Holy shit. I only remember hearing this as part of some megamix I downloaded back in the early 00's! I never thought I'd ever get to find the original!
@PrawdaUnia If you haven't found these already look up Flaming June by BT, Solid Sessions Janeiro Armin van Buuren mix, Oceanlab Sky Falls down Armin mix but original is also excellent, Oceanlab Clear Blue Water, Above and Beyond No one on Earth, Motorcycle As the Rush comes, Armin Van Buuren Burned with Desire, Robert Miles Children. These are all good old classic trance tunes.
I remember hearing this in '98 and not really knowing who the artist was till later. I'm glad i did, as i purchased 'ESCM' shortly after and was instantly blown away by his music.
I was blasting this song on my CD deck, driving my friend to work when this exact part came on , now 2:35...and rode on, as the TWIN TOWERS, NY's two front teeth, were brought down and bombed and desecrated by hatred that has never been justified. I lost my co-workers and friends here.
I remember first hearing this when we did yoga at my old high school. We did yoga once every 2-3 weeks in weight lifting. The song was on the DVD we were watching.
i was like like 12 or 13 wen i first heard this amazing track. i remember litening to it on a casette tape! oh the memories. this track is jus timeless!
hahaha it's excacly the same with me. I recorded it on a cassette while hearing it on a radio station. It was 98-99 that time and I was at about 12-13 too!!!! One of my first and definately one of my favourite tracks of all time. Very romantic and energetic
I was listening to this track when I was 12/13 years old. My little cousin is now 13 and listens to Justin Bieber and Jonas brothers. I wish she would understand music like this. BT. Most original sound since . This sound would be to original for movies. The next FF movie should be Import Nights featuring drift scenes in upstate NY, and Penn using this format of music.

I enjoy drugs. I enjoy adding small bits of water to them and mushing them up with a spoon, then making diminutive sculptures of Dick and Lynne Cheney with them.
Also, no opinion about space travel if you've never flown to space, no opinion about any place of Earth if you've never been there, no opinion about marriage if you've never been married, no opinion aboutt smoking if you've never smoked and so on. Pretty much no opinion about most of the staff, because one person can't try everything, hehehe.
Guys, please STOP discussing the whole drug thing. This is not the time and place. And please, how can you have an opinion if you've never even done drugs?
Opinions are innaccurate despite experience or not. However, opinions are very important to consider since they offer more in depth relations/meaning than just 'facts'.
i gotta agree that it doesnt help people make better music, thedrugs, but ive listened to alot of rap and i did find plenty of times on here on some of the listeners comments about how the music sounded while on drugs, ive never tried it before nor do i plan to, music sounds just fine to me the way it is, but maybe some people do that to get a different experience they've never had before out of the music they listen to but hey its just an opinion tho. aside from drug crap, this song is awesome.

The part in this track from 2.33 till 3.15 is in my opinion, one of the best pieces of dance music ever made.I dont understand why people need to take e at dance music events. This makes every hair stand on end and sends a rush of adrenallin around my whole body, thank you bt.
Glad you think that way. People who feel the need to take drugs to enjoy themselves are insulting the producer of the music, the host of the event and shouldnt be there.
No offense, but thats a very unrealistic statement. Drugs don't drive the music industry - 'striving to do something new' does.
Drugs make you go into a state of fast thinking and it takes focus off your motor functions. A similar state can be achieved whilst laying in bed or even when you're just daydreaming. We will achieve every possible sound no matter what, drugs don't make you create awesome music. Its just a myth that 'sounds good' to make someone into a 'legend'. Very untrue. Seriously.
I doubt many people actually create good music WHILST on drugs. It's all about the inspiration from the experience, the scene and everything that goes with it which are used LATER.
Just for the record it's irrelevant whether BT took drugs or not. My point about the way the scene was created is completely accurate.
Drugs don't inspire you, they really don't. Trust me on that one, you feel 'silly' at most but thats about it. It's just a musical myth that makes it sound cool. Almost like they were 'possessed' whilst they were creating it. I personally wouldn't care if he did, and I don't. You'd be pretty hard pressed to find many people who haven't 'done it' at least once. We can say 'thats how the scene was created' but thats without knowing that it would have been the same without drugs. Small percentage.
I was part of the rave scene. It would NOT have existed without E because:
-Hardly anyone would have gone to all-night parties/raves
-Many would not have liked this kind of music, so it wouldn't have been as popular. E opens peoples' ears to dance/repetitive beats (some liked it anyway like I did BTW)
-BT was popularised by Sasha in the UK rave scene. BT would not have broken in to the big time were it not for early ravers demanding to buy the songs Sasha was spinning (until dawn).

trance is nice and all, but there is no denying that BT is better on "This Binary Universe". In the days of this song, he was a god of trance. But TBU elevated him to a god of music, period. TBU is, to this day, one of the best things I've ever heard.
Exactly. It IS really odd. The human mind is an odd place. This Binary Universe has so much emotion in it, it is full of layers, and it is simply a more intelligent album. It is his evolution from trance to musical artistry.
However, I do see where you are coming from. TBU is something utterly different, and it's hard to listen to if you aren't into the style. I personally wouldn't mind if he went back to trance now. I'm happy just having TBU.
the stutter edits you refer to are actually BT's biggest trademarks. Reasearch the "BT stutter Edit". It is what he has become famous for (aside from his songs) - you may have already known that so I mean no insult to your intelligents...but for all others - if you like trance, research the "Godfather of Trance" known as "BT"... He is trance's GOD and my musical, audible, savior... I hope to be the next best thing to BT
Oh my God! This record, yes, wax my friends was one of the first stellar songs in the begining of one of my sets(1998)...I remember smoking MJ and throwing down this with Rabbit in the moon, and platipus! The scene has changed so much...I remember FL being a pioneer in bringing this music to the US and the vibe was so non-threatening; I miss it so much. What happened? Can it come back? I am so glad I was part of the underground scene back then! Love-J
I remember th 90s scene as well. Yes, Fl was a key spot in the US but so was San Francisco and here in Los Angeles people like Swedish Egil and Groove Radio 103.1 played an important role.
Can anyone guess what the very first club Sasha played at here in the US? Kind of BT related I guess. All this talk about the way it used to be made me think of this. Give thanks to the anti-Rave laws. Plus electronic peaked when we started hearing it on commercials and such. Anthem trance got really cheesy and thank god, it's now back underground. Going back to the way it was before it's height in popularity and many good tracks coming out now.
The very first club Sasha played at in the U.S. was in Orlando, on Orange Ave., in the Beacham Theater, and it was called AAHZ...some think it was at Thee Club at Firestone but it was AAHZ first...sadly, I wasn't there..I saw him at Firestone first, but my friends have told me all about his performance at AAHZ...
i cant believe you still remember Groove radio; i remember that kbig 104 used to have guest dj's on saturday and so did kiis. those day's a long gone man.
I have been away from the rave scene, but the first of the few I went to was Aumnia 1998, Downtown Los Angeles; here, the guys from Goa Vibe Crew put together this event bringing in for the first time DJ Tsuyoshi Suzuki and having local djs like Ellis Dee. It was a great thing. I was at Cal State LA back then when an Asian guy was passing out the fliers for the event. I still have it and I imprinted it on a t-shirt then.
I remember at Aumnia the first thing I did was to go to the "bar" and ask for a beer. I then learned they didn't sell any -only water!!. Today, I think most raves have a full bar available; not sure. I also learned from the Asian guy that some people would be on acid that night, although I never saw anyone selling or taking any. Today I spend most time in 80s clubs like the Clockwork Orange on Hollywood Blvd. Rave on!!
at :28 brings back the best memories. the first time i heard this live it blow me away, i was a Electric Daisy 2001 in you could say central cali, bt was on right before the sun came up and he completely revived the crowd, like a miracle. everybody just got up and started dancing. awesome.
god man that must of been so fucking tight, my first rave was at usc 11 this year and it blew me away if only i started earlier tiesto, bt where there and rocked ttheir sets!
It was in Visalia, in the middle of farmland. Setup like a carnival_bumper car, ferris wheel and all. That night friggin' rocks! Went out and bought the CD when it came out.
i took a couple people to see BT live and they didn't know who he was then when BT did this track they were like "oh yeah we know this one we have a special memory to this!" anyway it's a great track...
I listened to this song and Flaming June back in 1997-1998 and I consider this song to be my theme song if it could be possible, hahah.
It was featured in the Trainspotting movie as well.
The part that always amazes me is the sudden drop of beat at 1:51 into a more atmospheric/ethereal feel to this tune. It sounds sounds a bit nostalgic with the guitars and vocals playing back to back.
Have you guys heard the Brothers In Mix version of this song? I like it too.
Flaming June WAS NOT in Trainspotting - I'm very familiar with Trainspotting, the music on it, and BT, and I can tell you with certainty Flaming June WAS NOT in Trainspotting. Born Slippy was. Dark and Long (Dark Train) was. For What You Dream Of was. Flaming June WAS NOT.
I remember this being my 2nd song from BT I've listened to back in 1998 and I even consider it to be my theme song in a way, 'cause I like it.
It was even featured in the Trainspotting movie.
The part that always amazes me is the sudden drop in beat into a more subtle and atmospheric feel at 1:51. The guitar and the vocals at that point along with the synths are breathtaking.
Thanks for posting such a gem, nO1PlAyAr134.
Have you guys heard the Brother's In Mix version of this? =O It owns.
the only track I had heard was simply being loved, but I must say BT is brilliant. It's the mixture of harmonics and his abillity to pretty much control the listeners emotions. He is the future of REAL music.
I had this track on a mix tape- from wprb- princeton's student radio- it reminds me of listening to the tape on a tour bus riding home from a ski trip to lake placid- met a blonde there.. never forget it.. beautiful
This song is pure ehereal trance at it's best. Dancey-trancey beat. I02333333333333333313 love when the break comes in and it's all keyboard. He is truly an awesome trance dj. I LOVE YOU BT!!!

Whatever your opinion on drugs, dance music would not exist as it does today without them.
This track's very existance owes a lot to the early rave scene which was built on ecstasy.
In fact, drugs have inluenced nearly every genre of music.

I didn't know this track was from BT, or maybe I forgot. mmmhhmm nice use of stutter edits.
djstealth7 3 years ago
the stutter edits you refer to are actually BT's biggest trademarks.

Love-J
auricnavajo 3 years ago
I remember th 90s scene as well. Yes, Fl was a key spot in the US but so was San Francisco and here in Los Angeles people like Swedish Egil and Groove Radio 103.1 played an important role.
hamaya35 3 years ago
Can anyone guess what the very first club Sasha played at here in the US? Kind of BT related I guess. All this talk about the way it used to be made me think of this. Give thanks to the anti-Rave laws. Plus electronic peaked when we started hearing it on commercials and such. Anthem trance got really cheesy and thank god, it's now back underground. Going back to the way it was before it's height in popularity and many good tracks coming out now.
Meadowseal 3 years ago
The very first club Sasha played at in the U.S. was in Orlando, on Orange Ave., in the Beacham Theater, and it was called AAHZ...some think it was at Thee Club at Firestone but it was AAHZ first...sadly, I wasn't there..I saw him at Firestone first, but my friends have told me all about his performance at AAHZ...

I've heard it was Simons in Gainesville, FL. Any way to confirm this as I'd really like to know.
Meadowseal 3 years ago
You sure it wasn't Simons in Gainesville? I've heard this stated from many people but wondering how we can confirm it.

I still have it and I imprinted it on a t-shirt then.
hamaya35 3 years ago
I remember at Aumnia the first thing I did was to go to the "bar" and ask for a beer. I then learned they didn't sell any -only water!!. Today, I think most raves have a full bar available; not sure. I also learned from the Asian guy that some people would be on acid that night, although I never saw anyone selling or taking any. Today I spend most time in 80s clubs like the Clockwork Orange on Hollywood Blvd. Rave on!!

It was in Visalia, in the middle of farmland. Setup like a carnival_bumper car, ferris wheel and all. That night friggin' rocks! Went out and bought the CD when it came out.

The beat around 3:14 sounds like the beat from that song Sonique did.

This song was in "Permanent Midnight," though. Ben Stiller starred.

I like it too.
nO1PlAyAr134, thanks :D

I had this track on a mix tape- from wprb- princeton's student radio- it reminds me of listening to the tape on a tour bus riding home from a ski trip to lake placid- met a blonde there.. never forget it.. beautiful
