A friend of mine just finished a iPhone App that helps the user learn math He's giving it away for free for 2 days on iTunes (ABTC Basic Calculator), and you can also watch a demo of it on youtube by searching ABTC Basic Calculator.
Why do you say that the smallest number is divided by the largest? Isn't that the opposite? I learned this in french and by translating word to word it doesn't make sense to me to say this that way because it would yield a different result...
oh wait. i only watched up to like 2:03 and when i went on i noticed i do it a little differently. instead like doing 2 (on the top) times 5 (which is with the # 25) ='s what ever, i just do 2 time 25.
i like to divide the way you r doin'. i did it at school today during math. exeptwe r doin' it with friendly numbers. ever heard of that? Friendly numbers?
@Pam4Rob It is possible to be dislexic in math and numbers but even some people have dislexia and turn out to be doctors, engineers, and people with really good jobs.So always try your hardest!:)
Okay, (: so this is, like, very helpful (no, scratch that) EXTREMELY helpful. ~_^
Most other videos are, like, well, they think you already know the steps or something. -_- But not this one! :D You're awesome! xD I think I've finally got the hang of this. ♥
lolz i graduated highschool and im going to college and i'm so used to using calculators i don't remember how to do this stuff out on a piece of paper
lets say you have an array where the array represents one number (ie the number 356 is split up into 3 parts a 3,5,and 6) and you want to devide a number by that array how would one go about doing so o yes and you cant recombine the numbers
OH THANK YOU SO MUCH...im actually a ninth grader learning algebra and stuff but i had TOTALLLY forgotten how to do this type of division which i will need tomorrow.....THHHAAANKSSSS
you make it easy because if your trying to divide something , if the number ends with an even number it has no remainder, try to make it harder by not having an odd number next time so people, can get used to doing long divisions with remainders. -sincerely anonymous
I am pretty good with head calculation (But not with English, I am not even from an English speaking country so "silence! Ikillyu!")
So how I was thinking this how many times goes 25 in 6000 that is 4*25 = 100 * 10 = 40 So 25*40 = 1 000 then I was thinking times 40*6 = 240 (4*6=24*10) Then I got 240, what is 250/25? That is 10... And I do this in the head in a few seconds. i always find a number I know right of the bat works with the dividing number. Then I count from there.
Thank you for all that you do! I have a 1st grade boy and a 4th grade boy. They both love your videos! I can see a difference in my 4th grader, he's really developing a love for math thanks to your method of teaching. Keep it up!
hi to the author of the video: i would like to clarify this. what if after we subtract the numbers then it is enough to divide with the divisor do we need still to bring down the next number?
Please note: as you multiplied 8 X 67 - you said * X 7 is is 56 (correct. You wrote the 6 and carried the 5. Then you said 8 X 6 = 48 plus 2 !!! = 53. Not correct. I think you meant 8 X 6 = 48 + 5 = 53. Right?
You make me feel smart unlike other people whom try to make you feel like you're an idiot because you forgot how to do this thank you and keep up the good work.
for those kids who are watchinig, everytime your teacher says you will need to know these because you are going to use them everyday, Thats a lie. I have a college degree and I dont know how to do these kinds of division. Im hoping I learn today, But I would recomend to still pay attention . It makes life easier
thanks i finally realized how to to that i never fully understood!!! and just in time for my devision test too!!! thanks SSSSOOOO much this video really helped me thats y i give it a 5!!!!!!!!

I would just like to thank you for putting videos like this out for people. I am going to be starting college in the fall, and I haven't been to school in 10 years. LOL and I was never really great at math anyway, this is really helping me out, BTW I was wondering, is it possible to be dyslexic with numbers or math? If so I think I have that. lol
It's called being Dyscalculic. Look up the symptoms for Dyscalculia on Google, you'll definitely find it. ^_^ Good luck, hopefully you don't have it. (I have it mildly myself)
I probably do, cause Numbers just get all jumbled in my head and I can't think about the process I have to do to figure out the problem. I will have to look that up. Thanks, and thanks for the good luck I will surely need it..lol

Can someone give me the URLs for level 1, 2 and 3 division? Couldn't find these videos :(.
sonavva 2 years ago
@sonavva
Level 1 was basic addition
level 2 addition
level 3 subtraction
level 4 division.
So, there's no level 1,2,3 for division. you can go to khanacademy. org to see them in order. remove the space between the dot and the org.

You make a small mistake at 7:43 .
You say "8x7 that's 56"
Then you say "8x6 is 48 plus 2 is 53"
But it's supposed to be plus 5.
You added 5, but for some reason said 2. Might have confused some people following along with you.
