Yes but what if the child has cerebral palsy? I do not think that it would be a good idea to get one for them. They fall easy and then they are stuck with the magnet inside the head for life. I know since I am a late deaf 8 year old cerebral palsy and I fall and now have the magnet inside my head for life. It was not worth it because if you get a new one you will have to keep going back and forth to the hospital. I would not recommand it to deaf individuals that have balance problems.

Great video :) I definitely see you point.

It's always hard (not that I've ever had a kid... let alone a deaf kid) to decide how to raise your children starting when they're young. If you raise them as hearing (with a C.I.), they will most likely want to stay hearing. If you raise them as deaf, that will probably be their preference. Not saying that's the case for everyone, but what kids grow up as is normally their preference.

Yes your points are good. The ci safety is a must. It can kill desf kids if they are careless

I am a deaf mechanic. I know. Shock and hitting can kill them with ci wow

@dmfsmartfox Please name one person that has died from wearing a Cochlear Implant? Not one person has died...Please stop the fear mongering. Parents give their children CI's because they want them to have every opportunity possible...It is an incredible technology, I don't understand why so many people are going crazy over parents' rights to give their children the best possible treatment for their disabilities...No one can stop parents from giving their children the best medical care!

@goodgirlkay DEAFNESS ISNT A DISABILITY, also if parents want their child to have every opportuity possible, why arent they promoting ASL? many children are missing out on a whole culture. and would you give your infant or young child an elective brain surgery? Elective means not necessary, so I definately wouldnt.

I wholeheartedly agree it is absolutely imperative to get a CI at the youngest age possible. I am profoundly deaf here and I do know that the benefits far outweigh the risks. However, I wouldn't consider it at my age since my brain is no longer like a sponge eager to learn.
