  • Anyone got the full version of this track?

36 seconds is not nearly enough, the Argy Bargy version isnt much longer either at 1:29

  • Gary Holden made an impact on two of my favourite shows ever ;Murphy's Mob (singing the theme tune )and (acting in )Auf Weidershen Pet.Tv was pretty special in those days .

  • i was one of the extras playing football at watford fc we got£35 per day shooting was in 9 episodes

    great

  • O

    !

    !

How did I EVER forget about this BRILLIANT programme?!! BIG smile :-)

  • My mother taught at Meriden Infants in the early 80s. The sot which says "What do we want? The right to work" was Bushey Arches, which seperated Oxhey from Bushey.

  • @55360j I remember those arches - my mother used to drive under them when she was taking me to school. The traffic was awful - we ended up taking a short cut just beside the Elf garage where I bought my smurfs from.

  • This was the southern version of Josseys Giants, yes i know it came first!!!

  • some of the photos in the credits are from the meriden estate in watford ,i grew up there!!

  • Just class, total class!!! Isnt Wurzel on the Sony add now?

  • I just had to come back here to listen to Gary Holton sing this! When I was a kid I used to watch Murphys Mob on a tea time and then on a friday night I watched Auf Weidershen Pet back when it was first screend in 1983, I didnt realise Gary Holton sang this until 6 months ago. Happy Fuckin Days. If only we could re-live em!

  • @MOONST0MP Exactly my experience too!! Happy fckin days man!!

    rich

  • @wmrxb15 Nice one! I think mabey I am stuck in the past, I dont even watch telly anymore, I just cant find anythin I like!

  • Brilliant!

  • Now, this is the best Tv theme ever. Hawaii 5 O ? Pah!

  • You'd never see a TV program aimed at kids with opening titles like this being made these days.

    Brilliant stuff.

  • Have any of the actors gone on 2 bigger things?.Cheers.

  • absolutely 1st class tv! i used 2 watch this at mi nans after school whilst we waited 4 mi mum 2 pick us up ha! ive not heard that theme tune in years but it came straight back 2 me! cant remember what the story lines were about but i remember the characters, wicked!

  • I Loved this when I was a kid. Is it Gary Holton Singin??

  • FAO Moonstomp - Yes it is Gary singing the theme tune.

  • What does FAO mean mate?

  • I was replying to you Moonstomp, "FAO" means For the Attention Of...so you would know that I was talking to you and not anyone else. Cheers.

  • Oh ok, cheers mate.

  • @garyholtonsite Aww you can recognise his voice straight away, he was great in AWP

  • I remember this! I also remember that years ago me and my friend - we're both girls - sang on top of our voices in public: "You know it's gonna be all right if we sleep together!", and people were staring at us (that's what we thought we heard on Murphy's Mob). Now I know why!

  • ok then ... does anyone remember one of the last images of grafitti on the end credits? hahaha ...always made us laugh as kids

  • er Albion Pals, not Albion Kids. Bloody awful.

  • Dear Belligertn Goal, If you don't like The Albion Pals just fuck off and listen to The Fall (whose singer is obviously an opera diva lol)! Keep your shit opinions to yourself, enough people like my band, you don't have to but don't mouth off like a bitter billy-no-mates...do you normally insult people you don't know or is it just online?

  • Your 'band' suck, and yeah, loads of people must love them - what is it, 62 views? Hahahaha loser.

  • For the record, 'Belligerent Goal' is still mouthing off like a bitter billy-no-mates and has yet to anwer my question; 'do you normally insult people you don't know or is it just online?'

  • You really missed the point on this one dickhead/belligerent goal The tune is a tribute to the original. You find yourself in a minority of one, something which you're probably used to. Try getting yourself a girlfriend, you'll go blind otherwise.

  • Awesome. Was this Gary on his own or with the Heavy Metal Kids? What's the song called? There's a dreadful cover of it on here by The Albion Kids which has to be seen to be believed :(

  • 1982?

  • IMDB says it was 1986 and I can remember watching it that year. Great music man!!!

  • i used to bounce around the living room when i heard that music.

  • I don't remember Blur doing the music...?

  • Gary Holton singing the tune, The band Argy Bargy do a cracking cover of this theme on their CD 'songs from the street' songs called Empty Days.

  • mostly filmed at watford then later on at the baseball ground.

  • man i loved this!

  • This was a great show.

  • Haven't seen this for years! Good to see the Central logo at the start as well. Thanks for posting

  • The theme tune is sung by the late Gary Holton who played Wayne in Auf Weidersen Pet.

He also sang with a band called Heavy Metal Kids.

  • Find another place but you can't play 'ere!!

    Classic.

Weren't the football pitch scenes filmed at The Baseball Ground in Derby?

  • along with The London Programme" this has to be one of the best tv themes!!!!!!!!

Thanks so much for putting this on youtube

  • Brilliant!

I remember this so well, after school in about 83-84. Great show, bit more of a grown up Jossy's Giants if I'm right and hard-hitting like Grnge Hill once was.

The theme tune sung by the late, great Gary Holton is most memorable though.

  • It must have been about 1982 I think. It was sad about Gary Holton. Maybe it was inevitable given his lifestyle but it was still a sad waste of a talented bloke.

  • Ha I remember these opening titles but can't remember what the programme was about. What year was this? i'm 28 now...

  • Ha ha! Classic - I remember watching it when I came home from school! Rasputin Jones eh!!

  • gary holtons band was called the heavy metal kids and mike monroe from hanoi rocks covered a song by them on his debut album it was called she,s no angel

  • AWESOME mate. Genius. Yes it would be great to see the series again. MINT.

  • That's it. Cheers.

  • I would pay anything to get a hold of copies of those DVD`s, christ i have been looking for this for years.

  • I still like to sing this theme tune - absolute class. This was a really cool series.

  • Used to run home from school to watch this! Love it! Cheers for posting.

  • No other words for it: F*****G AWESOME. I don't think it's had a DVD release either...

  • I do have DVD copies of each episode from all 4 series (54 eps in total)

  • Hello ,

I have been looking for a copy of Murphy's mob for ages. Would you consider selling one to me?

    Thanks,

    Mike.

  • cheers mate!!!loved this show so so much.youre a legend

  • Yes, it's him

  • Was the sig tune sung by the late Gary Holton, Wayne from Auf Weidersehen Pet? It sounds like him.

  • It was him. What was his band called?

  • Yep, it's me - Wurzel...

  • Oh!!! Now I remember! I couldn't remember the theme tune for the life of me but at soon as it started I was singing along to all the words! Great memories. Are you the kid that you keep showing clips of? Because the lead charactor doesn't seem to be in them?

  • nanas ? we had meat n veg!

  • Thanks for posting. Used to watch this eating my banana sandwiches for tea.
