  • Probably one of his most melodic songs of all time - and that's saying something. It just oozes musical genius.

  • paul is such a genius, glad to b in this lifetime. songs he'd written for linda is just oozing w/ so much sweetness and sincerity, i def dont mind listening to this song over and over through the years, this must be one of the greatest love songs ever. So sad and so sweet.

  • i really think with the title of the song alone it'll move you in tears isn't it?? you think??.......only love remains..... sweet!

  • Beautiful.

  • this is beautiful. One of the Paul's best stuff.

  • oh mu god... this is so beautiful. That's when you see how much Paul loved Linda. RIP Linda, she was fantastic.

  • He was amazing and the way he loved her, helped her and makes you think about the vows better worse, richer poorer and sickness and health....till death did they part he loved through each of those vows amazing

  • I never seen this video before & why this wasn't include in "The McCartney Years" DVD? This is one of my favorite songs off the "Press To Play" CD.

  • It's hard to believe, but ....yes, he is, in fact, this good.... I don't know which I like better, this one or Tug of War. Anyone can be a 3chord rock headbanger. But to create works like these, that's another thing altogether.

  • A very romantic song, as everything Paul writes when he expresses something about the love

  • another musical masterpiece from paul.

  • ......y al final solo el amor permanecera.¡¡¡

  • I may be banished... but love does remain.

  • His lyricks have always been...F-ing fantastic.. romantics everywhere can look on and say "THATS what im trying to say".

  • "PRESS to PLAY" is one of my fave McCartney albums. Mainly because he was trying something different. There are some outstanding tracks: "Press", "Goodtimes Coming", "Only Love Remains" and the Beautiful overlooked "Footprints". G.T.

  • old enough and strong enough to stretch across the world..

find the right boy for the right girl...

there's nothing left to shout about , together we'll explore the great unknown

when love is all that stays...

    only love remains...

  • te extraño abuelo...

  • Were it not for the rather lame, ( sorry) ,middle 8 this would rank amoung his very best. When I sing it I leave it out....

  • Love this beautiful song.. n the video too..

    @Thisguy55: thx for share it!

  • what an awesome , touching , gorgeous song . i had forgotten how fantastic this tune is . i wish i had thought of this before we got married so we could've used it as our song . we used " here , there , and everywhere " , which is beautiful but more well known . we had a beatles themed wedding as far as the music and it was an unbelievable hit . we got so many compliments on the " music " we chose . the right music makes such a difference with events , films , or whatever .

  • ive been looking for a girl who loves paul McCartn ey like i do for years i have got everything hes ever done on vinyl the whole collection originals sing female McCartney fans message me, Liam x

  • just as beautiful as the version on the album!! LOVE the sax!!! thank you so much for this gem!!!

  • Paul is the best

  • nobody does it better , how in the world does he put those notes and chords together . it's orgasmic . then when ya put an orchestral arrangement behind it , it's heaven . it just makes such unbelievable sense , but not many people can do it . what a gift . this song is so touching , and definitely among his best . gorgeous .

  • I couldn't have said it better. So many songs that will last for centuries. How fortunate we all are to be here at the same time Paul is.

  • Simply beautiful, I could (do) listen to him for hours!

  • I like this altenate mix!

  • nice song, I remeber it

  • yeah, it is! see how the strings are being plucked :45 :47 - & the sound ! - will someone look on the sleeve & see if it's mentioned?

  • what is that? a harpsichord? well, that's what it looks like...

  • This song has touched me from the very first time i heard it sometime in late 80's....until now it still touches me deeply.......sad sad love song.....

  • yes, i think Linda was Paulsonly lifetime true love. She should have been the proudest woman alive with some of the love songs he created.

  • Paul was terrific in the 80s. (Well, when was he never good?) This ballad shows that Paul could keep filling the world with "silly love songs" that really were never silly at all. This song is touching and among Paul's very best.

  • master!!

  • If he'd only ever writen one song; but no, the bugger had to write 100s of 'em like this and the rest!

  • -melts-

....I need a boy who'll write me a song like this... Damn you, Linda! ;)

  • Yeah, the album version is better... wonder why this isn't on the video DVD collection. Great song....

Yes PAUL IT"S TIME TO UPDATE THE LIVE SETLIST!!! How about a one off Beatle Free setlist tour just for the hardcore group!

Ha Ha like that 'll ever happen!

  • The master Paul! very good!

  • This song has a haunting quality to it. Very good song. Paul's music changed dramatically after John's death and seemed to take on a melancholy tone. Definitely one of Paul's best.

  • Great onservation. That's so true...

  • Only you could bring a happy ending to this sad song! Love you!!

  • Synths, sax and percussion have been grafted on here in an effort to make it more commercial - I prefer the sparser album version.

  • This is my absolute favorite from "Press To Play"... Yes, that's Jerry Marotta on drums, and the oh so wonderful Eric Stewart on guitar (see him enter from the left at around 0:27 ) Eric co-wrote the album with Sir Paul. This is such a beautiful song - thanks so much for posting it :)

  • vbaby73: Oh, so THAT'S why you shared this with me....'cause ES is in the vid. Figures. Nice song. :-)

  • Ha!!! Dawg!! Guilty as charged!!! You know I love Eric!! But I love you, too, so it's all good, right?! :)

  • Well, I guess now we know where Shakira got the idea for her "when the friends are gone" line from "Underneath Your Clothes."

Interestingly, Paul is now older than the balding actor who plays "old Paul" in this video...too bad that it's only in this music video that Paul got to spend his golden years with the love of his life.

  • What a versatile and much missed actor Gordon Jackson was!

  • One of the finest work of Paul. I love it!

  • Why wasn't this song more of a hit? I'll probably rank it among his Top 10 solo compositions ever.

  • Beautiful composition...

  • Is Jerry Marotta on drums here?

  • A very beautiful song, from a solid album (Press To Play).

And that is one BIG piano!

  • That was incredible. Shame what's happened to Mtv since the 80's.

  • nothing happened to mtv man, d question is, what ever happened to the songs of today?

  • r u serious? if you believe that, you must be a 17yr old boy from saudi arabia. back in the 80's there was a channel called mtv and it played mostly music. the channel calling itself that today is overrun with "reality" shows featuring one vermin after another. the "songs of today" as you call them get played in between the shows, and during hrs most people are sleeping. its a sad, sad shame what's happened to mtv in my lifetime.

  • I think mtv is just getting along w/ d trends of 2day. but im more concerned of d songs, by d way my fav. shows of mtv are classic mtv n vh1

  • simply beautiful

    thanx for posting

  • I really missed this tune, good you posted this and you have copy of this clip. The last time I saw this video was during the late 80's, you cant just do anything but to be inspired, you cant have a copy of it unles you have conections or if you're quite rich.Paul is stil amazing, even the great Bob Dylan is stil up to now amazed with McCartney's musicality. Although Dylan was one of the Beatles' early influences. Whos playin the drums on this video? Thanks!

  • No one compares to Macca except Lennon

  • right on!! so true. and this song makes me cry...

  • yeah, i know

  • and vice verse

  • that is true. only macca and only lennon, the rest pale by comparison (possibly Brian Wilson for his Pet Sounds/Smile work).

  • Great wedding song, but only if I get married to Paulie lol, no one else. xxxxxxx

  • This will be my wedding song....

  • this song was at marcia cross's wedding..i'd want it at my wedding

    its lovely

    x

  • If this isn't on The McCartney Years it's a real shame. I loved this song then and I still love it now...it's a real classic that will be remembered in time.

  • Sir Paul is the best musician ever!

  • OMG love this song!!!

  • wow...on MTV...thats great!!

    great song!!

  • Paul est le meilleur compositeur de tous les temps.

  • awesome!!! and Linda looks, so good and so beautiful like ever!!! only love remains it's my favorite macca song!!!!!

  • ARGH - I wish this had been included on the new "McCartney Years" video collection.

  • Genial tema!!

  • Another among the many "classics" of Sir Paul!

  • i miss you papá carlos...

  • i love this song

  • Remember seeing this in the eighties...a classic

  • yes, a forgotten classic indeed. Did you know, this video was filmed 'live' i.e one camera shot continously, meaning Paul and Linda had to around frantically changing clothes etc to fit the various 'scenes' while the camera was panned away from them.

  • forgotten what a great song this is, never seen this video. Amazing that it bombed out pretty bad on the UK chart.

  • Linda McCartney you are missed deeply.
