Iran was in no position to take part in the WW2 and therfore declared itself as a neutral country to avoid any aggression. Actually Israel produces some very sophisticated weapons and weapon electronics. Iran's domestically produced weapons are, on the other hand, butchered reverse engineered American and Soviet defense technology dating back to the 70s at the latest and often times all the way back to the 50s.

Iran was in no position to take part in the WW2 and therfore declared itself as a neutral country to avoid any aggression. But it did not prevent GB to invade it because 90% of all the oil used in the war was stolen from Iran and GB could not risk loosing iranian oil. Oh I agree, but I think the Russians helped them reverse engineer a lot of the working parts to keep the birds flying. That doesn't mean their AWG radars are up to snuff, but I think the F-14 threat from Iran during their war with Iraq, was credible at one time.
And yeah, giving Iran F-14s was a huge mistake. Who decided that anyway?

before iran's revolution iran was armed by USa to prevent Russian from getting control of oil in middle east . therefore Iran was armed by best weapons such as F-14(even american didn't use f-14 when iran bought them) Iran army also was trained in USA .

The F-14 was developed from the F-111, which was mean to be a replacement for the aging Vigilante, a carrier born bomber. But the F-111 was too big. Out of that research came the Tomcat, which was brought in during the later part of the Vietnam conflict.

The US Army doesn't use fixed wing fighters, especially the F-14 which is a carrier based plane.
Iran didn't receive its Tomcats until after 1980. First operational deployment of the Tomcat was in Vietnam in 1974 by the US Navy.

The Tomcat has a variable geometry wing, but it is FIXED, meaning that it DOESN'T ROTATE like a helicopter.
