The one major argument I'd agree with is the boot thing. I'd much rather be in snowboard boots. Other than that it really comes down to this. If you prefer going sideways, snowboard. If you prefer going forwards, ski. Also you can do method grabs on a snowboard, they are cool. This argument fades out the higher the level of each sport gets. If you look at the best guys, they each give each other the respect they deserve and shred with each other.
does it matter which is different. but i can go faster then kids on race team an saying to go faster off stuff in park then a snowboarder, thats stupid if you are going faster then every one else in park, you gonna land on flat. this is just n00b shit being caused between the two
yea snowboarding is harder to start but easier to get good at skiing is easy to start but hard to get really good at but if you ski then its really easy to snowboard whereas if you board then its really hard to ski
In my opinion skiing is far better. I'm very proficient at both skiing and snowboarding, but I haven't touched my board in a very long time. Snowboarding just got boring after a while. Skiing is much more difficult- ask anyone who can do both. Also, a majority of snowboarders are punks who have no respect for the mountain or others trying to enjoy the mountain. Skiing > snowboarding.
@skipebble hahaha, skiing is definately not easier at ALL if you think so youre doing it wrong. I snowboarded for about ten years and then tryed skis for the hell of it and was bombing the whole mountain my first day, having the time of my life I guess im a natural skier. Now I just ski because I like it better but i still board especially in powder because its the best on a board. Skiig is better in my eyes now but not harder at all and is much safer, especially on big jumps.
@TheDirtball69 So not true. There must be something wrong with the way you ski, or maybe where you ski. I ski at a place that has minimal groomers and steeper double blacks than you'll ever see. Skiing is easier to learn but much harder to get good at.
@skipebble since when did going down hills mean anything???? Double black??? who cares. Ill go down anything but mostly stay in the park because I actually like to challenge myself. And do you do both? Ive been snowboarding for ten years but was a natural rollerblader so thats why skiing is easier for me and i like it so much now. Hitting a jump on skis is MUCH easier because youre parallel and you can save sloppy landings not to mention crashing on skis isnt HALF as bad as a board.
@TheDirtball69 I understand and agree with your argument that landing jumps is easier on skis. But crashes on skis are way worse. Sure, snowboarders break their arms/wrists frequently but skiers break their legs or blow out their knees just as frequently. Snowboarders can't have a yard sale. With skiing one has two objects to control and four edges to catch. Snowboarding is done on a single object with two edges to catch. Skiing is much harder to perfect.
