Funny how words can hurt ones feelings, Think about this for a sec something as small as a humans mind could begin wars and offend people all it is "is" something made by are mind but it can do some many things funny is it not?
Here is my question...Where are the new cartoons? What is the newest, main stream, outright racist cartoon? Seems to me to apply today's standards to bygone eras. It seems silly to me to carry around anger over this because it requires that you live in that bygone era and ignore the reality of the progress made to this point we call "today"...
the one with bugs bunny and yosemite sam was edited. there is a part where bugs plays yankee doodle therefor sam gets mad at bugs, bugs puts the whip in sams hand. bugs returns dressed as abraham lincoln to intimidate sam.
to post and re edit this stuff, who does it benefit ?
I see people saying it was a different time and it was OK then. If you were white, you might have not thought anything of it but as a black child growing up in the 80's I was like WTF. I specifically asked my mom at like 6 or 7 years old, why the black people looked like that. My mom had to sit down and explain the times and mindset of people who had drawn them. Maybe I was smarter than your average kid or maybe as a kid you thought black people looked/act like that. Either it's not right.
@puppetspoofer after the holocaust they didn't oppress the Jewish survivors for another 100 years. There weren't Jim Crow laws that prevented Jews from eating at certain restaurants, drinking from certain fountains, living certain areas. A sadistic organization like KKK wasn't created to harass and kill Jewish people, yet be socially acceptable and have up to 6 million US citizens join. My parents grew up in the 40's and 50's and they are still alive.
@puppetspoofer Lol what the hell are you talking about? People make a "fuss" about the holocaust ALL THE FUCKING TIME, including the survivors!. Lol and RIGHTFULLY so.
People complain of racism but they forget that when these cartoons were out, it wasn't racist. It was normal back in the 50's and even 60's. Al Jolson performed in blackface (probably one of the most offensive, racist things you can do today) frequently, not because he was racist, but because he was against segregation in theater.
@ 1:23 my Uncle had an original signed Animation Cell of this exact scene! It was like 500 something dollars back in like 91....not sure if it appreciated or what....but my dad went on an animation cell buying spree, because it was the end of the era of hand drawn cartoons...and I guess he thought that they would be a rarity amongst the then new technology of digital /computer animation. Kinda like people sell their cash for gold now, I guess he was speculating in the animation cell market.
Growing up and watching old Looney Toons in the 90s, I never once laughed at the different ethnicities of the characters; I laughed at the slapstick humor and quickness of the changing scenes. I honestly never even realized what they were doing here until I became an adult. And by that time I had been raised with respect and a head on my shoulders. Doesn't mean I walk around racist or prejudice or intolerant. It was a "different time" then like it or not, and they were catered to adults anyhow.
Well as for me, I am not racist. I was a kid and watched some of these as a kid. To me they did no send subliminal message. I don't agree with racism or the mistreatment of anyone, nor making fun of them. But as for these cartoons, they were from a different time. Let things go and move forward. I see us all equal in God's eyes.
Nigs...a never ending source of Laughter, the silly chimps.
I'll almost miss them ALL when they're moved to The Moon for mine labor and entertainment "talent"
"THX1138" had the Right Idea when Da Darkies existed ONLY in "entertainment" media. Did the Jew bastards that rule Media gain inspiration from that and orchestrate Pro Sports, TV, Film and Music as precursor to Da Boogs ONLY existing as some kind of a virtual Black Dog and Pony Show as part of The Bread and Circuses Great Distraction?
Oh man. As f'ed up as the world is today, things weren't necessarily better in the past. It amazes me how people thought this stuff was okay back then.
Hey I saw the one with the Women washing her Kid and the Dog watches it! As a kid. I was maybe 5 or so. As a Kid I didn't saw it could be offensive to someone. But now.... But its just a cartoon, it could be also a white woman it doesnt matter, what counts for a little kid are the stupid jokes and stuff they make!
I only wish I could live in that time, an era when expression was free, you could offend people without the politically correct police, and the liberal media persecuting you endlessly. T'was a good time period. How I envied my grandparents so.
they are from a different time and era.. and today they are just cartoons.. but at the time they were the only real connection whites had with blacks. And for some white people.. who never even met black people, similar to the person saying they didnt see black ppl until they were 8, these were the only encounters they had with black ppl. This planted prejudice and racist ideas in childrens heads and disguised them as facts. this is why some fail to even realize they're racist.
I don't think that if the situation were reversed you would see the white making a huge deal over this. In theater and movies over the years, all races have been used to make a point. I think that sometimes it is just best to leave it alone. We have BET, Black Miss America and other things that are used for the black race of people now. If we were to have WET or White Miss America, we would be racist. However they are considered not so. Why is this? True freedom is mixing of all.
I was okay with the Uncle tom part....until the cotton fields then it just went and fell off a cliff of racism hit a few pillows on the way down but still it was falling off a cliff.
i don't get how the first one is racist? Uncle Tom's Cabin was a real book about slavery.. That's the only reason the black people in his story were slaves. And please, big lips? It's not racist, that's like making a white character with lots of freckles, and saying it's "racist" because not all white people have freckles. It's ridiculous.
Black people have big lips, it's a fact. Everyone has to live with it, it has nothing to do with racism. It's just like saying that cartoons that have women with breasts are sexist or even worse, animated noses are misanthropic!
@DrxSlump Okay, so if black artists began drawing up cartoons displaying white men and women having non-existing lips, pointy noses and wiry, wispy and ratty looking matted hair walking awkwardly and talking excessively geeky and nerdy then that would be OK? Pasty white skinned people acting out scenes making them look aloof, dweebish and otherwise inferior would not be "racist" then, would it? "White people have puny lips, it's a fact." See how condescending that sounds? It's def. racist.
@DevilMaster That's not what I asked. If you're going to insist on jumping into an already on-going conversation pay attention to what/who it is you are responding to. Read DrxSlump's post and then mine, again. Then you could maybe try again.
What's racist is that people think that anything with an African American in it doing something a stereotypical African American would do is racist. Get over yourselves and stop being so damn sensitive, we're all different and have different histories, we all just need to deal with it and stop this "racist" bullshit.
@Jesus1229 that's a cartoon comercial to support the troops back there, is in the right column of this video as "banned cartoons bugs bunny nazi-negro u.s. , i don't like it, but i'm just letting u know, i've seen it and disgustes me so bad
These cartoons are from a different era and time. They are just cartoons. When being watched and I am sure I watched some of them when I was a kid, I did not even think such a thing. They were just cartoons. Too many people are trying to pre-judge and make a big deal over something that just is not true.
@sarahannforrester And still prople drew this and they obiously had fun to express their prejudices and stereotypic way of thinking by showing it on television. And they are not just cartoons they are contemporary witnesses no matter what you were thinking. And not only kids watched this. Parents were watching this and probably said (or thought) something like "These daaamn niggers are lazy fools!". Think outside the box.
@sarahannforrester maybe you`re right but the point is that these cartoons were made by white men that are mocking the black, so their directors were racists, i wonder what if the contrary happen, surely the white were outraged then.
@chadro851:59 was racist, that is how they depicted black children and the name was called a pickaninny. You don't know what images were used to ridicule blacks so you can easily say it's not racist. Look up the name Jim Crow and you will see many images and names for blacks. And n****r wont be the number name or image.
unfortunately, the one with the canadian mounties, they played for us in day care when i was 6, but also, I didn't learn what a black person was until i was 8 - i just thought they were monkeys
@POKIUNA ... They DID draw them to resemble apes. That in itself is racist, but a kid would genuinely think they were a monkey. I know I did 20 years ago. Geeze, have a sense of humor. Next, we're going to start being told that blonde jokes are no longer allowed.. Racism out of hate is terrible, but racism for humor? If comedians like Katt Williams can get away with it, why can't a cartoon?
Two years ago two parents went out for dinner. A few hours later the babysitter was calling to see if she could cover the clown statue in the kids' room. The father said "Get the kids out of the house, we'll call the police, we don't have a clown statue". The "clown statue" was actually a killer that escaped from jail. If you don't post this on 10 videos tonight the clown will be in your bed at 3:00am with a chainsaw in his hand. Sorry don't want this to happen to me
im not trying to come off as racist but that is how the generation of the day perceived race. funny how we didnt have a problem with it then but have a problem with it now. makes you think.
@vinnynet they didn't have a problem because they thought that black people were the problem and discriminated them in such harsh way , they separate them from anything, of course nowadays they will not tolerate it because white people stoped being racist for no reason, well a lot of them not all of them, so is this cartoon bad? yes it is!! why? we are not racist anymore so this thing are not ok and SHOULD NOT BE OK
Fucked up how they see African Americans as uneducated and thinking we are less important cause of a damn skin color, when will people wake up and notice skin color doesn't matter, we all are just trying to live in life and be successful and enjoy life and praise the lord.
There is racism in the cartoons. Be it hidden, subliminal, or outright, it is portraying blacks as uneducated and that they can sing. This is all stereotyping and I feel, at times, blatant racism. Having said that, I watched these cartoons as a kid and never thought twice about it. If you don't think it's racist, then show this clip to your black friends. Their view will be the same as mine....
What?? there's nothing racist in this clips.. the cartoons are showing history and how black people from the show bis yoused to act in that time, they're just singing and dancing, i don't see nothing racist
@FangNthunder Are you serious? are you saying to me there was no famous black people at the time? blues ain't show biz to you? you're the one who should educate yourself pal, before playing ignorant
@murdamane88 omg It's a cartoon, they exagerate, have you seen white people in bugs bunny? They have gigantic pointy noses, thin moustaches, villian behavior and act retarded just like every other character. Wonder why no one complains about them. And you think their dimwitted demeanor is greater than the ones the main characters have? like bugs bunny or dafy duck? don't be crazy. But no matter, everything is racist right? It's sad to think like this, im sorry for you.
@McLovin123ify Don't worry ill be fine. How old are you? I mean really it's not that big of a deal to make it known but yea these particular cartoons were racist. They were made back in the day when blacks were discriminated against to the extreme. I mean a huge lipped guy mowing cotton, bugs bunny running around yelling "no massa please" like a scared slave, etc. If you can't see the racism in these you are obviously uneducated about race, or have zero contact with any other ethnicity. I pity u
yeah but how is this different than Meet the Browns,Tracey Morgan, and Flava Flav???? .............oh, and that was the short list.

@sarahannforrester maybe you`re right but the point is that these cartoons were made by white men that are mocking the black, so their directors were racists, i wonder what if the contrary happen, surely the white were outraged then.
jevitigre 1 month ago
@sarahannforrester yeah but these cartoons were made in the 30s. it was a racist time in the 30s through the 60s. so it might actually be racist

chadro85 2 months ago
@chadro85 1:59 was racist, that is how they depicted black children and the name was called a pickaninny. You don't know what images were used to ridicule blacks so you can easily say it's not racist. Look up the name Jim Crow and you will see many images and names for blacks. And n****r wont be the number name or image.

@SlapstickCoyote that's the worst comment u could ever made, be savy and don't say things that make u sound bad even if u don't mean it that way
POKIUNA 2 months ago

Sorry don't want this to happen to me

im not trying to come off as racist but that is how the generation of the day perceived race. funny how we didnt have a problem with it then but have a problem with it now. makes you think.
vinnynet 2 months ago
@vinnynet no by cared then.
Visser0x 2 months ago
@vinnynet they didn't have a problem because they thought that black people were the problem and discriminated them in such harsh way , they separate them from anything, of course nowadays they will not tolerate it because white people stoped being racist for no reason, well a lot of them not all of them, so is this cartoon bad? yes it is!! why? we are not racist anymore so this thing are not ok and SHOULD NOT BE OK

MarkII69 2 months ago
There is racism in the cartoons. Be it hidden, subliminal, or outright, it is portraying blacks as uneducated and that they can sing. This is all stereotyping and I feel, at times, blatant racism. Having said that, I watched these cartoons as a kid and never thought twice about it. If you don't think it's racist, then show this clip to your black friends. Their view will be the same as mine....

What?? there's nothing racist in this clips.. the cartoons are showing history and how black people from the show bis yoused to act in that time, they're just singing and dancing, i don't see nothing racist

@McLovin123ify How many prominent famous black actors can you name from the 20s?
FangNthunder 2 months ago
@FangNthunder not in the 1800's yeah but later in the mid 1900's they were (i think he was thinking of the parts like 1:41)
chadro85 2 months ago
@McLovin123ify Yea, right down to the huge lips hanging down to their knees, and dimwitted demeanor. Yea, nothing racist going on at all genius...
murdamane88 2 months ago
@murdamane88 omg It's a cartoon, they exagerate, have you seen white people in bugs bunny? They have gigantic pointy noses, thin moustaches, villian behavior and act retarded just like every other character. Wonder why no one complains about them. And you think their dimwitted demeanor is greater than the ones the main characters have? like bugs bunny or dafy duck? don't be crazy. But no matter, everything is racist right? It's sad to think like this, im sorry for you.
McLovin123ify 2 months ago
@McLovin123ify Don't worry ill be fine. How old are you? I mean really it's not that big of a deal to make it known but yea these particular cartoons were racist. They were made back in the day when blacks were discriminated against to the extreme. I mean a huge lipped guy mowing cotton, bugs bunny running around yelling "no massa please" like a scared slave, etc. If you can't see the racism in these you are obviously uneducated about race, or have zero contact with any other ethnicity. I pity u
