These are the flying Elvii - they do this every year. They are jumpers with parachutes and they have flares attached to them. They do this every fourth of July in the Quad Cities.

That looks like the I-74 bridge in the background. Could you tell me approximately (or accurately, as you wish) where you were standing? What time was it? Was this in the morning and you're facing south? Would you say it appeared that they were on your side of the river, or further away? What part of town/area/building did it appear they were immediately above?

I saw two of the same type objects with my best friend of 20 years last Wednesday July 13th, 2011 at 20:10. for five minutes. They were large and no more than a mile away from us. They were morphing and moving with the same behaviour of those in the BBC London video. These things are real, they are everywhere and they are NOT human.
Im not sure abouts the floating lights, but at the 1:26 mark a white light in forground flys up and turns toward lights. It turns dark goes back to floating lights then at 1:34 mark (or when she says they're really low) you see two dark shapes take off over the lights and disappear!!
Chinese lanterns do look similar, but I don't think that;s what these were, the motion is always the giveaway, windblown objects all move together in the same direction. These lights are exhibiting classic "real UFO type", irregular motions, combined with an often reported phenomenon of variable transparency with total object fadeout. The very fiery bright orange color also fits with legitimate sightings. I had a close up daylight sighting in 2007 with near identical behavior and coloration.
It is just so shocking that people all over the country would see bright lights in the sky on the same night! Not only that, I would bet people have been seeing lights in the sky every July 4th for years but we simply didn't know until we got youtube. Must be alien invasion night or something. There couldn't possibly be another explanation...

Rather than jumping to the most outlandish conclusion possible, has anyone bothered to find out if local news choppers were up there covering fireworks shows? As the sun goes down our land-locked world gets dark, but remember, up in the sky at higher altitudes the sun still shines, and that would explain the images coming in and out of view. All they have to do is fly into the shadow of a distant cloud and the reflected sunlight bouncing off the side or glass of a chopper would "fade out" .
Just thought i'd add my two cent's in and say if they really are trying to make contact with us showing us they are here what better day to pick then 4th of july when we are million's of us are already looking/filming up at the sky. Remember they are very intelligent. They are seen when they want to be seen. Time for us to stop asking if this is real. Time to start asking what they want and why they are here!

Saw the same lights on July 4th around 9pm as well. I was watching fireworks around me from my roof in Brooklyn; over in the direction I usually spot these kind of lights, there appeared a single light behaving like other UFOs friends and I have witnessed from my roof.
It really is the perfect day for them to be out and about in America--everyone will think they're fireworks.
They can't be Chinese lanterns. They're all moving in different directions whereas Chinese lanterns would ride the wind, plus they don't fade out and then turn back on..
@snoopy091251 I think it has to do with the camera..because it seems like it was a bird, but it was like a light for a few moments. Probably just the camera playing tricks on us. I'm not entirely sure, though.
im in brookfield wisconsin and i saw 4 of these EXACT objects but they were taking off, at first they looked like they were going to balloon speed, but then kept going faster and faster until they disappeared. They disappeared when we should have been able to see them for another minute or so, the whole incident took about 2-3 minutes, with about 45 second intervals except for the last one that ended up catching up with the 2nd one and surpassing it. They were heading STRAIGHT north.
I created a video response. I live in Craig, NE. I film these same type of crafts on a near-nightly basis, and have been doing so since November. For those that believe these are just fireworks or chinese lanterns, tgo outside and have a gander at the night sky. You might be shocked at what you find. Anyway, thanks for sharing! saw this last night n fort wayne indiana just orange lights lie this hovering in the sky for 10 mins then disappering i thought they were fireworks until the fact that they didnt blow up or move for 10 mins
I saw one bright orange, "sun colored" object while looking in the South / South west sky. Grabbed binoculars and followed its generally northward path. Disc shaped Orange Object had a "tail" like a comet and a darker colored center. Time of sighting was 9:55 PM July 4th, 2011 from Silvis, Illinois, perhaps 4-5 miles east of Moline, Illinois I believe it was a comet or asteroid since it "flamed out" after @ 5 minutes and disappeared.
