I never got to finish them I stopped at episode 36. And sailor Venus was my FAVORITE. And XD I love how Queen Beryl goes "That's so sweet, I'm getting cavities." but that was sweet I was crying. Especially when my favorite scout died. :(
Well that it GREAT. :) I was actually, if u can believe it, Sailor moon for Halloween when I was abt 7 or 8 years old :). I recently had a garage sale with my parents, back in May, with the help of my boyfriend. I feel so sad, bad, & occasionally depressed that I got rid of all my videos, dvd's, and a cute little BACKPACK that I loved so much! I felt so such relief when I realized I kept at least 3 movies:)

The Sailor Soldiers (not Scouts) weren't taken hostage, they were killed, and so was Darien/Tuxedo Mask/Prince Endynion. Sailor Moon, after transforming into Princess Serenity and killing Queen Beryl and Metalia (the "Negaforce") died too, but with her final wish the Silver Crystal revived all six of them, but wiped their memories.

@yourfuturequeen I agree but I think the bad editing is the real problem. In the japanese version the 1 on 1 between Beryl and Usagi lasted more then twice as long and showed Usagi losing, adding tension (it was also the coolest and best looking part of fight), Beryl also talked more crap and Luna was not blabbing happy thoughts to us. This song that plays in the US version also kills the mood, its just too cheery. The japanese version had the opening theme and just made it feel more epic.
There's no comparison between this version and the original Japanese version. It's THAT bad. There's way more emotion, danger and everything else in the original. But this is what I grew up with. When I first saw this as a kid I always thought it was epic, so there's sentimental value attached.

I rather read subtitles than listen to this crap, horrible voices, no emotion, some dialogues are completely changed. WHAT A PIECE OF GARBAGE!
@yourfuturequeen, well, don't blame the dub, blame the dumb American broadcasting regulations (and the FCC), as they wouldn't allow the death scenes to pass, especially in 1995 (which was when the dub began).
I, myself, prefer the dub all the way, but I agree that the finale of the first season shouldn't have been heavily edited. I mean, come on! If Cloverway could keep references of death in Sailor Moon S, how come the original season 1 finale couldn't?

@TheShockMaster I remember watching this episode when I was about four and actually wondering if they died or not, since you see their ghosts later on. The memory loss is pretty anti-climactic :/
The whole last two episodes of the English dub are pretty anti-climactic. And I'm not hating on dubs, I normally prefer dubs and I am a voice actor myself--I am hating on the writing/editing decisions that were made with the last two episodes, though. They had to cut so much from the last two episodes that they ended up just merging the two together. If you want to watch a HUGE tear-jerker, watch the original Japanese version of this episode with English subtitles.
@TheShockMaster I watched the entire japanese series a few years ago, and I agree 100% I love how the senshi/scouts died and were brought back to life through the crystal. In the manga, Sailor Moon also brought some civilians lives back through the crystal before the final fight. I also hate how pretty much the whole fight between Sailor Moon and Momoru/Darien was cut out. Yes it was pretty violent, but it was much more emotional. you're a voice actor? That's so cool :)
Be that as it may, I don't like it when dubs are so completely redone that they're targeted at a different age group. My motto has always been, "If you want to make a show for kiddies, make your own--don't take someone else's show and modify it."
@TheShockMaster (just for reassurance im not trying to argue with you) i do agree to an extent, this was also done when anime was first coming to america so it wasnt widely popular and targeting kids was easier than asking adults to watch this, in comparison to now. (most adults watched these things as kids so its ok)

@RevolverLochness yes i do and i have ever since i was a little kid when i started watching sailor moon. i think this show is so well acted out and its like you can feel the emotions, the action, the storyline as if it were your own life. i think the battle scene is intense and the music is perfect for it

This is the first time I've watched DiC Sailor Moon... they really aired this on tv? This isn't some cruddy fandub? What... happened to all the action, all the violence? Watch the series in Japanese with English subs! You'll thank me!
Funimation fucked up this series with their Negaverse ("Negative + uniVERSE). Naoko Takeuchi did not create a Negaverse. They raped this show. Plot lines and back stories were twisted and over-edited. They soured it. The Japanese version is far better. Thank God for Kodansha and Toei!

@TheShockMaster I remember watching this episode when I was about four and actually wondering if they died or not, since you see their ghosts later on. The memory loss is pretty anti-climactic :/

The whole last two episodes of the English dub are pretty anti-climactic. And I'm not hating on dubs, I normally prefer dubs and I am a voice actor myself--I am hating on the writing/editing decisions that were made with the last two episodes, though. They had to cut so much from the last two episodes that they ended up just merging the two together. If you want to watch a HUGE tear-jerker, watch the original Japanese version of this episode with English subtitles.

@TheShockMaster I watched the entire japanese series a few years ago, and I agree 100% I love how the senshi/scouts died and were brought back to life through the crystal. In the manga, Sailor Moon also brought some civilians lives back through the crystal before the final fight. I also hate how pretty much the whole fight between Sailor Moon and Momoru/Darien was cut out. Yes it was pretty violent, but it was much more emotional. you're a voice actor? That's so cool :)

Be that as it may, I don't like it when dubs are so completely redone that they're targeted at a different age group. My motto has always been, "If you want to make a show for kiddies, make your own--don't take someone else's show and modify it."

@TheShockMaster (just for reassurance im not trying to argue with you) i do agree to an extent, this was also done when anime was first coming to america so it wasnt widely popular and targeting kids was easier than asking adults to watch this, in comparison to now. (most adults watched these things as kids so its ok)

@nikksmtey Thanks a lot! I watched both videos that you sent me. It's amazing how much the dub version excluded, especially the detailed parts of the sailor scouts death. It was very sad. I still liked the song choice better in the dub version, but the original version tells more. I guess I would have liked it best with the un-cut stuff from the original, with the dub music in the battle scene. =D. So in the original version, did they just all simply die??

@RevolverLochness yes i do and i have ever since i was a little kid when i started watching sailor moon. i think this show is so well acted out and its like you can feel the emotions, the action, the storyline as if it were your own life. i think the battle scene is intense and the music is perfect for it

@RevolverLochness yeah it is a shock for her to do what she does-but i think it makes it more interesting. she is the character i'm most like and people are so surprised when they find out all of the different sides to me. i always knew serena was mature and tough on the inside but also very sensitive and sweet. so what if she whines and eats like a pig? :)

Beryl's voice actress was the only one with any passion, the rest of them were just awful. Especially Artemis; even when he's saying the girls are doomed, he sounds like a radio DJ.

Oh wow. I've grown up with the Japanese version, watched the series, all 200 episodes. When it's over I watch it again. This is the first time I've watched DiC Sailor Moon... they really aired this on tv? This isn't some cruddy fandub? What... happened to all the action, all the violence? Watch the series in Japanese with English subs! You'll thank me!

Funimation fucked up this series with their Negaverse ("Negative + uniVERSE). Naoko Takeuchi did not create a Negaverse. They raped this show. Plot lines and back stories were twisted and over-edited. They soured it. The Japanese version is far better. Thank God for Kodansha and Toei!
