I also am an American of Romanian-Hungarian heritage. I love so many types of Romanian music. Do you like Margareta Paslaru. She is more of music from the 60's thru 80's pop with some other singers as well. I have been to Romania two times as well as Hungary a few times. They are beautiful places. My family came from Trannsylvania (Alba Iulia.) Have you been to Romania?

Aceast "Ioane, Ioane" este varianta cea mai apropiata de versiunile care se cantau in Bucurestii anilor 30'. Varianta lui Mirabela Dauer (din 77), care este aproape identica cu cea a lui Sofia Rotaru, cativa ani mai tarziu, este o varianta apartinant culturii "hai sa vorbim in dodii" din care s-a nascut idea teatrului absurd. Interesant ca Sofia Rotaru atribuie eronat "limba Moldoveneasca (?)" ca stand la originea acestei vechi melodii populare Romanesti. Superba interpretare, Ionut!.

it's not moldavian,it's romanian

I'll try to translate this for you, but you MUST keep in mind that some words are romanian and they can't be transated ALSO after translating word with word, you won't realise the ryme between words

I love this song so much I recorded it myself on my Romanian CD "Bade, palarie noua". I am an American of mixed heritage (not Romanian) who loves Romanian music, especially from Ardeal, Banat & Moldova. I sing and play accordion.
