im building a kramer replica with ash tree does it worth to build it with ash or better mahagony with maple top i prefer ash what are the differences i mean is it a problem to build it with ash or better mahagony
@padawan007 If you're building a Kramer replica and aren't sure what wood to use, I'd probably go with the wood that Kramer uses on whichever model you are replicating. In my experience with the mahogany/maple combo as opposed to ash, ash tends to sound brighter whereas mahogany/maple sounds warmer and darker. I've only ever had ash on a single coil Strats and Teles and mahogany on Les Pauls with humbuckers though. I tend to favor swamp ash wood. It's prettier too.
@SamWycombe In America, it's pronounced "SAH-dur," and in England, "SOLE-dur." The English tend to pronounce things very phonetically. Another common difference is the world "filet." In America, we'd say "fill-AY," whereas in Britain, "FILL it."
Hi i have a fender body and an allparts neck and i want to fit them together but there is a small gap between the neck and part of the neck pocket, it is about 4 or 5 pieces of paper thick. and i was wondering how i could fill this gap i'm just scared that this will kill the resonance of the whole guitar. thanks
If you wanna build a strat, buy the Dan Earliwine "how to build an electric guitar" video from Stew Mac. It comes with full size plans for a'62 strat. Easy as pie.
well I am about to build a Strat and I bought a Fender body and neck not Warmoth and everything else to go with the body (football type jack, strap buttons, pre wired pickgaurd, replacement bridge and neck pickup, push pull coil tap,Wilkinson bridge, neck plate, trem cover plate,Gotoh mechanical locking tuners, nut, string trees, pick guard and trem plate screws. It all came to about just over 500 Canadian and that didn't include sandpaper , fillers ,other tools and colour. AN additional 100 for that.

Awesome, I didn't take any photos of my warmoth when i built it, maybe when i do my firebird i'll have to do a video of the process. sweet guitar man! makes me think about doing a strat
also, if you dont have a tuning fork, you can just use any peice of metal, even a ball point pen, and just tap the pole peices on the pickup, that will make a noise through an amp :)
using a screwdriver is handy, as you most probably have one on hand from adjusting the pickup height etc :)
its not a specific model, its a bunch of parts bought off of warmoth(.)com. im looking forward to doing this sometime when i can get the friggin money
very good, but with soldering to the claw: rough the spot up where you want to solder with some fine grit sandpaper and the ground wire should solder very easily to it. I cant tell where you have soldered the ground to the screw but you may have some problems later on when setting up the bridge.
these videos are great, i crack up every time you say Tre-Molo
But youtube would be worse of without guys like you. I am going to be doing a project and posting up in bits how it goes with a demo at the end :) I will send you link when its done.
do you think wilkinson tremolos ar better than fenders, schallers or floyds????(i know that floyds stay better in tune, but with machine heads like the sperzels the problem could be resolved...)
the problem wouldn't be entirely resolved due to the friction of the nut. floyds stay in tune because they eliminatefriction between the nut (or the tuners) and the bridge.
You just have to lubricate the guitar nut and a fender tremolo will stay in tune ver yvery very well you can shave a pencil tip with a file and put the sahvings in the nut and the tremolo will stay in tune very well
the problem with floyds is they suck all of the tone out of your guitar

you can try Quick Wood...it's like a putty that you mix with a little water and when i sets up it becomes almost exactly like wood so it's sandable

That's great to have a 3-pickup Warmoth in addition to your bridge humbucker screamer. I'd love to sink a few hundred in some Warmoth parts.
