Lindros dominated the league until he had a string of concussions. Of course he wasnt one of my favorites, and I think he should have played for the nordiques in the first place. But he completely pwned for a few seasons, lets be honest. He just had a terrible habit of keeping his head down at the worst possible times.

I was fortunate to win two tickets to see the Habs at The ACC on boxing Day. Plenty of Habs were there as well. I plan on going to Montreal this summer with my two kids. I was in Montreal last November ('09). I had been there for quite sometime. Actually, I had never seen the Bell centre before that. I used to go once or twice a year. I was at there for the 10th anniversary New Year's Eve '85 game against Red Army. I saw Bob Gainey only career hat trick v The Jets. I must say the display at the Bell Centre is something that The Laffs don't have at the ACC.

I've lived in the west end all my life and nowadays, I see more MAnchester United, BArcelona , Arsenal, Real madrid and also Toronto FC shirts v the Leafs stuff. I would agree that The Leafs have most of the interest here when it comes to sport radio. Nothing comes remotely close. But, as far a merchandising they are well behind where they should be. I would also say that there are far more people wearing the Olympic hockey team's sweeter then Leafs sweeter.

Lindros dominated the league until he had a string of concussions. Of course he wasnt one of my favorites, and I think he should have played for the nordiques in the first place. But he completely pwned for a few seasons, lets be honest. He just had a terrible habit of keeping his head down at the worst possible times.

Look at the tv ratings for hockey games. Buffalo is always up there with Detroit. And in the playoffs the arena is sold out and 5-10K fans are outside the arena cheering.

Tv ratings in Buffalo for Sabres games are very high and theres a waiting list thousands of people deep to get season tickets.

Fact - the Habs reach 100% on a gamely basis, but Leafs reach 104% capacity on a gamely basis because of our standing sections.
and Burke is a far greater GM than the Habs have got lately so yeah...

Habs were in the dust in the early 90's? Your talking about 1989 Stanley Cup Final appearance, 2nd round in 1991, Division title in 92, and Stanley Cup in 1993? Why did they have a reason to hide in the early 90's?

Stanley Cup in '93??? That was the main reason I stopped watching the NHL! The way the final was refereed (Kings and Habs doing the same thing, but only L.A getting called for therm) it looked as is the fix was on!

I'm a Habs fan from Toronto. I've lived here all my life. The Canadiens merchandise is everywhere in Montreal. I can't say the same for the Laffs stuff here in Toronto. Montreal is definitley more Habs then Toronto is Laffs. I see more soccer jersey's then Laffs jerseys here.

I was in Montreal last November ('09). I had been there for quite sometime. Actually, I had never seen the Bell centre before that. I used to go once or twice a year. I was at there for the 10th anniversary New Year's Eve '85 game against Red Army. I saw Bob Gainey only career hat trick v The Jets. I must say the display at the Bell Centre is something that The Laffs don't have at the ACC.

well darkoanton5, I'm a Leafs fan from Montreal and have lived here all my life thus far as well. You are dead wrong about your theory. I've been to TO several times and stores are loaded with Leafs merchandise, what are you talking about? Yes there's a lot of Habs merchandise here but in fact when I was walking in Old Montreal, stores displayed European soccer jerseys at their window with an occasional random t-shirt of a Hab added to the mix. Your theory is very wrong.

I've lived in the west end all my life and nowadays, I see more MAnchester United, BArcelona , Arsenal, Real madrid and also Toronto FC shirts v the Leafs stuff. I would agree that The Leafs have most of the interest here when it comes to sport radio. Nothing comes remotely close. But, as far a merchandising they are well behind where they should be. I would also say that there are far more people wearing the Olympic hockey team's sweeter then Leafs sweeter.

I would also add that Montreal has a lot of F-1 stuff as well when I was there, especially in Old Montreal. Yes there were a lot of European soccer jerseys as well. And surprisingly Toronto FC as well.

I did spot many Habs jerseys in the crowd in Vancouver though.Habs fill most others arenas,including those south of the border,Ny,Miami,Tampa Bay,ect...

well maybe that's because you were looking for a specific team. I actually saw quite a few Leafs jerseys throughout the games, one was a Kessel jersey. I don't recall too many Leafs jerseys for Canada games but that's because there were no Leafs on Canada.
As for crowd attendance in Florida, it's known that both Leafs and Habs fans are the ones who fill them because a lot of Ontario and Quebec citizens travel south during the winter. But dude, places close like NY, full of Leaf fans always.

I didn't say the Leafs are the "greatest hockey team", I said the Leafs are the most historic. Stanley Cups don't make you historic. The Anaheim Ducks could have 25 Stanley Cups and they still won't be the most historic team.
Hey man no matter what you say, the Leafs are still Canada's team with the most fans in the world of any hockey team and passionate fans at that.

The olympics are played with the european/IIHF standard rules, so u get ejected with a game misconduct if u fight.
I know, it's stupid. But you shouldn't fight in the olympics anyway. It's against the olympic spirit. Only if your teammate is being hurt intentionally or so.
Well, that shouldn't happen in the olympics either. Hopefully, 'cos the roster cap is only 20+3 goalies, with no scratches, except the third goalie. So u really can't afford any injuries or suspensions.

Lindros was incredible back in his hey day before the concussions. Took 3 Russians to take the puck from him and then he destroys kasparitis in a fight. I'd say he is a hall of famer.
