Ohio State was down 31-10 and 38-17 against LSU. They scored a pity TD with less than a minute left to make the score look close. LSU dominated that game after the 1st quarter.

If this is Illinois' biggest football win ever, that's fucking sad. Over a #1 ranked team that really was there by default because they were undefeated...no way was OSU the best team in the country. But it's probably true. Illinois' football program is garbage - always has been and always will be. That's why Ron Zook is a perfect fit (whereas Florida hated his guts). An upset win helped greatly by a missed fumble call is the best win in school history? Consider discontinuing the program.
Well a win at a #1 team's home turf is automatically the greatest win in school history for ANY program. Though the fumble was a blown call that set UIUC up by a touchdown, how many times to Boeckman give them the ball. Come on, if this wasn't a meaningful game, you wouldn't have anything to gripe about.
I'm sick of people blaming the fumble for ohio state's lose. That ball was recovered out of bounds so it didn't make a difference. Also even if, it would have been tied and Illinois was in field goal range at the end. Then to say the program is garbage, yeah going from 2 wins to 7-3 with a rose bowl bid and ranked in the nation. Seems to me there is a jealous Ohio st fan in our presence.
Ohio State's greatest victory would have be chosen from National Championships, Rose Bowls, and Big Ten Championships over the years. Illinois' self professed greatest victory is a league win that didn't even earn them a Big Ten Title. Wow. Impressive!!!
It's thirteen years later, and I still think Simeon Rice and Kevin Hardy are trying to catch Eddie George
But (as i know you realize) they really haven't had much of a history, the Illini were doormats for Michigan and OSU thru the years,I've been trying to tell these jugheads, Illini's greatest (almost win)game was against the great 1968 team (the super sophs)with Rex Kern, Jack Tatum, Jim Otis, John Brockington, Mike sensibaugh, Larry Zelina, etc. They actually were tied 24-24 late in the 4th qt. and Kern was ko'd. Super sub Ron Maceiejowski thru a 50 yd bomb to Bruce Jankowski for a 31-24 win.
Maybe Chamillionaire posted the 'greatest prose in school history' below? I pray he's not an alum). I accept that we lost that game, I found it amusing that you thought it was the 'greatest Illini win' EVER?
Rolled two years in a row? Did I miss the 2008 Ohio State - Illinois game? I remember OSU winning that 30-20, and so do the record books.
Ohio State's greatest victory would have be chosen from National Championships, Rose Bowls, and Big Ten Championships over the years. Illinois' self professed greatest victory is a league win that didn't even earn them a Big Ten Title. Wow. Impressive.
It's all good and fun for trash talk but atleast do ur homework and get ur scores right, Illinois 17 USC 49 which put us at (9-4) for the 07 season, Illinois 42 Missouri 52, Illinois 47 EIU 21, Illinois 20 Rajin' Cajuns 17, Illinois 24 Penn State 38 (2-2) for 2008
Illini's football history is pathetic, let them have their day in the sun.2007 was a total rebuilding year for OSU,they lost Heisman QB Troy Smith,WR Anthony Gonzalez now starting WR for Indy,1000 yard rusher Antonio Pittman,WR,KR,PR and long threat Teddy Ginn. Finally with Beanie back and Terrell Pryor starting at QB, who knows maybe will make in back to the NC game. Illini fans, Heismann is given to the finest college player in the land, still waiting for that?Well you had Butkus back in '58.
REBUILDING MY ASS! We put up like 40 points on Mizzouri, and were in that game until the end againt a #6 team. While Ohio State BARELY got past Ohio university! what the hell was that? Don't tell me they overlooked them either, you'll see when when USC gets in that ass saturday! Land of losers? hmmm... Lose these NUTS in ya mouth bitch!!
BlowjobBernieb07, I rate the minnesota game the #5 greatest ALMOST WIN in Illini school history, Minnesota is 6-1 one of the greatest ALMOST wins in Illinois history, you only lost 27-20. The Cubs and now the Illini, ILLINOIS=THE LAND OF LOSERS
Bernie my man, i don't care about your gay life style, so don't be afraid to make a prediction but do you think we can beat OSU this week? I know we're known as the "LAND OF LOSERS" but i say Illini 27 (#10)OHIO STATE 20.
Hey Blowjobbernieb07, what Bowl are we going to, have they said yet???? I seem to have heard the OHIO STATE BUCKEYES are heading South to play in a BCS Bowl (a little Bowl called the FIESTA) against #3 Texas, LOSE THESE NUTS IN YA MOUTH BITCH!!
ILLINI NATION!!! We lost to a VERY GOOD Mizzou team, but we should give the Big Ten fits this year, and will probably beat the Buckeyes again this year. GO JUICE, AND REGIS BENN!!
Berniebo7, your a LEGEND on the Illinois campus after Illinois 28-21 win in 2007 over Ohio St., we heard you had your stomach pumped (excessive sperm) at University Hospital after performing oral sex on 3 frat houses (14 guys), your an animal BERNIEB07, legend also has it, you performed oral sex on Ron Zook and have a picture of his sperm on your face, is this true??? Please post it bernieb07!!!!
OSU has some great (public) tailgates but ALL they were talking about was "next week" - meaning Michigan. They totally underestimated Illinois. Maybe their team did, too.
Still- we cheered for OSU during the National Championship Game.
im a michigan fan, buh i gotta give respect where its due. that was one helluva a game. juice was clutch as hell(even though it looked like he put WAY to much air under those TD throws).
Ignore the idiots on youtube that call us overrated. its not like LSU or USC didnt lose to some awful team..cough stanford, cough arkansas. props to illini for coming into the shoe and beating us. that's all that needs to be said. illinois played their hearts out and won the game.
this was the biggist illini win in som 50 years. they've sucked so bad the last few years so this is the biggest win of their dynasty i dont know why your saying its not. 2009 look out for the illini!
If only Juice threw like this in the Rose Bowl, i mean he is pretty good quarterback, but you can not only run to get yards, u have to pass as well, if you can do these both, illinois will be an extremely good team next year.
This is a perfect example of why OSU never deserves to be in the NC! The play at HOME against a team who lost to Iowa!! And, what is the biggest reason, OSU can't lose a game without fighting with the other team! Such sore Losers!!!
before you call someone overrated look at your program's prestige....then OSU's prestige. if u wanna be an eltie program play teams like USC and Texas. you have 0 national championships, 0 heismans...we have 7 of each. dont take shots when u cant back it up. we give props to the illini, they came in and beat us. end of story. unlike u, we can admit we lost to illini, where u act as if that loss to 5-7 pitt never happened.
yeah you guys weren't overrated at all. you lost to a team that finished the season with what 4 wins? at least we lost to a team at home that went to a BCS game.
OSU is not overrated at all. OSU has one of the best football programs out there. with a great coach and one hell of a recruiter. How ever this win was what the ILLINI needed and glad to see it. Zook is the man. and this 08-09 season were getting to that BCS or ROSE..
Sounds like sour grapes to me, especially since you're throwing a great 2007 Buckeye team under the bus. A team that the "mighty" LSU only beat because of penalties. Don't forget the 2007 Buckeyes kicked the shit out of some good teams, including Michigan, Wisconsin, and a Penn State that beat Wisconsin so bad that the second and third stringers were in for the final 1/3 of the game.
Yes, you've been waiting since 2002, but lots of teams have been waiting even longer and are even hungrier.
Ohio State might have been slightly overrated in 2007, but they DID beat some legit teams. Penn State, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Illinois all count as legit wins.
If you think the 2007 Ohio State Buckeyes are "the most overrated team", then that means that most teams, including LSU, sucked in 2007.
And why the sudden bashing of your defense? In 2006, your defense was younger, and won most of the games, including staving off a comeback by Illinois and preventing PSU from reganing the lead.
What was amazing was that the Illini won in the Horseshoe, a place Penn State last won when Woody Hayes was head coach, in 1978 by a score of 19-0. I think that was also Penn State's last shutout over the Buckeyes. What makes it amazing is how hostile Ohio Stadium is. I'd rank it up there with Beaver Stadium as far as tough places to play.
Even as a Buckeye fan pissed to see OSU lose this game, you couldnt help but feel happy for the Illini. They have worked so hard and deserved to win. They were also very respectful to OSU in their interviews with ESPN unlike SEC teams that called them out flat outsaying that they were shit *cough...cough Jarvis Moss.
Hopefully, whatever bowl the Buckeyes go to, I hope it's a win and a win against an SEC team to shut up the SEC homers.
I think in 2008 the Big Three will be Ohio State, Illinois, and Penn State, but since only two can go to a BCS bowl, the third place team will go to the Citrus Bowl, which is still great, since it was once considered for the site of a #1 vs #2 "winner take all" national championship game.

I think the Illini are going to win the Big Ten in 2008, with Penn State and Ohio State fighting for second place. I also think that Illinois might hand Penn State their only home loss. But it won't be a one-sided affair like the Ohio State vs Penn State game. It'll be won by a score of something like 28-17. I think if Illinois can pull the same tricks on OSU that they did last year, since it's a home game, Illinois might blow out the Buckeyes by a score of something like 27-7.
I like your enthusiasm, but what in the hell are you smoking. Last time I checked, OSU may have its best team since Tressel arrived in 2008. If u actually think Illinois will blow OSU out this year let alone beat OSU I will give you my entire youtube account. There is now way in hell that Illinois will win. An iceball has a better chance of suriving hell then Illinois beating OSU this year. OSU will absolutely dominate the Big Ten this year. everyone but wisc. will be a scrub.
I agree that Ohio State will be great in 2008, but I don't think they'll be better than the 2002 Buckeyes. Granted, a team that can go into Happy Valley and come away with a monster win is one hell of a team, but I think the Illini will win the Big Ten.
Again, I said the 27-7 blowout MIGHT happen. It probably won't, though. Illinois will likely win by two touchdowns. One thing in their favor is home advantage.
I think Ohio State will beat Wisconsin, but that may be the Illini's only loss.
Zook is one of the best and hard-working, if not the best, recruiters ever. For the Rivals 250 for 2009, here are the ranked players by number who are considering(or have considered, if they signed with another school)Illinois.
If Ohio State is the number one team that they were before, you can't make throws like that and expect to win. Double coverage, are you serious and triple coverage? Second of all, we have an offense. We are a running team, but we can throw too. Ohio State loses at their own home field. We are a good team. Just why can't you not admit that Illinois is a good football team? It is not false hope so don't give me crap about it.
while I completly agree we lost that game and you won it plain and simple but the play that I think gave you guys momentum and hope should have never happened.
This game was a representation of how far they had come. In 2005, the Big Ten's national championship contenders, Penn State beat Illinos so bad that PSU led 56-3 at halftime, in 2006 Illinois played Ohio State (that year's national championship contenders) to the wire 17-10, and this year Illinois beat OSU. Congrats to Illinois on going from a team being beat 56-3 at halftime to a Rose Bowl team that handed Ohio State the first Big Ten loss it had since Penn State destroyed them in 2005.
It wasn't a complete blowout, but I never once was worried about an Ohio State comeback after halftime. I admit a couple drives near the end made me a little nervous, but it seemed like Penn State controlled the game from the second quarter onward.
Juice Williams is going to be a force to be reckoned with during the next couple seasons. I believe he will lead us to a national championship before he leaves.
Yeah, next year I think Illinois, by the last couple of weeks, will be the team to beat. However, UI does have one of the hardest schedules in the nation (pre-season rivalry game with MU, at UW, at PSU AND at UM). Anyway, I think Illinois will be in the N.C. Game next year if they keep improving.
ive just noticed how close the illini were to going undefeated. lost by 6 to missouri, lost by 4 to iowa, and lost by 10 to michigan. illinois was in all 3 games and had chances to win all 3.
I don't want to spend any time tearing down the Buckeyes, because it minimizes the Illini's accomplishment. As far as bad calls, you Buckeye fans now know what Illinois has suffered with for years, what it seems the "Big Two" have been immune from for years. Shall we discuss the horrendous officiating in 2002 when Illinois should have beaten the Buckeyes in OT but for the so-ruled "bobble" by Walter Young?
Or the 2000 Michigan game where an MI fumble was given back to the Wolverines, and a ground-caused fumble by Illinois that was recoverd by Illinois was given to the Wolverines who then scored what turned out to be the winning points. That game is said to be the game that caused the Big Ten to approve the Replay Review. Illinois has several times gotten a letter of apology from the Big Ten officiating office, but it doesn't take the error back.
That said, even if it had been ruled a touchback in favor of OSU in last weekend's game, there is no reason to believe it necessarily affected the game's outcome. Illini may well have forced a punt and come back and scored again, considering how well they were moving the ball. I'd say Boeckman's 3 picks had more to do with the outcome than that blown call. OSU is a great team--as an Illini fan I am proud to have beaten such a great team.
The fumble did not affect the outcome of the game. OSU was outplayed and Illinois deserved the win, they were the better team that day. Now go and beat USC and make the BIG 10 proud. Buckeye fan.
that game was crap, i give credit to illinios, but those refs have to be fired... 3 penalties the whole game? and if you watched the first quarter, the illinois rb clearly fumbled the ball and osu recovered, and they didnt even review it... I though the review was to get the ref's mistakes? These same refs reffed the Purdue-PSU game and all of them should have been fired then. The Big Ten admitted they made a huge mistake putting them in this game. They cost the Big Ten 4.5 Million dollars.
overrated? And you base that on what? A fumble that wasn't reviewed and several bad calls. I give Illinois outplaying OSU in the fourth quarter for sure, but clearly not the whole game. LSU is overrated if anybody.
If OSU played in the SEC, they would be middle of the conference, at best. Why do You never schedule teams like Georgia or Florida or LSU? Because You would probably be embarrassed, that's why. Y'all were never in this game from the start, and the Illini were. Once again, You figured that since it was at your home, you could just mail it in, and we'd roll over and die. When You finally realized that this would be a contest, it was too late.
Illini's '07 win over Ohio St. was Illinois greatest win in school history? That's pathetic! Ohio State like Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan, didn't play or beat a TOP 20 team(only UM's win over Fla. gave the conference any respectability)Illinois was HUMILATED by USC in the ROSE, LSU destroyed Ohio ST. in the NC game, Illinois, Ohio St, Wisconsin, Michigan WERE NOT TOP 15 TEAMS, Illinois fans your pathetic losers. OHIO ST should not have even been in the title game and BACKED into it.
You miss the point. We beat the #1 team in the US in their own house-that's why it was the greatest. OSU--20 game Big10 win streak going into that game; OSU ended up in the NC game in spite of loss to us. OSU was a great team; I was proud to beat them. Looks like this year we'll do it again. OSU barely survived Wisky tonight, while Juice at the Big House, spanked MI by 25, put up the most yards in MI history. The only 2 Illini losses--Top 5 teams (PSU will end up there).
Dissagree, phatgeezer in 1968 we were 0-11-0 but we were actually tied with the #1 1968 Ohio State 24-24 late into the 4th quarter,we lost 31-24 but we were actually tied with the #1 team that would go onto win the 1968 National Championship, this 1968 team of OSU destroyed the #2 USC Trojans and OJ Simpson in the Rose 27-16,hell we scored 24 on them. Sports Illustrated Magazine voted the 1968 Ohio State team the greatest college team of the 1960's and we only lost 31-24 to them.

I remember OSU winning that 30-20, and so do the record books.
buckeye1107 3 years ago
Ohio State's greatest victory would have be chosen from National Championships, Rose Bowls, and Big Ten Championships over the years. Illinois' self professed greatest victory is a league win that didn't even earn them a Big Ten Title. Wow. Impressive.

BlowjobBernieb07, I rate the minnesota game the #5 greatest ALMOST WIN in Illini school history, Minnesota is 6-1 one of the greatest ALMOST wins in Illinois history, you only lost 27-20. The Cubs and now the Illini, ILLINOIS=THE LAND OF LOSERS
briancasey714 3 years ago
Bernie my man, i don't care about your gay life style, so don't be afraid to make a prediction but do you think we can beat OSU this week? I know we're known as the "LAND OF LOSERS" but i say Illini 27 (#10)OHIO STATE 20.
briancasey714 3 years ago
Hey Blowjobbernieb07, what Bowl are we going to, have they said yet???? I seem to have heard the OHIO STATE BUCKEYES are heading South to play in a BCS Bowl (a little Bowl called the FIESTA) against #3 Texas, LOSE THESE NUTS IN YA MOUTH BITCH!!

Ignore the idiots on youtube that call us overrated. its not like LSU or USC didnt lose to some awful team..cough stanford, cough arkansas. props to illini for coming into the shoe and beating us. that's all that needs to be said. illinois played their hearts out and won the game.
Juiceroids 3 years ago 3
Good man. The way I look at it. Illinois gets to beat OSU, OSU gets to play in the National Championship game. For now, that's a nice trade.

this was the biggist illini win in som 50 years. they've sucked so bad the last few years so this is the biggest win of their dynasty i dont know why your saying its not. 2009 look out for the illini!
YouNoOb193 3 years ago 4
If only Juice threw like this in the Rose Bowl, i mean he is pretty good quarterback, but you can not only run to get yards, u have to pass as well, if you can do these both, illinois will be an extremely good team next year.
yocool5 3 years ago
This is a perfect example of why OSU never deserves to be in the NC! The play at HOME against a team who lost to Iowa!! And, what is the biggest reason, OSU can't lose a game without fighting with the other team! Such sore Losers!!!

Mountaineerman510357 3 years ago
before you call someone overrated look at your program's prestige....then OSU's prestige. if u wanna be an eltie program play teams like USC and Texas. you have 0 national championships, 0 heismans...we have 7 of each. dont take shots when u cant back it up. we give props to the illini, they came in and beat us. end of story. unlike u, we can admit we lost to illini, where u act as if that loss to 5-7 pitt never happened.
Juiceroids 3 years ago
yeah you guys weren't overrated at all. you lost to a team that finished the season with what 4 wins? at least we lost to a team at home that went to a BCS game.
kitchel22130 3 years ago
OSU is not overrated at all. OSU has one of the best football programs out there. with a great coach and one hell of a recruiter. How ever this win was what the ILLINI needed and glad to see it. Zook is the man. and this 08-09 season were getting to that BCS or ROSE..
I-L-L
AWDBOOSTEDTSI 3 years ago 3
Sounds like sour grapes to me, especially since you're throwing a great 2007 Buckeye team under the bus. A team that the "mighty" LSU only beat because of penalties. Don't forget the 2007 Buckeyes kicked the shit out of some good teams, including Michigan, Wisconsin, and a Penn State that beat Wisconsin so bad that the second and third stringers were in for the final 1/3 of the game.
Yes, you've been waiting since 2002, but lots of teams have been waiting even longer and are even hungrier.
MVillani1985 3 years ago
Ohio State might have been slightly overrated in 2007, but they DID beat some legit teams. Penn State, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Illinois all count as legit wins.
If you think the 2007 Ohio State Buckeyes are "the most overrated team", then that means that most teams, including LSU, sucked in 2007.
And why the sudden bashing of your defense? In 2006, your defense was younger, and won most of the games, including staving off a comeback by Illinois and preventing PSU from reganing the lead.
MVillani1985 3 years ago
This game right here proves why OSU and Illinois are rivals.

Juiceroids 3 years ago
What was amazing was that the Illini won in the Horseshoe, a place Penn State last won when Woody Hayes was head coach, in 1978 by a score of 19-0. I think that was also Penn State's last shutout over the Buckeyes. What makes it amazing is how hostile Ohio Stadium is. I'd rank it up there with Beaver Stadium as far as tough places to play.
MVillani1985 3 years ago
Even as a Buckeye fan pissed to see OSU lose this game, you couldnt help but feel happy for the Illini. They have worked so hard and deserved to win. They were also very respectful to OSU in their interviews with ESPN unlike SEC teams that called them out flat outsaying that they were shit *cough...cough Jarvis Moss.
Juiceroids 3 years ago 3

MVillani1985 3 years ago
I like your enthusiasm, but what in the hell are you smoking. Last time I checked, OSU may have its best team since Tressel arrived in 2008. If u actually think Illinois will blow OSU out this year let alone beat OSU I will give you my entire youtube account. There is now way in hell that Illinois will win. An iceball has a better chance of suriving hell then Illinois beating OSU this year. OSU will absolutely dominate the Big Ten this year. everyone but wisc. will be a scrub.
Juiceroids 3 years ago

12, 23, 26, 32, 36, 38, 40, 41, 42, 44, 49, 52, 60, 61, 82, 88, 95, 105, 111, 115(committed!), 123, 127, 129, 135, 156, 159, 163(committed), 164, 171(committed), 173, 175, 181, 207, 211, 214, 228, 231, 233, 236, 249

MVillani1985 4 years ago
Cmon, OSU didnt get destroyed by Pennst in 05...it was like a TD game that went down to the last minute.
Juiceroids 3 years ago
It wasn't a complete blowout, but I never once was worried about an Ohio State comeback after halftime. I admit a couple drives near the end made me a little nervous, but it seemed like Penn State controlled the game from the second quarter onward.

I don't want to spend any time tearing down the Buckeyes, because it minimizes the Illini's accomplishment. As far as bad calls, you Buckeye fans now know what Illinois has suffered with for years, what it seems the "Big Two" have been immune from for years. Shall we discuss the horrendous officiating in 2002 when Illinois should have beaten the Buckeyes in OT but for the so-ruled "bobble" by Walter Young?
phatgeezer1955 4 years ago
Or the 2000 Michigan game where an MI fumble was given back to the Wolverines, and a ground-caused fumble by Illinois that was recoverd by Illinois was given to the Wolverines who then scored what turned out to be the winning points. That game is said to be the game that caused the Big Ten to approve the Replay Review. Illinois has several times gotten a letter of apology from the Big Ten officiating office, but it doesn't take the error back.
phatgeezer1955 4 years ago
That said, even if it had been ruled a touchback in favor of OSU in last weekend's game, there is no reason to believe it necessarily affected the game's outcome. Illini may well have forced a punt and come back and scored again, considering how well they were moving the ball. I'd say Boeckman's 3 picks had more to do with the outcome than that blown call. OSU is a great team--as an Illini fan I am proud to have beaten such a great team.
phatgeezer1955 4 years ago

DannyB21 4 years ago

OHIO ST should not have even been in the title game and BACKED into it.
smashlvr69 3 years ago
smashlvr--
You miss the point. The only 2 Illini losses--Top 5 teams (PSU will end up there).
phatgeezer1955 3 years ago
