Gary Holden made an impact on two of my favourite shows ever ;Murphy's Mob (singing the theme tune )and (acting in )Auf Weidershen Pet.Tv was pretty special in those days .
My mother taught at Meriden Infants in the early 80s. The sot which says "What do we want? The right to work" was Bushey Arches, which seperated Oxhey from Bushey.
@55360j I remember those arches - my mother used to drive under them when she was taking me to school. The traffic was awful - we ended up taking a short cut just beside the Elf garage where I bought my smurfs from.
I just had to come back here to listen to Gary Holton sing this! When I was a kid I used to watch Murphys Mob on a tea time and then on a friday night I watched Auf Weidershen Pet back when it was first screend in 1983, I didnt realise Gary Holton sang this until 6 months ago. Happy Fuckin Days. If only we could re-live em!
absolutely 1st class tv! i used 2 watch this at mi nans after school whilst we waited 4 mi mum 2 pick us up ha! ive not heard that theme tune in years but it came straight back 2 me! cant remember what the story lines were about but i remember the characters, wicked!
I remember this! I also remember that years ago me and my friend - we're both girls - sang on top of our voices in public: "You know it's gonna be all right if we sleep together!", and people were staring at us (that's what we thought we heard on Murphy's Mob). Now I know why!
Dear Belligertn Goal, If you don't like The Albion Pals just fuck off and listen to The Fall (whose singer is obviously an opera diva lol)! Keep your shit opinions to yourself, enough people like my band, you don't have to but don't mouth off like a bitter billy-no-mates...do you normally insult people you don't know or is it just online?
For the record, 'Belligerent Goal' is still mouthing off like a bitter billy-no-mates and has yet to anwer my question; 'do you normally insult people you don't know or is it just online?'
You really missed the point on this one dickhead/belligerent goal The tune is a tribute to the original. You find yourself in a minority of one, something which you're probably used to. Try getting yourself a girlfriend, you'll go blind otherwise.
Awesome. Was this Gary on his own or with the Heavy Metal Kids? What's the song called? There's a dreadful cover of it on here by The Albion Kids which has to be seen to be believed :(
I remember this so well, after school in about 83-84. Great show, bit more of a grown up Jossy's Giants if I'm right and hard-hitting like Grnge Hill once was.
The theme tune sung by the late, great Gary Holton is most memorable though.
It must have been about 1982 I think. It was sad about Gary Holton. Maybe it was inevitable given his lifestyle but it was still a sad waste of a talented bloke.
gary holtons band was called the heavy metal kids and mike monroe from hanoi rocks covered a song by them on his debut album it was called she,s no angel
Oh!!! Now I remember! I couldn't remember the theme tune for the life of me but at soon as it started I was singing along to all the words! Great memories. Are you the kid that you keep showing clips of? Because the lead charactor doesn't seem to be in them?
Anyone got the full version of this track?
36 seconds is not nearly enough, the Argy Bargy version isnt much longer either at 1:29

The theme tune is sung by the late Gary Holton who played Wayne in Auf Weidersen Pet.
He also sang with a band called Heavy Metal Kids.
