An what if you keep getting kidney stones again and again? I stopped drinking soda. In know they say any colas in particular can cause kidney stones. I'm not sure about drinking lemonade. I think that would depend on what kind of kidney stones you have. An at that I would think they'd want you to drink straight lemon juice, but that's too bitter. I would imagine anything with sugar would be very bad for you if you have kidney stones.
my husband is undergoing a kidney stone pain...what can we do about it...i dont want him to go in to operation is there med to just dissolve the kidney stone?
@lorie28irry17 I passed a 11.5mm stone a few days ago, i drank 6 Vodka cruisers and 2 cans of coke and in the afternoon i had a full bladder , this helped with the pressure of expelling the stone. It's my second big stone , the first was 8mm and I did the same thing but with 6 beers. The alcohol helps by easing the pain and filling your bladder . If you don't drink alcohol I recommend a lot of apple juice or just plain water.
I passed my first kidney stone about 2 years ago and DO NOT want to go through that horrible pain again. I am a male and dont know what child labor feels like, but i bet kidney stone pain ranks up there with labor or could be even worse. what do you think?
@ElOgKoRa I agree.. I am also male and had a kidney stone and I was shocked at the pain. They did the lithotripsy to break it up. I never want to go through that again.
@adam15ND Yea man and u know the worse part is that it hit me while i was driving on the packed freeway!!!... and i dont know if it happened to you but besides the pain, the vomiting feeling that came with it as well. i dont know if you had that too.
@ElOgKoRa Yes, the only thing I could do was vomit and I actually wanted to because it distracted me from the stomach pains! They were about to let me out of the hospital to just pass it at home but after I stood up I started puking again. I couldn't imagine having it hit me when I was driving man. That's tough!
lmaoo i know exactly what u mean man what the hell did u know in traffic while u were in pain my kidney stone occurred at 3:00 am got up to piss and i couldn't pee than got up went to the kitchen to drink water than it hit me dude i never felt pain like this before it was horrible now im takin out my appendix god help me!!
the nurse who treated me for it told me that she had a stone a year before I did, and she would rather give birth to all 3 of her children again over having another kidney stone.
I couldnt do anything when the pain hit. i was driving. but ive heard that 8 ounces of pure lemon juice disolves the stones. drink 8 ounces of lemon juice and next hours after that take half water, half lemon juice. i found this out after i got my stones so theres no guarantee it will work. so u could let me, or everyone else here know how it works out. good luck bro...
it is true that lemonade can melt kidney stone? if is true pls teach how many ounces of lemonade i take cos i have a kidney stone im suffered alot...i have money im living in philippines
I have a stone. 6mm get to see a specialist in a few days. Anyway I've been drinking a lot of water. And now I'm going to my Kitchen to make Lemonade. I hope the Lemonade helps it melt.
hydrangea root and marshmellow root have been proven to relieve pain assoc. with kidney stones within minutes, and will dissolve most stones within a few days for only about $25 dollars,, u decide
Dr. have you done any study of how melamine and cyanuric acid combine in the body to form crystals that lead to renal failure in pets and babies such as in China last year? I have evidence that melamine has been widespread in the U.S. food supply for quite some time - in addition to other non protein nitrogen such as urea.
I believe there is a good chance these chemicals in our food supply are responsible for the unheard of increase in kidney stones in children over the last decade.
Here is the Lemonade Diet my Dr gave me that prevents most kidney stones. My doctor gave me this a few weeks back.
Mix 4 ounces of lemon juice in 28 ounces of water and drink daily. This lemonade recipe creates high levels of urinary citrate, which helps prevent the development of stones.
i have a 7mm stone, i used to drink alot of protein drinks for weightlifting awhile back, they might have been a factor ? i used to have about 150 grams of protein per day, NO MORE !!!
I believe that's how I got mine. :( Passed one 4-5 years ago...and found out I have 2 in my right from an MRI in 8/2009 one is 2.9mm and one is 1.8mm. I'm trying to find ways to dissolve or break them down so I don't go through that pain again.
I read somewhere that at autopsy, it is discovered that up to 70% of cadavers will have at least 1-2 stones. Interesting. Some people (living) will also have stones that go fairly un-noticed ('silent' stones w/ minimal discomfort); believe me, I wish I had those types of stones.
a kidney stone is the most horrible experience ive ever had, its so painfull its unbelievable how much it hurts, mine was 9mm in size and i had to have it removed surgically, sometimes the episodes i would have due to pain would leave me balled up in a fetal position in the floor with no means of comfort...its just a horrible experience but i still hope osama bin laden gets one every week for the rest of his life! lol
haha, you know what also sucks, getting a root canal at the dentist and not having enough novacaine, it was like a nail going into my gum, i almost jumped out of the chair !! sucked lol
i used to box and i thought i got hit in the kidneys, it turned out i had stones. i also passed it without knowing i had it, once i saw the blood in my urine i went to get it checked out. thats how i learned.
This is NOT an exaggeration: I started getting kidney stones at age 15; I am 36 now and have had 75+ stones in total . No one can give me an answer as to why I form so many stones. I have tried low-oxalate diet; added magnesium; diuretics; increased fluid intake; my parathyroid is normal every time it's checked, etc etc. Believe me, kidney stones are hell on earth. And you don't get 'used to them' . By the way: I'm a female and apparently, renal stones are more common in men? I beg to differ!
Koumrian: Thanks! The thing is my father-in-law is the head of renal transplant surgery here in Buffalo and both he and his colleages can't seem to figure out what is going on with me either. Although they did offer an explanation similar to your's: that maybe my stones are a result of the way my kidneys process the waste. So, I guess I'm just a 'stone-former'. Period. End of story. But I deal w/ them when they pop up and try to stay as healthy as I can:)
Boazaibb: I hit the 'poor comment' instead of 'reply'; sorry, my bad:( I'll make sure to fix it. Anyway, no, I don't have Crohn's disease, but I do have a history of gastritis/duodenitis, if that means anything...
i read on the net that drinking beer assists with the passing and helps with the prevention of stones, its said that the hops in the beer causes the uretra to dialate assisting with their passing and since beer is a diaretic it has a flushing effect also, also i read that lemon juice helps break them down because lomons are acidic and it may take off the rough edges making them less painfull, im not encouraging tones of beer drinking but i think a 6 pack a week could help alot. i had a bad stone
I was at the emergencey all day cause of this, I had fever, chills, sweating constant vomiting and a major lower back pain that was moving to my groin, the dr prescribed me medicine but the pharmacy was closed till the next day but I decided to try cranberry juice and tons of water first and thank God that helped the stone come out of me. It stung so bad but its a relieve to know it c ame out.
My stones are both calcium oxalate and uric acid. I passed my 1st stone at 22. I'm 51 now and have stopped counting my stones. I drink 5 litres of water a day and work very hard to avoid foods that lead me to form stones. I've done my research. I had a kidney stone.
I drank water , I drank straight lemon juice. I passed the stone and have had no symptoms at all since.
LEMON JUICE ! and stay hydrated.
My doctor said no soda pops. I believe it was the years of "energy drinks" that started my problems....? But I am not sure.
