  • tp = transperineal = through the perineum

  • it's for prostatitis. it's long because relative to the volume of the prostate, the volume of medicine is large, & injecting it faster would be painful.

  • see below. i've had 26 of these injections now. i'd say four have been painful, the rest just uncomfortable. the uncertainty about whether it's going to be painful does make it a little scary...

  • you feel the needle breaking the skin. when he pushes the needle into the prostate it's also a little painful, partly due sensations referred into the penis from nerves surrounding the prostate. after that, injecting the medicine itself is sometimes (not always) painful, causing an ache/pain that lasts up to half an hour. the mix injected contained some local anaesthetic - i wasn't given any beforehand.

  • it's a treatment for prostatitis. the volume of the average prostate's only about 24cc. the injection was 12cc. to get 12cc into a 24cc prostate without causing much pain, it needs to be done slowly.

  • can u tell,why did u have this long injection?
