  • He is freaking amazing!!!! GO KENNY!!!

  • Saw him play at Roberts Western a couple of weeks ago. Then ran into him at the grocery store on a Sunday. Chatted with him for a bit. A great guy. Amazing musician.

  • What a very cool guy he is! mega talent ..down to earth and regular folk!

  • Didn't he play w/ the Johnny 3 back at the White Mule like 30 or 40 yrs ago?

  • I'll have to try flatwounds. Just to see if I can get into them.

  • I've never heard anyone pronounce it "da-dario" I've always says "dee-adario" lol...

  • Watch Lucinda Williams' DVD "Live From Austin, Texas" (1998) to hear Kenny really cut loose and play. Check out the song "Joy" here on YouTube (the 8:27 version).

  • I've seen Marty several times. He is OK. My point was Marty's brand of music the 3 chord country stuff he does doesn't give Kenny much of a chance to show his stuff. Seeing kenny behind RB Morris was an eye opener. Marty to me hasn't never been real country. Real country is gone. Marty does lip service to it if you aint real country you just aint.is it real country if Taylor Swift sings "Crazy"?

  • "Once you get to a certain level everything disappears and just becomes distortion." So right Kenny. That's why I will never understand how "pros" can demonstrate guitars and amps on Youtube by playing distorted as hell. You just don't hear anything like that.

  • not only a great player but a great guy. he is a very serious player and a wonderful guy just to talk shop with. he kind of reminds me of GE smith when it comes to his knowledge of music instruments and techniques. I met him and Marty in WV at a show and was impressed how he is just a regular guy with extrordanary talents.

  • Kenny vaughn is great. He is also pretty far from stupid...

Marty stuart has pretty much always been good for country music. Gotta feel a little sad for ppl who think its junk. IDT Kenny would be playing with him if it was.

  • @diabolusme Marty has been good enough for Lester Flatt and Johnny Cash and for record labels. That should be good enough for most folks who never played for country and bluegrass giants. Marty is no slouch on guitar or mandolin and can hold his own with most anyone. Kenny is a great player, good tone and effortless playing. I would love to see Kenny play with Jack Pearson. That would be sweet to see and hear!

  • Sure he plays lead but my point was kenny really doesn't get to strut his Grade A stuff while behind marty. And Marty's music,at best, is just a parody of real country music and real country music, per se,doesn't exist any more.

  • @seymourbbest

Marty's music is, at best, real country music, and I have no regrets about going to see him, cause he is, in my books, hell amazing. If you want "parody music", try Taylor Swift, cause what she does is NOT real country music.

  • nice guitar...but does he always dress up like austin powers...?

  • Its sad to see some of these posers posting crap about one of the greatest guitarists working today. I've seen Kenny playing his true stuff in concert, not the marty stuart junk, and he is amazing. When any of you Walmart shelf stockers learn and know 1/10th of what kenny knows about guitars came back and enlighten us then.

  • @seymourbbest

i agree you for the most part, but dont dis marty stuarts music, it may be jus be country to you, but kenny's playing over those tunes is a text book definition of what a guitar lead should be.

  • @seymourbbest

What exactly are you referring to when you say "Marty Stuart junk"??

  • @crv36 - I see that after posting a spate of inane and more than a little desperate messages extolling the musical virtues of this douche bag poser, you've up and deleted them all and canceled your Youtube account. ROFL!!!

  • @Hoopermazing I did NOT cancel my youtube account, I just realize what a waste of time you are.

  • "I'm like a string aficionado, I've used every string ever in the universe so I know more than like, ANYone, dude." What a fag

  • @MyManDan Guitar players are always searching for a better or different sound and feel and as such they will try any string they feel will get them that sound or feel. So, yeah, he probably has used every brand of string and every type of every brand. Personally, I like Phosphor Bronze on my acoustic and have used many brands, including D'Addario, but right now I use Elixer. It's a personal preference. Kenny likes the sound of the flat wound string vs a nickle plated or a round wound. Works too.

  • @MyManDan He never said anything about knowing more than anyone else. What the hell are you talking about?

  • Does he mean that with distortion flatwounds go too muddy to play or just that you can't hear a difference between roundwounds?

  • @RedPetrol76 I took it as you can't tell a difference.

  • Quelle horrible sale gueule !!!

  • This dude doesn't know how to pronounce D'Addario... It's not Dee-Addario. Geez!

  • @Hoopermazing; This 'Dude' rocks balls and is a TWANG KING. Are YOU?!?

  • @twangman77 - Fuck "twang," and while you're at it, go fuck yourself.

  • @crv36 The only thing fat on me, as your wife could attest, is my veiny fat dick.

As to "shredding," eat shit and die. I don't listen to meth-head trailer trash "music," much less play it. Bebop, bitch! Learn it. Know it. Live it.

  • @samilinen13

Round wound strings are wound with a round wire. They are bright and they make noise when you move your fingers. Flatwound strings are wound with a smooth flat ribbon. They have a more mellow sound and they don't produce a scraping string noise when you move your fingers.

  • in a very, very concise description roundwonds are bright sounding/rough feeling and flatwounds are smooth feeling and sound dark/dull

  • notice the grady martin licks 0:35

  • ide like to hang with this dude

  • One tasteful guitar genius.

  • Check out his work with Lucinda Williams

    Unreal.

  • For anybody who caught the George Harrison comments, they did in fact switch by 67, the switch was mostly around 65-66.

  • yup. awesome talent

  • fucking great guitar player
