Ok, Heart is a good actress indeed. And i personally believe that she deserved the award. What i do not like in this movie are the misconceptions, stereotypes, wrong impressions about the igorots. For those people who believe that this movie is telling the truth about igorots, please feel free to come and visit the highland with an open and objective mind. Only through this that you would understand how we feel as an igorot upon seeing this movie. This really is an insult to us.

The problem with yoe blind fanatics is that you can't accept the criticism on the MOVIE. Many Igorots here stated the movie is highly inaccurate and rely on stereotypes and misconception, and you interpret it as personal attack towards Ms. Ongpauco.
When I say that's she's not concivncing as an igorot, I did not mean physical attributes. Do you trhink of Igorots as dark skinned, kinky-hair people? Did you know that the IP rights of the UN is based on the doctrine of an Igorot man who fought for his land.
Most evident is the language: It's so funny that she plays an Igorot yet speaks Tagalog with Tagalog-Manila accent.That is so unrealistic. Igorots sepak to each other in Ilocano if they do not share a common tongue. And the 'garb'? It's does not evne belong to any Igorot ethnic that Ir ecognize. It's nothing but invented. It's unrecognizable.
Third, even in the seventies Igorots have adapted to modernities yet preserving their culture. The film depics as if Igorots are reluctant to change which is not. In Hollywood, when they make a movie that is set in the US south, they try to have the US south accent. Here in Ay Ayeng, they made an Igorot a Manilena in colorful garb. Not to really make the character Igorot as it can be.
It's funny that a foreign dir. was able to depict what an Igorot is like(The movie Abong, the dir. is Japanese)
The movie sned out the wrong message about the Igorots. The movie, obviously, didn't have any hint of research(duh, ang daming accurate sites about the Igorots and there's Kidlat Tahimik who knows mucha bout the Igorots) and relied on wrong textbooks and media stereotype of what an Igorot should be.

The story doesn't suit for the Ifugao Culture and its not that realistic in nature. I'm a Pure Ifugao Native and this film will be criticize by many of the Ifugao's and also the cordillerans. Especially the attires they used and also the setting... its like it was taken in the part of Benguet. The acting is nice but the whole package is so unrealistic at all.
