Disaster using those ferries at Likoni if you dont know how to SWIM... We used to swim crossing from Fort Jesus to Mkomani Show ground when we were kids. Precaution is better than cure LEARN TO SWIM... coz its not known when the new ferries will arrive.
I used to swim to from maddu and back, Lakini it wont help when a ferry sinks. The non-swimmers will pamic and hold the swimmers tightly pulling them down like it happened in mtongwe.

Does this shillingi charge represent the official government policy on purchasing new ferries ? I'm supposing whatever this guy says is by authority of the govt of kenya since he is part of the cabinet . NTV needs to take him to task to explain how that 'shiilingi' will get from the point of collection to the purchase of the new transports . We need to know the nuts and bolts on how this will be achieved. Nail the bastard to explain this GREAT plan !@#!!

Did he also have to pay a bribe when he boarded the ferry with the passengers in his car? I had to pay ksh 20 bribe each way or my passengers had to go in with foot commuters. Nobody could tell me what law it was. And did he have to break and almost drown at night because they opened the watu wa miguu barriers before all the cars have left?Or when a ferry started taking off with my car only halfway in?Ai!living in a cottage in diani was a nightmare.I saw death mr.waziri!Imagine all those ppl now

I am sorry, is this guy and idiot, high or just plain stupid, first you expect people to drive all the way out just to come back to Likoni, two you say buying new ferries and fixing the old ones are to expensive, yet you are rolling in a 07 Prado which the GK bought, and there has been a purchase of two new ferries from the German Govt that have not been deliverd..Why not build a draw bridge at the channel that opens and closes to let ship traffic through.Please some Privatize this industry?

@K: The poor here are the culprits. According to their own MP they are now the problem. He sees them as the cause of stalling ferries and nipe shilingi policy is his best solution. I like what that Kenyan woman said on 'nipe shilingi' policy - priceless!
