I have been trying to find out how the Trevor Project counselors would talk to someone who is convinced that acting on their homosexual tendencies is wrong. So far I have not received a response. If the counselors reject the idea that homosexuals can become heterosexual or abstinent then I am quite sure that they are actually contributing to more suicides than they are preventing. There are many young people in this position. And telling them that they cannot change takes away their hope.

The video was helpful but you should have added the T to the LGB.

@beautifullife787 Agreed. I became completely distracted from the video because they forgot the T. Granted, they might not have. It could also be because (and I could be wrong on this) the rates for trans* and gender non-conforming folks committing suicide is higher. I know for me, I have yet to meet a young trans* person who hasn't considered committing suicide.

@bookishdandy The T is left out because the numbers they use are based off of empirical data used in scholarly studies. Unfortunately, there is not enough scientific research on Transgender and Gender Variant youth to know what their risk is. There are some studies out there, but the methodology is not strong enough to make a claim.
