  • Sweeeeeeeetttttttt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Beautiful Olds!

  • Hi Branman, I just checked your videos of you dads Olds 57 ninety eight. It's a lovely car i got one by my self here in Sweden with only 55 000 miles on trip meter. Great car with great perfomance and options that the car bayers thinks is new today. Such as Power steering Power brakes 6 pos electrical adjustment on front seat electrical antenna automatic hedalight shifts air ride air condition, my car dont have the air condition and everything is still working after 53 years without any reparing

  • @swedefirebird70 Thanks. He ended up trading it. He has a 1988 chevrolet silverado with a drag racing setup. If he had to drive it everyday he would, he couldnt do that with the olds. Thats nice. He said his dad's olds was the same color as yours and had the same interior. Its a nice car though. Olds was a good car brand, they were very reliable.

  • I have to commend you on starting this car...most people lay on the key and end up running the battery dead or burning up the starter. Nice original Olds. Olds has always been a favorite of mine since I was a kid. But I don't know how people decided on any one car in those days cause they all were classy and filled with character. I am referring to Ford and Chrysler as well. I guess a lot of people were just loyal to a certain make.

  • @365degrees Yes, thanks, and they did have class. My dad knew what he was doing. Theres a new video up of it also, if youd like to watch it.

  • Pure fancy.

Several works of superior art come together on this buggy, most notably of which are the front bumper and the "welcome-to-the-future" dashboard.

    Hubba hubba.

  • @neatoauctions Yea, these cars had character and had good design for the year it was made.

  • What a find your dad had in 2007!! The '57 Olds has always been dear to my heart since the one my dad bought new when I was a kid. To this day, I dream of at least driving one if not owning one, even though I'd probably have to stock up on octane booster. I remember that our Golden Rocket 88 ran on premium gas..... leaded premium, that is. I'm not surprised that this one started pretty easily after sitting for awhile. Ours always did. Thanks for posting this vid!!

  • @rocketrobby yes, he got lucky, its for sale or trade now. his dad used to have one also. he loves that old car. im glad there are people like you that still appreciate cars like this, not only for the memories, but because these cars had class and a personality of their own, thanks.

  • @rocketrobby Hey, i have a new updated video of the olds up if youd like to go and watch it.

  • @rocketrobby check out the new vid.

  • @branman2012 I did check out your new vid. If I were you, I'd be having a hard time parting with this one! If I had money right now, I'd be on your doorstep. If you don't get your full asking price, I'm going to be really shocked! And, sure enough, when your Olds hasn't been sitting a long time, you're barely turning the key and it's starting. I hope the new owner really appreciates what a great car this is!

  • @rocketrobby Yes, he ended up trading it for a 1988 chevrolet silverado with a drag racing setup. The chevy is atleast driveable everyday. Its dependable, he traded it to a guy right down the road, so its not far.

  • I have this exact same car. Same year, body style, color, and interior!

  • @kgbenz lol, nice.

  • I thought I heard it sucking air with no breather.

  • @auaiao9 we had it off because we were redoing it, it was all rusty. my dads had work done to it since then.

  • @auaiao9 go check out the new vid of the olds, theres a breather.

  • @fama1815 i will watch your video, but his is my dad's car. Hes getting it fixed right nw, getting some parts put on it. I took a spanish class, but i had to go to google translator to translte some things you wrote. you can share them emblem, if you want.

  • You need to keep on the starter for awhile....duh! And pull those lifters and clean them! Kids these days, I swear! Excellent original, except for the rust. GM axed Olds and Pontiac because they were simply rebadged Chevies, and customers long ago figured that out. Last real Oldses and Pontiacs were built in the '70s. Since then, it's all GM badge engineered crap, so who cares? The '57 was an OK Olds, but the '55s were way better.

  • @DeserTBoB93535 what do you mean kids? thats my dad. and i think he knows alot more than u about cars. He obviously didnt want to flood it either, so yea.

  • @DeserTBoB93535 desert bob u fucking dickweed ur an ass who thinks you know everything but u dont.....ass.....

  • Wow - amazing car - never seen one up close - thanks for sharing!! My dad bought a new Olds 98 every year... the 57 was his first year he "holiday sedan" (hardtop) and his first car with AC... His was white with red interior... I miss pops and seeing this vid (on memorial day) at least brings a bit of joy to me thinking of him... He would have enjoyed seeing this I'm sure!!

  • I bet so. This is my dads car also, so we have somethin in common. Happy memorial day and sorry to hear that.

  • @branman2012 thanks!! I've collected all the Olds brochures from 1956 to 1974 (years he owned Oldsmobiles)... After 74 he went to Mercury Marquis' and drove them til he died in 2006.... My mom still drives a Marquis but I drive a Town Car... I wish GM still made Olds and especially the 98's and 88's...

  • Olds are good dependable cars. My dad has the same perspective on them.

  • @branman2012 my dad always thought so too.. I was sorta sad when GM discontinued the Olds and later the Pontiac... Now ford is discontinuing the Mercury... guess the car companies want us to ride around in Smart cars... #LOL

  • @biglinc1

  • @branman2012 ??

  • @biglinc1 yea, he doesnt really like the smart cars, and i deffinetly dont like them.

  • Very nice car. Owned one very much like it at one time . Same great gold with a gold interior. I must tell you, though, that your vehicle is not a J2. You have a single 4 barrel carb. which means you have the basic 277 hp engine,. J2 versions had three two barrel carbs from the factory. at 300 hp. That doesn't take away the fact that you still have a very nice car.

  • Thanks for the info. He doesnt have a book on this car though.

  • Had one back in the early 70's..... I remember it was a 371 cu. in. 4 Barrel rated at 277 hp in standard form. And always hard to start! Gotta love it!

  • Yea. This one had 20,818 original miles when my dad got it. It has an exhaust leak, but he has the parts to fix it now.

  • Sounds like low/no compression on one or two cylinders..Do a compression check.

  • ok. he read the comments. this car does have an exhaust leak though.

  • Factory ratings were 300hp 400lb/ft torque.

  • oh. on the book for this car. for the j2 rocket it said 320 and 450
