  • thumbs up if you scraped your teeth once in a while during this vid

  • Don't you think he would give a more convincing presentation if those ugly nails of his weren't bitten down to the cuticle?

A lot of bacteria hide out under those nails, Doc. Just sayin'.

  • where can i get one of demonstrative purpose teeth?

  • Anybody with gum disease should have their dentist look into PerioProtect. It rocks. I used it. It clobbered the problem permanently. Went from 4-6 on the laser reading to 1-2.

  • Folks don't think gum disease is a trivial matter. There is a link between gum disease and heart disease. Some believe that the bacteria that inflame your gums also badly affect your arteries and heart. You always need to deal with gum disease because the problem can spread to your cardio-vascular system.

  • CURE Gum disease. . . i would love a cure. .

  • Hey Doc, stop chewing those nails!

  • OralMax Gum Disease Treatment can help you with bleeding gums, inflammation, sensitivity and dental mobility. Can help stop bone loss and reduce the dental mobility from grade 2 to grade 0 (Miller's Classification).

All this thanks to the tannin acids (astringent) naturally obtained from different

quercus species evaluated and recognized as an effective substance against bleeding gums, inflammation and dental mobility in diabetic and non-diabetic patients.

  • In most developed countries it seems death is alot more inexpensive as opposed to regular visits to the dentist.

  • Flossing Helps too! Give a gift that promotes health :)

  • @jamil000007 My doctor recommended a product called Herbal Dentist and it worked wonders for me! I bought it at his office, but it can also be found through an ebay search, keyword "herbal dentist." Hope this helps!

  • instead of scraping the plaque off,

is ther a rotating device that...shave.. it off?

  • ya its ultrasonic scaler.

  • I'll tell ya what works for me..and it's Awesome..brush your teeth for 2 mins. than add hydrogen proxide while brushing..not only does it kills germs better than any mouth wash, but it also helps whiten your teeth as well. Enjoy.

  • well said. hydrogen peroxide also helps bleeding gums :)

  • Ok, why is this guy scaling toward the gum-line? I'm in Dental Hygiene school and we've been taught to scale AWAY from the gum-line, otherwise all you're doing is pushing the plaque and/or calculus toward the sulcus.

  • after getting s+p treatment, i did a lot of research and started using natural toothpaste and herbal mouthwash, soft interdental brushes and an oral irrigator. i also rinse my mouth out with green tea and sea salt solution. i try to floss twice a day and after going back for a checkup the periodontist was very pleased with the results. try to stay away from those chemical-laden products. tea tree oil toothpaste is also good!

  • One thing you can also try is investing in a Sonicare power toothbrush. As I stated in my previous comment, I'm a first year Dental Hygiene student. I went to a meeting with my class on the power toothbrush and even though it is expensive, it is worth it. It can even make your teeth 2 shades whiter after just a few weeks of use.

The cost is nearly $200, but if you were to save up trust me it's worth it! Because I'm a student I get mine for free so I can try it and tell people about it.

  • thanks for the tip. any other advice you have please post it! i so want to keep my teeth

  • Well, if you were to get a Sonicare power toothbrush, you'll still need to floss at least once a day because no matter how good your toothbrush is you still need to floss.

Another thing I learned is that you should reduce the frequency (not the quantity, just the frequency) of snacks you have throughout the day. As my instructor has told my class, it's better to pig out on a whole bag of M&M's at once, rather than small amounts throughout the day. I'd explain why, but I'm running out of room.

  • thanks endlessdark16 for taking the time! good luck with your studies!

  • No problem =)

  • Where can i get one?

  • You can get them from a bunch of different places. Target, Amazon, walmart, etc. If you want I can send you the link in a message of the exact one I received =)

  • I would appreciate that very!! Thanx!

  • Can you explain to me what health benefit does salt have on the gums?

  • you can get a sonic toothbrush from amazon. from what i've read salt water bursts bacteria cells because they absorb it through osmosis. also, when people get teeth pulled most dentists (including mine) say to rinse with salt water because it promotes healing. most people with gum disease cut their gums easily with dental floss etc and it helps in that way. don't ask me how it promotes healing other than killing bacteria!

  • O ok. Would you say that warm salt water is better than using those mouth rinses like scope, listerine, etc.?

  • i so wouldn't use those mouthwashes. if you google mouthwash + oral cancer or mouthwash + pesticide it might scare you off! anyway, if they worked, would so many people have gum disease?? it claims to fight gingivitis, the precursor to gum disease. if you google green tea and gum disease, it might shock you how beneficial it is claimed to be. also scope and listerine are pretty expensive! i'm concerned that gt will stain my teeth though but i'd rather have stained teeth than none at all!

  • Thank you!!! You're a blessing!

  • Thanks!

  • i have gum disease, and was simply to told to brush three/ four times a day and use mouthwash that i had prescribed to me from the dentist. it seems to be clearing up already. but what i dont understand is that i have only one filling, and a baby tooth that ive had for 23 years does not need any work, this surely shows that i brush my teeth well? this is why i simply dont understand how i have gum disease! i dont want to loose my teeth!

  • could be periodontis? Are your gums swollen any puss or even spacing in your teeth?

  • It happens. Something in your system. I'm having a problem now, too. It's important to floss and to stay on top of it. I'm at the point of going to a periodontist and will lose a couple teeth. It's really upsetting. So, try to keep on top of it.

  • god this guy is boring

  • why the hell did i just watch that

  • augh! boring and painful!

  • Gum disease can not be cured by antibiotics, and I wish my dentist at the time had realized that. My husband suffered gum infections for 5 years on and off. His last gum infection lasted 7 months, antibiotics would clear it then within days it would flare up again, all the dentist did was give meds. To make a long story short at the age of 42 he had to have all his teeth removed, and this is a man who did go to the dentist regularly, every 6 months.

  • Yeah, I'm going through this right now. I did get an antibiotic to treat the infection that I now have, but my dentist told me that unless I went to a periodontist for further treatment, the infections would just keep coming back. Well, I did go, and it looks like I'm going to lose a couple of teeth and have bone loss already. I guess it could be worse--like losing all of my teeth like your husband did. His dentist should have recommended a periodontist!!

  • Hmm.

Biting your nails is a very bad habbit!

  • i dont know why im watching this

  • hahaha, me either :L

  • As a dentist I can confirm antibiotics will NOT 'cure' gum disease. It would be great if they did! They can help relieve acute flare-ups but the chronic disease remains. It is an immune response to plaque essentially; some people get it (smokers, diabetics espec), some don't but if there's no plaque (ie brushing is imaculate) there will be very little inflammation that can develop into gum disease over time. Even if root planing/deep cleaning is done it is useless if brushing skills remain poor.

  • @realneal000 r u a dentist if u r can u help with my gums??

my gums are red and pink and i am loosing gums can u really help me it will really help me?

    thanx

  • @realneal000 diet &&&& brushing.

  • My dentist showed me research that shows that 95% of gum disease is caused by parisites on the teeth. It can be cured by using antibiotics. Once the parisites have been removed the gums will recover.

I was told by one dentist I would have to have gum surgery to remove the gum disease. My current dentist resolved it with antibiotics.

  • thats bull shit! try to get better info... gum disease cant be resolved with antibiotics!

  • You are funny. I had gum disease three years ago. I took antiabiotics and it was resolved. So believe what you want to believe.

  • ow! that hurts

  • In the early stages of gum disease it is relatively easy to reverse the process. I good indicator that you might be in trouble is if you brush, floss and use use mouth wash at least two times a day for two weeks and you don't see any improvement. Remember, your oral regime should be for 3 minutes. If the bleeding slows or disappears, your teeth no longer sensitive, or reddness goes away, then you cuaght it and it's going away. It can take years of neglect to get periodentitis.

  • I Though i had Gum disease, But my teeth dont have all that brown stuff on it & they dont bleed, but i have sore gums! Im 14, Do you think its my wisdom teeth?? Please please get back to me!

  • It is your wisdom teeth IF: the gums are sore directly on the spot where they are located and it's just generally hurtfull on the spot. You can feel the tooth with your finger. If it has alot of definition then they need to come out.

  • Thank you for the real quick reply! Erm the thing is, On the side there coming through its a squear shap, whitch is a hint, But my teeth are sensative on some days! And the teeth around it feel sore and tight! Im so scared!

  • It could be cavities or the nerves in your teeth are just being affected by your wisdom teeth. Somtimes if the wisdom teeth don't come out in time, they start to rot., etc.. But the quickest way to aleave your fears is to go to your dentist. But if your gums are red, swollen, pus like or look like they are loose around the tooth then you have early gum disease. Try to gently move the teeth and see if they are loose. Just a minor shake. And if they are solid, then you don't have periodontitous.

  • He is right, I had this done..not bad at all, had the root canal too...not horrible.

I just wish I had flossed my teeth more in the past, but now have to have the root canals, and deep cleanings! Anyway, it's all good.

Thank God for Novocaine, and anesthesia! And Dental Insurance!

  • IF you don't treat gum disease though, you will lose bone and ultimately your teeth. It does NOT HAVE to be painful! (Dentists should always give you the choice to be numb or not) Gum and Periodontal disease does take years to develop. So, If you begin to notice redness or bleeding treat it right away, so it does not get to this extreme. Gum disease has been directly linked to heart disease and diabetes.

~Don't neglect your teeth/Gums because of fear, It COULD ultimately cost you your Life!~

  • That´s why it hurts so much...!

  • hes gunna kill me 0.0

they stuck up my spacer tooooooo high

and ya my gum is LITTERALLY on top of my space, and its stuck

  • what a bunch of chickens. just go to the dentist let him clean your nasty teeth before you need a root canal. you all complaint like is the freaking dentist fault that you have nasty crap on your teeth.

  • Yeah, they're suppose to go a bit hard. If they babied your mouth then you would never know if you had early gum disease.

  • they tend to dig too much too hard fuck up your teeth to get more money they have bills to pay

  • you can not cure periodontal disease you can only maintain yourgingival health

  • I think you can cure it but not this way. typically patients will need this same treatment again later. There is more to caring for your teeth than brushing, flossing and using mouthwash.

After a couple 100 years, don't you think there are ways to fix this problem, maybe we are just not being told all of the information that is available.
