Not by any stretch am i a SEO expert. But one thing I keep in mind is the user experience when designing my blog

This sounds like utter nonsense. It's the fact that you're deep linking to a page that improves it's authority and, hence, ranking; not the fact that it's in a "Silo" or that it happens to share some keywords with other authoritative resources. Dude, respect for being motivated to teach and share, but if you've dropped 20K !?!? on books and information and can't see that this basic SEO at best and essentially flawed at worst, then I'd ask for my 20K back.
