  • Toe tapping, knee slapping!!! Love it!! Saw them in Mich and really enjoyed their music!!!!!!!

  • how in the hell did this get over 50 views

  • American popular music was born when Celtic fiddlers and Manding griots met...It hit the stage in the 1830s with the minstrels. Expression of Africanity were strictly prohibted so we stuck our feel into European songs. The seperation of black and white music came about largely becuase of record company marketing and post Civil War race relations. I wonder if Eric Clapton has ever heard Frank Hutchinson...????

  • Good to see them educating people on the history of music in the South. As the 20th century went on in the South, the music diverged into blues, Southern gospel, rockabilly, jazz, etc. But this music came before them all.

  • How could anyone not feel UP listening to this? Luuuv the Carolina Chocolate Drops. THE BEST!!!

  • omg i don't mean to be racist lol but i would have never imagined a black bluegrass group singin lol nice job

  • This isn't bluegrass, it's old-time: bluegrass started in the late 1940s, and this band plays more 1910-style. Some good "black" old-time bands that recorded before 1960 are Frazier and Patterson, Lusk Gribble and York, Prater and Hayes, Dallas String Band, Mississippi String Band, Mississippi Mud Steppers, Mobile Strugglers, Kansas City Blues Strummers, Nashville Washboard Band, Birmingham Jug Band, Andrew and Jim Baxter, Booker Orchestra, Two Poor Boys, Son Simms Four, Sid Hemphill's band.

  • Thanks for the info!

  • Who are your favorites of the list you mentioned?

  • This is not bluegrass.

    Bluegrass rocks, but old-time rules.

  • @lilboime ....lol....never confuse igorance with racism...you just didn't know any better...
