rest of tuner games) and if u r making a tribute video da series wouldnt it make sense 2 have all games in it produced by Namco?
R:Racing Evolution is a mediocre Ridge Racer spin-of but it isn't a Ridge Racer style driving game, it has a bad hybrid style driving between arcade and simulation.
Pocket Racer is a Ridge Racer spin-off with small cars (like a Micro Machine style driving).
really good video mate, loved seeing the evolution of the RR games, my fave is number 4. but i feel that namco have stopped trying to make RR a totally new experience like the first 4 were, now its just like the standard RR game for launch consoles, which is a shame. RR 4 was fucking brilliant but they just seemed to stop trying after that, the graphics in the new ones are good, but thats the only thing that seems to change!
or the different car brands all through the series. Even the music is bound to be followed.
Out of the Ridge saga, I tried emulating the other System22 titles, like Cyber Cycles, Alpine Racer (thanks for the videos), Ace Driver, Armadillo Racing or Prop Cycle. This last one is the only one I'm able to play at decent speed.
Amazing. I'm a Ridge Racer fan, this is the kind of video I wanted to see. I've just saw all your videos, especially those about Rave Racer. I even thought of making something like this, but I have problems emulating System22 with my pc, it goes too slow and I can't manage to configure the analog controls.
I have all PSX's RRs, the PS2 one and the two PSP ones. I enjoy looking for the subtle diferences between versions, the evolution of the tracks, the infinite references to other Namco games
ridge racer 3D is awesome. have you tried it?

Very true. RR 1-5 were all great games. 6 killed the franchise, and 7 is decent, but I don't think the series will ever be that good again.
Long live R4!!!
