I really like DM and almost everything he's done. I hate that I can't get in to Peep Show. It's not that it's shit, it's just not my style of humo(u)r. Yet I find him hilarious in most everything else he does.

in regards to the mac ads, the thing he never mentions is that those ads were basically just slagging off pc and were full of totally exaggerated or blatantly biased crap at the expense of the competition. i think if they had been legit adverts that weren't designed to piss people off in the first place, people wouldn't have been as critical of their involvement. i just think that the ads lacked integrity, and therefore it was a low point for mitchell and webb.

@fujikokun At the expense of competition? The Mac vs. PC ads, like all ads, are to the furtherance of competition. All companies are entitled to attempt to undermine the products of their competitors. The ads weren't at all designed to piss people off, they were designed to sell computers. With all versions of those ads, but particularly with the Mitchell and Webb version, there is a distinct sense of the tongue in cheek - they are a comedy duo and they played characters as much as in Peep Show.

Don't get the hullabaloo over the Mac adverts. I saw them on Youtube, and thought they were quite adorable :)

And if compared to Fry and Laurie who advertised Cuban cigars/cigarettes/something like that, advertising Macs seems pretty harmless.

It does feel like a gathering of the liberal left... yep, can't help but agree there. Which is why I can't watch it without getting annoyed.

As for taking work from Apple, why would anyone care?

@perfacetus A lot of people, I've heard a lot of critisism about the fact that they did adverts for apple, and it's interesting to hear what david's opinions about it are. It's kind of the whole point of an interview.

Yeah don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that no one complained, I'm just expressing that it is absurd that anyone complained about them doing the Apple adverts. My question was rhetorical.
