That's really weird. Sounds like the flash memory has gone bad. I've had no problems out of it till recently. It was shutting off on it's own. Seems to have stopped though. Then again, I've had this phone since I was in highschool. (back in '06 or '07 I think?), so that's to be expected.
Well, I've replaced it once, but this phone was just so much better that I couldn't stand using the new phone (it wasn't anything special.) I plan to get the new model of this phone as my free upgrade later this week. I still like the style of the older model better though.

For those complaining about the battery life, try this: if you go to Settings>Connections>Packet Data and change "Always Online" to "When Needed" it should make a significant difference on your batter consumption.

The one thing i did when i had this phone was actually remove the PTT button.
I knew i would never need it, and it would always ask me if i wanted to open ptt whenever i opened the phone. I just pried out the little silver button with my knife. I stuffed the little peice of rubber that was in there back in the hole and nobody ever knew the difference.
And yes, the battery life was terrible.
I did love the keypad though. I never had any complaints with it.

you can mute the camera. start up your camera, click "options," go to settings (should be at the bottom), then sroll down to "camera sounds" and select "off"

yeah, if you have a memory card and adapter you just plug it into your SD card drive and sync your files to your computer. If you have nowhere to stick the SD card on your pc, then buy the USB cable and plug it inand sync to pc.
i did go with the memory card option, but im having trouble. i cant upload the videos on my phone onto windows movie maker because they "are not a supported file type" (the're "3gpp" btw. idk i've never heard of that)

Crappy phone. Get any phone but this phone. Since the day I got it, it has been randomly shutting off, draining the battery. I also text a lot with the phone. I have turned my phone on at 8 AM and the battery is dead by 9 PM. Sometimes, it shuts off 10 times a day, and it has turned itself off so much, whenever I turn it back on, it freezes. this phone is horrible!! i was on the phone for about an hour with my friend, and it died. it had full battery before. samsung a737 is better phone, and a better price.
If you never use the internet browser, call customer service and have them deactivate the internet, it saves battery. plus, if you charge your phone every night battery is not a problem. i text and talk all day and my battery lasts just fine.

yeah i just got the phone and its amazingg,and all you do to view your sent messages is go to the messaging link in the menu and go on the very last option which is msg settings and then go on general settings and the then just set it to save your sent messages.

Agreed! I thought it was just my phone, but I have a friend who's replaced his twice with the same model, and continues to experience the random-shut-down problem. If it was just a bad batch, it was a pretty huge batch.
i would definately recommend the d900i, its a great phone! I bought mine off of eBay and payed about $110.00 so yea, its features are awesome and I love the camera!!!! But its ur choice!
i just got this phone its great but the only annoying thing is setting the volume for calling and ringtones. i can not set my phone to vibrate when i recieve a text message, also u have to go through a whole process just to put ur phone on vibrate.
I'm frustrated coming from an old V557. The backlight goes off in 10 secs w/ no way to change it. Accessing photos is a chore, and worse, no instant access when using the camera itself. Nokias software update page is hard to read/find models. Side scrolling through tens of hundreds of models is archaic
In case you haven't already figured it out, if you press and hold the # button on your phone, it toggles the mute/vibrate only and normal modes for the ringtones. so if you need to go silent for a movie or meeting, just press and hold the # button for a moment. No process. one key.
I had the phone a grand total of two weeks and the outer/mini LCD screen broke, as have others I know who bought the same phone. Also, the operating software is extremely glitchy, and if you plan to use it to listen to music, plan on being extremely frustrated by the phone resetting itself.
This is a cool looking Nokia. If I wanted to upgrade before my contract comes up, I wonder how much I'd have to save. Though I like my Nokia 6102i a lot, it is the best cell phone ever. I will always buy Nokia cell phones from now on.

honestly, the only real upgrade is the text messaging, deleting messages quicker, and battery life.

It's the Achilles heel of an otherwise better-than-average phone.
Fire up a game and you'll be dead in less than about 15 minutes.
The battery life is the worst I have ever seen.
Not for power-users but fine for light users.

It's refurbed so it might just be defected, but it won't show my sent/outbox messages. Anyone know how to fix that? Of if it's just you know...bugged. I would appreciate some in put. =]

yeah i just got the phone and its amazingg,and all you do to view your sent messages is go to the messaging link in the menu and go on the very last option which is msg settings and then go on general settings and the then just set it to save your sent messages.

I am thinking about getting this phone or the LG CE110
But I am really worried about the random shut offs and the battery life.
If anyone has any feedback on which of the two might be better for someone who spends a nice amount of time texting let me know?

Agreed! I thought it was just my phone, but I have a friend who's replaced his twice with the same model, and continues to experience the random-shut-down problem. If it was just a bad batch, it was a pretty huge batch.

i would definately recommend the d900i, its a great phone! I bought mine off of eBay and payed about $110.00 so yea, its features are awesome and I love the camera!!!! But its ur choice!

The battery life is terrible. I get about 3 days max standby time, even if I limit talk time
to about 20 minutes.
Beyond the terrible battery though, the phone is very nice.

i just got this phone its great but the only annoying thing is setting the volume for calling and ringtones. i can not set my phone to vibrate when i recieve a text message, also u have to go through a whole process just to put ur phone on vibrate.
but otherwise its awesome

I'm frustrated coming from an old V557. The backlight goes off in 10 secs w/ no way to change it. Accessing photos is a chore, and worse, no instant access when using the camera itself. Nokias software update page is hard to read/find models. Side scrolling through tens of hundreds of models is archaic

In case you haven't already figured it out, if you press and hold the # button on your phone, it toggles the mute/vibrate only and normal modes for the ringtones. so if you need to go silent for a movie or meeting, just press and hold the # button for a moment. No process. one key.

DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE
I had the phone a grand total of two weeks and the outer/mini LCD screen broke, as have others I know who bought the same phone. Also, the operating software is extremely glitchy, and if you plan to use it to listen to music, plan on being extremely frustrated by the phone resetting itself.

Sound quality is good. Speaker not that great. Sounds good at lower levels. Headphone jack/adapter greatly improves all the speaker issues.

This is a cool looking Nokia. If I wanted to upgrade before my contract comes up, I wonder how much I'd have to save. Though I like my Nokia 6102i a lot, it is the best cell phone ever. I will always buy Nokia cell phones from now on.
