They CAN do it, but they must suffer the consequences. These protestors were not killing people or anything, but if they truly were gathering outside the confines of those laws that protect their rights, they should be stopped. This particular protest was organized by the g20 resistance project, look on their website at events for sept24th 2009: everyone who just wanted to go about their business and did not agree with their views. It is clearly stated on their own site that they intentionally did not even seek a permit. The people of Lawrenceville (neighborhood where this took place) pretty much got screwed that day and were afraid to leave their homes.

@DyerMedia No offense, but that's not correct. Freedom is not the right to do whatever one wants. People are not be free to kill each other, for example. They CAN do it, but they must suffer the consequences. These protestors were not killing people or anything, but if they truly were gathering outside the confines of those laws that protect their rights, they should be stopped. If they choose to persist, then they should suffer the consequences. If people hate the law, then change it.

As for the LRAD bring a satellite dish and reflect it back at them or just bring some shooting ear muffs or sound cancellation head phones. BTW it may be possible to make you own LRAD using off the shelf ultrasonic transducers in an array.

Only in extremely wealthy suburbs due the police play the same role they did 50 years ago. I believe the G20 conferences have been an excellent op for them to test various technologies and also various costumes. The executive - by law - has the duty to protect the majority/minority of non-protesters from protester who endanger their rights/freedoms (it's a little hard to understands - but democracy is by far the most complex form of government)

They see things the way they are, and then look at these protests and see the alternative: disorganized mobs with no coherent message, reactionaries with no sense of the rights of others in whos neighborhoods they are GUESTS, and see that the present awful situation is better than the apparent Jacobin alternative. Want specifics? This particular protest was organized by the g20 resistance project, look on their website at events for sept24th 2009: everyone who just wanted to go about their business and did not agree with their views. It is clearly stated on their own site that they intentionally did not even seek a permit. The people of Lawrenceville (neighborhood where this took place) pretty much got screwed that day and were afraid to leave their homes.

Those protesters in the video are not the good people of Pittsburgh demonstrating against tyranny, they are a mob that descended on Pittsburgh from all of the world who tried to limit OUR freedom of movement, OUR right to free assembly and other freedoms. The police merely gave us our streets back and we were quite happy about that!

Being incapable of rational thought, you are necessarily then also incapable of critical analysis.
