  • What is that your wearing Smith! I was expecting a red bowtie, braces, tweed jacket, stetson (or a fez), cool boots, trousers, and lying next to a bunkbed, or maybe just the ladder

  • He's so cute here :)

  • "There is no future in vampire stories"

  • you can obviously see some similarities to his acting with this char and the doctor

those fast movements, and that eye piercing look

i think that all these are actually his own real life personality in some ways.

  • When he walked into Mr. McKinley's dressing room, I half expected him to say, "Hello. I'm the Doctor."

    Then I remembered. XD

  • Trench coat... TRENCH COAT

  • I don't suppose anyone knows where one could go to watch this?? :)

  • Bow ties are cool :D

  • 1:12 Oh, my goodness! The man in the yellow jacket! It's Phil Cornwell! I'm a big fan of him!

  • Comment removed

  • where could i watch this? the whole thing i mean?

  • He is not wearing a bowtie, bowties are cool.

  • no future in vampire stories. he's obviously never seen twilight! thumbs up if you think that too

  • @PotterMelanieDisney Yes! exactly! he never has seen Twilight methinks... because uhm... the Doctor has good taste and ..well... Twilght sucks arse! Oh and good afternoon all! ^..^

  • @VulpeLunatica totally! the doctor and harry potter rules.

  • @PotterMelanieDisney He also obviously stole his ideas from Jim ;)

  • OMG he is so gorgeous

  • That play sounds like it would make a good Doctor Who episode.

  • I personally loved David as the Doctor, but Matt is doing a good job so far.

  • I thought this was from doctor who so I almost didn't watch it (spoilers) but then I realised it was from a movie.

  • sorry for being daft, is it from series 6?

  • @strawberrysyrup9 It's not from Doctor Who at all. It's only 'doctor who related' because the clip includes Matt Smith who plays the current doctor. This clip is from a tv programme called 'The Shadow in the North'

  • @Megzy93 thank you :) i forgot about the comment, i have also seen the movie since then :P nice though

  • Comment removed

  • @rjbullock So go watch David and let the rest of us enjoy the new Doctor.

  • he looks 17... lol... of course david was mad sexy... but i'm sure this matt will grow on me quickly... that pretty much goes for the whole doctor who family... I mean i am so attached to all the characters...but seriously can i have david

  • Matt Smith is the HOTTEST Doctor ever Grace the halls of Doctor Who:):):)

  • and hes in the ruby and the smoke! (:

  • bram stoker auther of dracula

    ya get it

  • I wonder does he hate ties??

  • i like matt now, matts cool :D

  • TOO YOUNG. David Tennant was so much better.

  • *snerk* Okay, I just noticed that the one guy's door said "Bram Stoker"...AHH his "Vampire stories have no future" thing is even funnier now! XD

But yeah. Matt Smith, smexeh beast! :D I'm so glad they chose him to play the Doctor!

  • he's sooo adorable :D <3

  • I think the more i look at him, the cuter he gets :)

  • No I want his fez back

  • At first I didn't find him attractive but as soon as he got on to Doctor Who I was like OMG Matt Smith is cool! Then my dad said what about David Tennant? then I said who? Oh David Tennant well David is now second best Matt Smith. attractive :D

  • now I see why they chose matt smith and I gotta say it was a great choice indeed

  • I watched this just to see the Doctor in a hat

  • @DrunkenGuyOncrack me to :)

  • @DrunkenGuyOncrack me to :)

  • Heh... Bram Stoker :)

  • Im very up in the air about the 11th doctor. some episodes have been too focused on lovey dovey stuff that derails what doctor who is all about. the clip im seeing above shows the potentail of good stories and backround..so the wrters and producers hold the fate of the episodies being great , good or dismal. matt smith in my opinion does not.. oh well..i'm still routeing for the show please please please give it a good time slot again..LOL

  • Please regenerate now... I don't like him at all. Eccleston rocked, Tennant wrote history...He is a good actor but he can't play the Doctor. That's my opinion.

  • @Phaedrusgr well imo david tennant is hugely overrated tbh, and if RTD didn't try to drastically change the ninth doctor's character then christopher eccleston probably wouldn't have left. the problem with tennant's doctor is that he acted too human compared to christopher eccleston, and (even though i know a lot of people will disagree with me) imo smith has recaptured the alien element of the doctor better than tennant did, but that's just my opinion.

  • @SupaDupaFreak100 Well, I wasn't fair towards Matt Smith. He is pretty ok and I agree with you. Sometimes, he acted too human. Nevertheless, he was "brilliant". Tennant, Baker and Eccleston are the best for me.

  • wait when was this episode aired i don't remeber seeing it?

  • lol. i dont know this show. but Bram Stoker (?) said that there was no future in vampire stories. thats just funny.

  • i love when they go into a close up of his face! :]

  • Comment removed

  • Bram Stoker? Dude who wrote 'Dracula'? I was keen to that before they showed the name plaque!

  • HAHAHA!!!! Bram Stoker!!! Matt Smith is so cuute!!! what were they doing to that guy???

  • Is there some sort of rule that every time the doctor regenerates he is younger and younger than previously? I feel like he'll be 14 for his 12th incarnation at this rate.

  • This guys is actually pretty good.

  • bram stoker? wtf?

  • Matt is great as the Doctor.but it is kind of weried seeing him in other tv shows:) David was great too but to tell you the truth I think they tie for the best Doctor who ever!

  • I was actually pleasantly suprised with Matt... While my doctor will always be David, Matt was a good choice from what I've seen.

  • Does this mean both ten AND eleven have played detectives?

My day just gets better and better!

Theres no future in vampire stories---BOO!

  • I think Matt's brilliant as the new Doctor! Can't wait to watch a new episode tonight! :P

  • is that mitchel from being human? (As the vampier) cause it sure sounds like him!

  • @doctorwho2059 Can't even spell his name.

  • i love how he skips everywhere and jumps when he runs :P

  • 'There is no future in vampire stories!'

Later on look at the the guy goes into 'Mr Bram Stoker' the famous person who wrote dracula XD

  • BRAM STOKER?? That is too ironic. Not to mention the vampire episode of DW that's coming up.... :L

  • @doctorwho2059 Er you do realise he's putting on that accent in this? Have you even heard him speak in interviews?

  • @doctorwho2059 at 0:20-50 ok I can see

that but i will still give Matt Smith a chance..

besides he might be bring promise..to the

    new season!

  • This clip looks good can't wait for the season! :D

  • Is it me, or does he look a bit like Jon Pertwee?

  • Comment removed

  • Hey I wasn't taking the piss! I was merely stating the truth. I'm a sci-fi geek you see, which is why I watch Doctor Who.

  • @VictorCreed89 oh im so sorry i thought you meant doctor who - oh sorry

  • That's fine ;)

  • whats wrong with being a sci fi fan? D:

  • 0:38 Ummmm...Doctor Who...Series 5...Episode 6...?

  • my 2 favorite Doctors of all time r Paul Mcgann and David Tennent!

  • i think he will be brilliant! Poor guy has some big shoes to fill though!!!

  • lol Bram Stoker rejecting vampires XD that is just brilliant

  • I've really liked what little I've seen of Matt Smith as the Doctor so far. He seems like a great actor, and I reckon he's going to shame all the doubters.

  • @Saethchan

It's a shame that he is coming after David, he has got HUGE shoes to fill. Personally i miss Chris, the 9th doctor. But i have a feeling that Matt will be great it's just a shame that everybody is head over heals for David.

  • I've never taken to David as the Doctor.

    I prefer Matt already.

  • me too

  • I agree! He's a great actor and will prove all the naysayers wrong! Yeah!

  • @Saethchan shun the nonbelievers shuuuuuuuuuna... sorry i couldn't resist :]

  • @DarkestHeart266 LOL!!

  • @Saethchan well he didn't

  • na david was the best and 3dollarbrain sum people av feelings unlike sum people

  • i feel he is a bit to young and does not have much and a bit weak for the doctor hope im wrong

  • @alun191

    Too young: see Peter Davison

    Bit weak: see William Hartnell

    Not have much... what?

  • @alun191

Watch the videos of him filming for series five. The ones where you can hear his dialogue and see him act clearly.

If you still have doubts after that, then... Sorry. But from the looks of things, he looks like a great Doctor. See the videos:

(Doc, Amy and Vincent Van Gough step out of TARDIS)

    Vincent: Where are we?

Doctor: Paris, 2010! And this is where we can see your paintings!

(shoppers walk past giving them a wtf-stare)

    Doctor: Erm... Ignore them.

    :D!!!

  • Yeah, that's what everyone said about Peter Davison who was about the same age at the time, and look, he turned out to be one of the best of the classic series.

  • Oh yeah and poor Peter came just after Tom Baker and people my age like David Tenant say that Tom was there Dr being there for 7 years and still wins most of the popular Dr Who votes even to this day. But it was good to see that Peter Davidson got his following, he wasn't to bad too bad he only was there three years.

  • Bram Stoker!! the hypocrite!!!

  • We'll have to turn this up to 11...

  • I think if this guy has big shoes to fill, then he'll be straining at the top laces! Love this guy, he's gonna be awesome! xD

  • There is no future in vampire stories. Hah.

Hm, I might like this guy.

  • i seriously need to get to know this guy a bit more. he seems interesting, so yeh im pretty keen on series 5 dr who.

  • No future in Vampire stories? He's the world's first network exec!!!

BTW, Bram Stoker was irish, no?

  • Bram Stoker: there is no future in vampire stories. lmao the irony

  • Vampire stories have no future. I wish =-)

  • Agreedm, he is too young.

  • @PhantomX0990 Two words: Peter. Davison

  • i know A LOT of this is coming for my favoritism for the 10th Doctor, but i personally think the 11th role should have gone to some one older. i'm going to give Matt a chance just because of my loyalty to Doctor Who, but i'm definitely digging my heels in the sand on the way lol. i just hope his season doesn't end up with another martha jones type fawning for his attention.

  • i think hes really good :)

he suits a suit too xD he should wear something like that for the Doctor :) or is it to similar to DT's Doctor :( anyway :) i love his tweed suit he's wearing in it anyway xD

  • that is a load of bs

  • "There is no future in vampire stories!"

    HAHAHAH oh the irony.

    I thought of twilight.

GIVE MATT A BREAK! EVERYONE WAS SCREAMING ABOUT DT TOO! Give him a chance. Sure, DT was absolutely brill...but let's see what he can do first yeah?

  • @swim4me193 .

    My thoughts exactly.

Give it some time and everyone will be fawning over this guy too. People can complain all they want but with every new Doctor comes a new group of fans.

  • @swim4me193 exactly Doctor who is a show about change if you can't deal with change then don't watch the show David was a good Doctor but so were all of the Doctor's before him

  • @swim4me193 You thought of Twilight? A victorian mystery makes a joke about no future for vampire stories, and you think of Twilight of all things? How about the original mass-audience appearance of vampires? Dracula by Bram Stoker... almost 150 years and still going bloody strong.

this is a great piece, the shadow in the north - well worth the price of the DVD set.

  • @swim4me193

And dont forget the episode of Dr Who on next week with Vampires XD

  • @swim4me193 The irony is about Dracula, not Twilight. Bram Stoker wrote Dracula. Basically they're saying he stole the idea from Matt Smith's character.

  • I can really see why Stephen Moffat chose him for the role. He really has that Time Lord element DT and John Simm also have. He looks really young, but that only makes his enemies underestimate him, because there is something ancient in his eyes. I can't wait to see his official performance.

  • I'm looking through the list of people who have done the time lord and can't find a john simm

  • He played the Master in three episodes of Series 3 and will return to play him in End of Time parts 1 and 2.

  • different time lord (the master in the sound of drums and last of the timelords)

  • Eeee! He's adorable!

    ...yeah, I'm kinda weird.

  • He has very big shoes to fill after Tennant...

  • wow im surprised, he seems like he is gonna be a decent doctor........... but he will never beat DT

  • who cares.. its about the show not the actor.

  • of course not mate. Each Doctor is diffrent in there own right. And thats what makes them great.

  • exactly!

  • @swim4me193 bcause everyone said that abouut david & then everyone LOVED HIM! :D

  • I of course am I really going to miss David Tennant, I adore him and 10 but the great thing about Doctor Who is that it always changes.

I believe Matt is going to do an amazing job!

  • Quite handsome, great actor, I think we have ourselves a Doctor!

Except, his hair is great in this (you can tell despite his hat...) but in the promo pictures it's aweful!

  • I like his awful hair as the Doctor. Makes him look like an old man in a young body, which is what the character is.

  • His clothes make him look like an old man in a young body. His hair makes him look like a fourteen year old emo kid.

I'm seriously trying my best to hold off on judgement until I've seen him acting as the doctor.

  • @LorChan1919

In the promo pics his hair looked emo (all combed down).

Watch those leaked videos/pics of him filming. It's like Tennant's, only floppier and sort of "dandy"-er. Me likey.

(also, by watching the filming videos, you get to see him acting as the doctor, and then you can judge him properly!)

  • brilliant

  • omg i was dead set against him being the doctor BUT OMGOSH he will be amazing i will still miss tennant tho :'(

  • *SQUEES* :D:D:D:D i liked him within the first 5 seconds!! & i really liked...REALLY liked dt, but i think matts gonna be really good too!! the doctor isnt suppose to be the same person or have the same personality....thats what makes him the one and only doctor :)

  • I have a good feeling about the guy - I'm ready for something entirely different, and I think he can bring it :)

  • Couldn't agree more :)

  • he'll be a brillant doctor.

just needs a little more engery

  • well considering this is a 19th/20th century based drama, i highly think it was a time to jump for joy was it ;) Plus he has to act an entirely different role in this than being the Doctor. I remember David Tennant as a murderer in this ITV drama, seemed entirely different

  • yh. in shadow in the north he was better in that

  • then you arent a real fan

  • Dude, I was watching Dr. Who before you were a sperm.

  • To make a Who ref..you will not fight in here! :)

  • HAHAHAH...Suuuuuuuureeee pal. Keepo living in make-beleive. Real fans don't act the way you do.

  • omy god what a suit

  • I keep wanting him to get all dramatic and I think his voice is just a little soft it doesn't have any volume but his is pretty good he will make a great doctor

  • What's his name from Jonathan Creek would've been great as well.,

  • alan davies?

  • I think he'll be a good Doctor :)

He seems like quite a good actor.

  • look his a nice guy good actor but its difficult seeing someone else be doctor then david it seems strange that quirky smile that gave that certain dazzle and the eyebrow swift come on will nobody miss it!!! im sure his great but i have trouble moving on from David I knew he couldnt be there forever playing him..Ugh i dont know ill just have to wait till 2010...:(

  • But then everyone had the same doubts about david when he started, give him a chance - you'll probably like him - they're really picky with who plays the doctor, they wouldn't ruin it with a bad one just like that.

  • yeah your right i hope thats what happen....

  • Within about the first three seconds I was excited. Opening into the scene, the way he walked, the music, I could totally see him as the Doctor.

I can't believe we have to wait all the way until 2010! So unfair! D:

  • I watched this, thinking 'Hmm. He'll probably make a good Doctor', and laughed at the Bram Stoker bit, and then... Wtf? Julian Rhind-Tutt??? He was one of my top candidates for the part of Doctor Who, so that's just a tad weird. Coincidence? Probably.

  • When I picture this guy in the tardis wearing something doctorwhoish and babbeling away to his companion I think hell actually be pretty good

  • Well looks may be deceiving, but his accent, his gestures and stuff perfectly puts him into the shoes of the 11th. I mean, Matt's got the cheeky schoolboy accent and look. He's got the mannerisms to an intelligent man and if he uses some mercurial qualities for the Doctor. At first I thought he was some emo guy, but after watching all his works I'd applaud Moffet for getting a good chap for the role of the Doctor.

  • he could actually be good. I'm sure Chris Eccleston and David Tennant have been blasted before they even had a chance so did Colin Baker he was alright but not the worst even though i liked his Dr. least. i don't think there has been any worse dr's in doctor who. Matt does have alot to live up to to fill Tennant's shoes after he's gone but I'm sure he'll do great

  • I like Matt and all, but David was more OPEN and loud! Matt's just like bleh...

  • how can you say that when you havent seen play the doctor yet

  • based on what i HAVE seen

  • dont. every dr has been blasted 'till he had his chance. give the kid a go. he may even be good.

  • I'm sure you're one of those people who would have thought Heath Ledger would make a horrible Joker based on what you've seen in his earlier work...

  • Actually, I LOVED Heath in the Dark Knight. I thought he was FANTASTIC!

  • Oh really? Well so did everyone else, so please don't shout.

  • but he wouldnt play the doctor the same way he did in this

  • And this is just my opinion, and we don't have to start a cyberfight about this people so just SHUT UP xD

  • xDD yeah he does!!

  • Dude, when he ran up the stairs at 0.10 he looked TOTALLY Doctorish!
