  • Love this tribute to Queen Liliuokalani...

This is history. Preserve it and learn from it.

  • Thank you for posting this video. More people need to know the unjustice that was done to this beautiful, and beloved Queen.

  • Very historical documented photos Thanks for posting.

  • I think the queen never wanted any help from the US Liliu was really close wit the the queen of england...

  • Memoirs of independence times...

  • much respect

  • Very moving video....not one word said but the music and pictures speaks for itself. Mahalo for sharing this....still breaks my heart whenever I think about what was imposed upon her, but she is an example and testimony of faith, love and perseverance.

  • OMG her firsat name is Lydia and my name is Lydia!

  • Aloha long live her majasty Queen Lili'uokalani my she watch over us and the rest of her people we will always remember our last queen of hawai'i and may her soul rest in peace farewell and may she watch and protect us from evil itself LONG LIVE LILI'UOKALANI our beloved QUEEN R.I.P

  • LONG LIVE HER MAJESTY THE QUEEN!!

She's my guardian, my spirit, and the person who has and made the power to one day change history!!!

  • A fabulous Video Tribute. Of course the one vote against the other 115 has to be a mistake click of the mouse. What would be great is that if she were alive today, for us of our time to know her, not just because she is Queen, but because of the person she is on the inside -- who cared so much for so many.

  • i think hawaiis history is very sad i feel for the people, and how there is no royal family anymore..much love hawaii from the cook islands. kia manuia.

  • I pray to see Hawai'i become free, and take its rightful place among the nations of the world. Mabuhay ang malaya at nagsasariling Hawai'i! from your kinsmen across the seas, The Philippines!

  • @LakanTubol15 Thank you my pinoy brother. Salamat sa iyo para ka ng suporta at unawa para sa aking bayan. Na Filipino Mula sa Hawaii pagmamataas!

  • E naʻi wale no ʻoukou, i ke kupono aʻole au"

  • No, you are not wrong nickcrzycool .She is Queen Victoria wearing her daily crownette!

  • Did the last queen have any children's......so til this day hawaii has no queen?????

  • @ciaali2001. No. She was not capable of having childeren. After when America overthrew Hawaii, and annexed it, she adopted 3 childeren.

You meaning by heir to the Hawaiian Throne. Since Queen Liliuokalani never named an heir to the throne, its hard to tell who is the lawful heir to the Hawaiian Kingdom. There are plenty of people who claim to be decendents of Kings. Including one who claims who is a descended of Queen Liliuokalani Herself.

  • 'AIWAIWA 'OIA!!!! 'ONIPA'A NA HO'I!!!!!

  • Mahalo. This video and its message means so much to me. The beauty and purity emanating from Queen Liliuokalani's face is inspiring and humbling. God bless our people!!! You have inspired me to keep Hawaii's culture alive in any way I can. Aloha!!! Malama Pono.

  • This is beautiful.....

  • Wunderschön

So schön habe ich diese Melodie noch nie gehört

  • Wunderschön

So schön habe ich diese Melodie noch nie gehört

  • Wunderschön

  • aaaaw!!!! im about to cry!!! why old americans have to do dat!!! missionaries are bad! (long ago), that my queen lilioukalani have to give up that she no longer controllled the kingdom of hawaii! that them(old americans before!).bring some armies to overthrow queen lilioukalani!!!!!!

    -how bad or meeeeaaaan-

    (sorry americans to say that)

    (but in longlong time)

dat they even threayen king kalakua to sign the bayonet of constitution ,

  • americans always go where they are not wanted.

  • Why what do we do wrong?

  • you're ignoring foreign culture aka interfering with reza pahlewi - iran, chasing devil with beelzebub aka supporting irak against iran, the talib against sowjet union.

  • @hinanochick

Western Civilizations always go where they are not wanted.

Western Civ. as in Europeans and Americans.

    History tells you a lot.

  • it's sad that Queen Lili'uokalani had to be forced to surrender the kingdom. She forced to give it up or else violenece will used. the saftey of committee were the ones who over throw the monarch.

  • liliuokalani was forced to give up her thrown to the committee of safety. which were made up of american businessmen that wanted the annexation. they were going to use violence if they don't get their way. liliuokalani didn't want violence upon her kingdom. that's why the monarch ended. she and her brother kalakaua were the last monarch in our hawaiian time

  • she wrote aloha oe?

i love that song :) ha i first heard it on "lilo and stitch"

  • I hope one day the Hawaiian Kingdom will be restored.

  • @DeltaEagle7700 it actually won't be possible.

knowing that, the americans took total control and that we can't fight it....

  • @SenFushigi. Of course its possible. But if want it to happen, we need to think before we ask for independence. (And by the way.....INOWHOUR)

  • @DeltaEagle7700 and it is righful...to have your own kingdom back..it's not too late...not like what the Spain did to the Philippines ...they overthrow the our island king by using fake agreements...and it was so long ago so no one can trace the royal family...some says they were massacred and some were brainwashed by the spanish governament

  • @sugba2sugbo. Mahalo very much. I know it will happen! BTW, what you are saying I can understand. Not much people know about this history.

  • i just learned about this in my social studies class and the way we got hawaii was like the most bullshit way in the world. the U.S.'s past is very dark. lol its MAD fucked up

  • amen!!!!!!!! mahalo for noticing that

  • Deposed and imprisoned by US Naval forces? Don't forget the wonderful missionaries who screwed everything up also. Bastards had no idea what they were doing. Pagans they called them. Hawai'ians are more spiritual than any missionary ever was. Why couldn't they just have left it the hell alone? RIP grand lady. You were the real Hawai'i. Your song will live forever. God bless you and all true Hawi'ians.

  • maybe im wrong but the woman in the middle at 1:19 is queen victoria

  • You're quite right.

Her appearance here is only to remember that she and the British government steadfastly refused to support their former allies when the american coup d'etat came down.

Nevertheless, Hawai'i is the only US conquest to still fly the Union Jack in their flag!

  • Queen Victoria's relationship with Hawai'i runs very deep. She was the godmother to Kamehameha IV's son, Albert, and the namesake of Queen Lili'uokalani's niece, Ka'iulani. In 1887, Queen Kapi'olani and then Princess Lili'uokalani attend Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee. Queen Victoria and Prime Minister Gladstone were deeply loved in Hawai'i because of their respect for Hawai'i during the Jubilee and many royals studied in Britain including Ka'iulani, Prince Kawananakoa, Prince Kuhio, etc.

  • @hokulani78

Hello, I watched your video on The last Hawaiian Queen, I'm just curious as to why the Hawaiian Monarchy did not continue? Does it have anything to do with America's annexation of the Island? It just appears to be very suspicious that all of a sudden the Monarchy ends as America solidifies it's control of Hawaii. It looks like cut off the head kind of political control. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

    Leodhas (pronounced Low-ish).

  • @Leodhas77

American control in the Hawaiian Islands began when American protestant missionaries arrived in 1820. Their children and grandchildren would later impose an awful constitution and then depose Queen Lili'uokalani with the help of US marines and the US ambassador to Hawai'i because she wanted a new constitution to give Native Hawaiians voting rights and to change the economic & political relationship with the US. The US then incorporated HI as part of the Spanish-American War.

  • @Leodhas77 Our Monarchy isn't here today because the US is a FAIL.

  • @nickcrzycool123 It looks like it to me 2

  • @nickcrzycool123 Brah, lili'uokalani is on the right if you didnt notice. Also Queen Victoria was a good friend of Lili'uokalani.

  • @nickcrzycool123 yes she is Queen Victoria wearing her "daily crownette".

  • @nickcrzycool123 -

    Indeed Queen Victoria at 1.19

  • Hermosa reina de las islas más bellas de la tierra.

Lili'uokalani... Su nombre es como la música.

  • Watch how the paintings of her are getting lighter & lighter..White-washing ...It's been done it historically to all darker-hue peoples of Indigenous lands.. but it always start with the paintings..

  • ohmra2...

Does it matter if her painted images are lighter than before? What matters is that this woman's music is forever etched in the subconscious minds of the rest of the world. She is one great composer and you can't change that.

  • Long live Kingdom Hawai´i

  • God bless Her Majesty always in peace. She was truly a great lady of grace and dignity, even through all the indignities she had to endure.

  • Mahalo nui Hoku. I am truly humbled.

  • This is a fabulous piece of work. Hawaii's history, even going back before the 1850's, must be preserved for all time, so future generations can know Hawai'i is truely Earth's Paradise----in it's Land and in it's People.

  • Whereas, the indigenous Hawaiian people never directly relinquished their claims to their inherent

sovereignty as a people or over their national lands to the United States, either through their

    monarchy or through a plebiscite or referendum;

    Public Law 103-150

  • Sad true story. Great lady.

  • The Queen had 2 hanai children - Lydia Aholo and Prince Aimoku Dominis (conceived thru John Dominis's dalliance with a court lady) - Prince Aimoku had 2 daughters, Sybilene and Virginia Dominis Koch - who passed away last year - the last lineal descendant of the Kalakaua's - a truly great lady who loved her hanai tutu..

I apologize if any of this is incorrect, I met Auntie Vee about 5 years ago and this is what I was told. It was a true honor to meet her.

  • John Aimoku Dominis was not a prince. His mother was a lady in waiting and John Dominis. Illegitimate children and adopted children are not eligible for the Hawaiian throne in the Hawaiian constitution and Civil Code. All of the ali'i had hanai children--but those children are not legally eligible for the Hawaiian Throne. In Aholo and Dominis' case, their real mothers were lower ranking ali`i not related by blood to the Kalakaua or Kamehameha dynasties.

  • Mahalo! I was aware neither Lydia Aholo nor John Aimoku Dominis were considered heirs, but I was aware that after John A. Dominis died (quite early after marrying a McInerny heiress) Sybilene and Virginia Dominis were considered "lineal descendants" of the Queen - but not heirs. Sorry if my post implied that.

I truly appreciate your mana'o and hope that you continue to create these wonderful tributes to our ali'i - ke akua pu.

  • Its okay. Descendants means, however, there's a blood line. There are no direct blood lines between Dominis or Aholo and the Kalakauas. J. A. Dominis' mother, however, they were "kaukau ali'i" meaning they were non-governing ali'i but took care of the king's personal things like his malo, his kahili, spittoon, dishes, etc.

  • @koloagirl44 you're very lucky,my heart lives on the islands.but i've never been. my buddie nick k. is from there .maybe some day i'll be able to visit,so i can put flowers by the queens statue.

  • Great tribute.

  • Excellent music piece. Thank you very much. What a wonderful tribute to Hawaii's last Queen. My heart weeps for Hawaii, the kingdom, and its peoples for the injustices done them.

  • pono pono ohana thats what we all are

  • she was definatly a woman of hounor beautiful song..

  • Queen Lili'uokalani was true Royalty. She always conducted herself with grace and charm. A Grand Lady who truly cared for her people and island traditions. We rarely see ladies of her caliber in modern times.

    Mahalo

  • I don't know much about Hawaii or about this queen..

    Thanks for the info..

And that she wrote Aloha Oe..it's nice knowing how some people left their mark here on Earth..

  • Thank you for posting this lovely tribute to America`s Last ,and only Queen.

    Royal beauty. Aloha

  • I'm sorry, but it wasn't America's queen, it was Hawaii's queen.

  • chee pono honor our queen

    KANAKA MAOLI 4 LIFE

  • this is a beautiful slide. its a shame though that there are ugly comments written on here.

  • I had never heard of this Lady (Hawai'i doesn't figure much in England) So I just looked her up.

Looks like she got a raw deal!

  • What does that mean?

  • This is a wonderful way to honor Queen Lili'oukalani. Mahalo for doing this.

  • well if it werent for america hawaii wud prob not be the successful tourist destination it is now, which wud prob be a gd thing although many profiting from the tourist trade wud prob disagree

im not from hawaii by the way in fact iv not even been there, although iv got family history there and wud like to go someday!

  • it's better for Hawaii ruled by Hawaiians..... than be ruled by illegal American occupants....that's all rachemdferg.....nothing else

  • America should free Hawai'i! I'm part Hawaiian, my grandmother is half Hawaiian! I have been living on Oahu my entire life! FREE HAWAI'I AMERICA! Obama graduated from Punahou School on Oahu! He should atleast help us out!

  • True!!

  • There is no existing treaty between the U.S. and Hawaii, so technically the U.S. owns Hawaii illegally.

  • It was actually Hawaii's wealthy citizens that wanted to side with the americans and wanted her removed from the throne

  • FREE HAWAII!

  • so soothing smooth.

    Thanks for posting.

  • mahalo bra....did the family died off?

  • The Queen never had legitimate children. The heirs for the throne as of 1893 (when she was deposed) was her niece, Princess Ka'iulani (who died in 1899 but was engaged to Prince Kawananakoa). After Ka'iulani, the likely heirs would have been Prince Kawananakoa (nephew of Queen Kapi'olani and who later married Abigail Campbell and had children), and then Prince Kuhio (another nephew).

  • what happen to the Royals

  • One of the most beautiful slides of Queen Lili'uokalani. Mahalo Hokulani for sharing alot of photos I have never seen of our Queen.

  • beautiful video.. its sad how monarchry ends in the most beautiful places.. shes one of the most beautiful souls i've ever seen

  • Very well done. Thanks for this homage which teaches us people about Your Great Queen Lili'uokalani

    ALOHA!

  • she was amazing...

that sucks in the way they overthrew her...

    arg it got me mad.

  • Excellent! Great choice of music, but did you consider using one of her songs in the background? Anyhow, thank you for this wonderful slideshow of the Queen.

  • @keonepax

Please, this plays on the ukulele

    Hermann

  • Mahalo for this great work you do in offering education about Hawaii, Hawaiians and Hawaiian culture! E ho'omaluhia me ka honua!

  • Hokulani, your work is the best education i know, with regards to Hawaiian Monarchy.

    Mahalo

  • did she leave any descendants?

  • None. Her husband, Croat-American John Owen Dominis, and her did not have any children.

  • but there must be surviving members of the hawaii royal family...?

  • There are claimaints, yes. The major one would be the Kawananakoa Family, the nephews of Queen Kap'iolani. But Hawai'i was a constitutional monarchy and the succession was ratified by the Upper House of parliament. So even though their great grandfather was an heir, it does not mean his grandchildren were automatically in line for the throne. Parliament could thereotically veto the line of succession.

  • fuck white people. the only way they over thrown a lot of places is because they were professional liars and back stabbers. they stole most of there technology from other places then rewrite history and claim they started everything. if you know a real white person you would know they are very clumsy, weak, dumb and boring. its really rare you see a smart white person. they use propaganda to make them look smart. turn it to cnn and watch how dumb those white people analyze stuff.

  • I have to agree...if i were too live back then...and maybe now!

  • great pictures,history and music/There are no

more beautiful people than the Hawaiian.

  • Why no one made claim to the throne since the US government said the overthrow was a mistake and not legal?

  • Mahalo no keia hana kealoha piha me mau ki'i 'o Lili'ulani. Kulukulu ka wai maka! Mahalo ho'i hou. Keli'i
