  • very interesting. It makes me think about Herbie Hancock chords used in a 90s album. The song was "chemical " something. Great. I will try to practice this progression.

  • very interesting. It makes me think about Herbie Hancock chords.

  • Thank you, you sound like dane cook..... great job!

  • About the chord you played on the "gels" of "angels" , you called it a minor 11. Now, is that the same as just D major over E? I've been trying to figure out what to call that chord for a while...So pretty! Thanks.

  • Thanks! BTW – you can learn to play the piano in half the time with new gadget that reads MIDI files.

    Google “Gizmag and PianoMaestro”

  • Can you please take the word "Phat" out of the video title. sooo lame! Good video though.

  • I like listening to your chords. where is your book 3 sold?

  • @5oelspeth on our website

  • This is some good stuff!

  • can u just hurry and play the song, then go through the chords

  • @hezy131 That's what they are called. Phat Chords. It wasn't meant as a guetto term.

  • where is volume number 3?

  • So this method involves choosing chords that contain, in some way, that melody note? whether that melody note is there as the root or, the 3, or a sharp 4, or anything? Is there any more to it than that?

  • nothing new there its called VOICE LEADING. 99.9% Good pianist or guitarista etc that play solo or those that are strictly responsible for the harmony AND lead/melody while playing have no other choice to play voice lead, other wise the song will sound flat....no "tonal volume" (full harmony). This brotha just finds interesting chords (common gospel voicing straight out of the "modern black chuch"...i repeat CHUCH (no mistake in the spelling)..lol He's great!!His method clashes with basic theory

  • you sound great,,,,,

  • I went to your website and was overwhelmed. Which volume would I buy as the handbook to find the numbered voicings you refer to in your YouTube videos? Thanks.

  • I like what you are doing, although I'd like to make a suggestion. I cannot really get an established sense of the overall fluency of the song because of the step by step nature of this video. I think it'd be great if you were to stop every once and a while and play the collective phrase. Thanks.

  • i agree with youngdreamer...u need more melody to..but it waz great

  • gotta try and keep the melody in there more but its nice!

  • those chords ARE pretty.

  • oooh nice i like those chords very nice !

  • This was very helpful.

  • this is beautiful, i will use these chords as i learn and progress with my piano playing

  • Overall... I like what ma man be talking about. I love all your techniques.. I think you are a 'GENIUS' to some how even come up with such a technique. but all u guys out there should invest in a 'real' theory class also... I said my words, and do not back down from no b___- ya dig.. but the course is splended.. but do not forget theory... av

  • lol, brah, it's not bs...u really should work on that if ur the supposed actor/model/pianist that u are...its' not very professional looking lol. and i'm not the pussy...and i ain't start nothin...i was jus statin the facts...don't let the truth that i see hurt ur lil ego

  • Appreciate the INFO...it is in fact sensational.

  • I wish you could actually play something, anything, using this technique. I'm almost convinced. all chords are 'very pretty', when played alone. Let me see you apply this stuff.

  • He is doing that in this video.

  • i see what your are saying. the number system is suppose to show you how to play chords in any key. by knowing where the note is in the scale you can play the chords for it. example if your in the key of C the 5th note is a G. so if someone tells you to play a 2-5-1 progression you know to play the 2nd, 5th,and 1st note chords in that key.the promblem is he doesn't show you how to form chords for each note of a scale he just tells you you can play this chord for his book that goes with the note.

  • This can be helpful but there is so many chords for each note that it will probably sound werid if you play and chord that goes with which ever note your are playing at the time. it will probably make it hard for people to sing along if you are playing a dim. chord out of nowhere.

  • I meant to say play a chord in the 2nd comment first sentence and i spelt weird wrong.
