  • could you explain a lil more why the large stroke is a bad combo with a big turbo not sayin your wrong but it seems like a larger stroke could only benfit other then the smaller stroke reving higher seems to me it would just make power sooner

  • you're kidding right? A car that modded it would be set up for boost and not NOS. Besides NOS is dumb it is just for quick HP but when the juice runs out you got nothing. I don't like NOS and I will NEVER run it in my car.

  • Thats the Difference in a 9sec car capable of 8sec times and an 11.73 sec  car. Using Nitrous to spool huge turbos isnt anything new. Go watch some big turbo supra video's. If i remeber right ( howard correct me if Im wrong) his last pas was an 11 flat at 148mph. Because he decided he didnt want to actually hit the go pedal untill 3rd gear.

  • thanks I appreciate it. it is all just a matter of preference. I am planning to get my heads and cams done then I am going to have to re tune it with the new rods and pistons but I am still going to run 18psi. Because I don't see a need for any more than that. With all of that done I should be getting low 11's MAYBE high 10's if I can launch it right.

  • We never intended for the car to make that much power at such a low boost...and yes the lag was horrible...Large Turbos and stroked engines are not an optimum combo. We never posted the 2.5L with the GT42R but that combo made 887whp boost came in at 5K and ended at 10K...The new combo will be posted in the next few weeks. Its an 11.8:1 / 4" bore / aluminum rod / GT42R / 4 x 5500cc injector alky engine...

  • Way to go. That thing is going to be about 70 hp less in real life unless you are running the air intake up out of the hood like it is set. Other wise you are getting air that is about 100 degrees cooler right now compared to real driving. Lets see you run it with the hood down.

  • Ok let me make it clear. It doesn't matter what air temp you are taking in, it's going to be hot as hell after it goes through the turbo because of heat of compression. That's why there's an intercooler on turbocharged cars.

  • it wouldn't be that much, but you are right it would effect it a little bit. not much though. probably 10 hp at the most.

  • hey where can I see that dyno chart in detail.. interested in seeing what rpm that spooled at, and what ur redline was.

  • We have the dyno chart on file. The GT40 with the 2.7L stroker and 10:1 compression. Full boost was at 4900rpm. Redline was around 7500rpm....The GT42 and our 2.5L with 10:1 gets to full boost at 5200rpm and ends at 9500rpm. Both engines had same cams and heads.

  • lag lag lag....it was still extremely fun on the street....BTW the lag and the short RPM power band is due to the stroke....unless you stay with a small turbo anything more then the stock stroke sucks for a large turbo.

  • why such a long time for that one gear? thats a lot of loud... over here a few cars blew up on the local dyno from such long pulls.. it put too big of a load on them and they over heated... anyways bad ass car gives me something to look forward to
